This place isn’t too bad: it’s cheap for the location, Management was always very friendly, and Maintenance fixed whatever I needed pretty quickly. The only bad thing(besides for the crappy amenities) is the 20% or so of other tenants that ruin it for everyone else. They are loud, inconsiderate, and the reason I moved out. The key is to get a good neighbor but it’s tough with only one level apartments because you are surrounded by different neighbors at every wall/floor/ceiling. Just to clear the air, there are no cockroaches!

I believe depending on if management likes you will depend on how much you like the place. I have lived her for over two years and I enjoy the place very much. Great location seeing as I work and play downtown and Debbie has always been very nice to me. Whenever I call about an issue they fix it next day. As for roaches and stuff I have never seen anything. They spray your apartment every year so that has never been a problem for me. The amenities are lacking compared to surrounding areas but I think Thurber is a great price for its location.

I would stay away. Serious roach problem, buildings falling apart & terrible management. Debbie, the manager, invites her family over during the summer to do their laundry while tenants who pay have to wait. They also lounge around at the pool & occupy the chairs… I wouldn’t mind if we had more than 6 but we don’t. Overall pretty crappy apartments. Walls are thin, carpets are dirty, cabinets are infested with bugs/roaches. And Debbie is notorious for giving tenants problems!!!

Thurber Gate is easily the worst apartment I have ever lived in – even worse than campus. The place is infested with cockroaches which we noticed just a few days after moving in. Our neighbor fell asleep on his living room floor and woke up to a roach crawling up his arm. Additionally, if you would like to live in a building that is structurally sound, Thurber Gate is not the best venue. The walkway in front of the apartments collapsed in April 2012 and left many tenants displaced for a week. It was a miracle that no one was hurt. Management was very uncooperative after the fact and did not seem to care how this collapse affected any of their tenants. They offered a small lump sum to the tenants that were affected, which didn’t even cover the cost of food for the time they were out of the apartments. This place is awful and I can’t wait to get out of here.

these apartments are pretty nice on the inside(especially if you get a renovated one). the complex its self is a blast during the summer. nice pool and sand volleyball court. walking distance to the dog park, giant eagle, cvs, etc. minutes from downtown and OSU(and CSCC and Franklin). tow’s parking violators so there is always a place to park. accepts cats and most dogs. keeps up with the landscaping. on site laundry facility(1.50 wash, 1.50 dry). VERY diverse group of people, who seem to all get along just fine. and the price is not ridiculous for the location.
