Well I saw the restaurant online last week and the menu looked very interesting so I made a reservation for tonight. I was really looking forward to the evening. When we arrived at the restaurant the lobby was packed. We soon realized that the owners choose a Saturday night to allow the girl scouts/brownies to have their cookie sale in the lobby. There were small children everywhere making an already crowded lobby and bar area a big mess. Once we sat down, the service was fantastic. Our waitress was very attentive. The food was ok. I had the Thai lettuce wraps and my husband had the steak tacos. Both were very good. For dinner my husband requested a medium rare steak that was medium well, I asked for well done fries that were soggy. Not a bad restaurant for a family, but if my kids were young it would be too pricey. Definitely not the atmosphere for a nice Saturday night dinner. It is doubtful that we will return.

This restaurant in Saturday night is L-O-U-D!!! VERYLOUD!!! If you were hoping for a relatively average atmosphere, this is NOTTHEPLACE. If you yearn for a place with atmosphere like Chilli’s or Applebee’s then this is your choice. The place was full of kids and they simultaneously sponsored a Girl Scout troop cookie sale? Hey«Mr. Jackson» on a Saturday? Really?. The one bright spot was our server, LIsa. She was very over worked but still kept a professional attitude throughout dinner. Appetizers… we ordered the STEAKTACOS, very good, cooked to order and seasoned very well. The THAICHICKENLETTUCEWRAPS were very light and tasty. DInner? well i ordered a medium rare KANSASCITYSTRIP and got it well done. Also ordered a medium burger & well done fries… got a medium rare burger & under cooked fries. Sitting here thinking of our experience, well… I’ve seen & experienced better places and would probably say… TRYSOMEPLACEELSE! I won’t be returning

Had a really good lunch there. Service could have been better though. Place was kinda busy in the restaurant part and not that busy at the bar. It seamed that the bar personal were doing something else besides tending bar? Not sure but they weren’t around much so ordering anything extra would have meant a longer stay. I was only there on my lunch hour. I would have given 4 stars if bartenders were checking on the bar patrons more often.

Went here for Valentine’s Day brunch with my wife. First people in the restaurant. The server who seated us handed us two regular menus. I asked about the special Valentine’s Day brunch and she said she didn’t know anything about it and had to ask her manager. How did she not know about this? She asks and comes back with the special menu. Finally. We ordered the fried pickles appetizer(I had to try them), unlimited mimosa’s, an omelette and I got the sexist-named ‘husband sammy’. Food comes. Pickles are spears, coated in batter and fried. Take one bite and realize the batter is not cooked at all. It is raw dough on the inside. Omelette is not an omelette at all. It is a frittata. Yes, there is a difference between the two and for the price I was paying, the cook should know that. My sandwich was supposed to have chicken, ham and bacon on it, plus an egg and avocado. No bacon. No sauce of any kind either so the entire thing was beyond dry. The only thing good about either of our meals was the mimosas and potatoes. At this point we haven’t seen our server since she took our order. She never came back until the very end of the meal where I asked her to double check my sandwich was supposed to have bacon. Spoiler alert-it was. She brings me two slices of bacon to make up for it. Yeah, not really what I wanted. As far as the ambiance goes-there were a lot of kids here. Way more than I expected to see at a supposed gastropub. Disappointing when you’re trying to have a semi-romantic brunch. Added is the fact that country music blared through the restaurant and you have a bad time. Country music is an acquired taste. It is most certainly not universal and based on the décor and reputation of this restaurant, it was not what I expected to have to hear over my entire meal. When will restaurants learn that the music they play is important! For $ 80, on Valentine’s Day, I would have expected an apology from a manager or some sort of discount off of our bill.

Good food, Loved the ribs. Good beer choice. Only draw back: the setting feels like a strip mall.

I’ve probably passed Jackson’s a million times on Jericho Turnpike and never noticed it was there. I came in because I was served an ad on Facebook and decided that I wanted to try it out and I’m so glad I did. My friend and I came on last minute plans on a Friday night so when we arrived, it was packed, the wait for the two of us was 45 minutes. There’s a bar right near the entrance and right after I gave my name, two seats opened up! We sat at the bar and I was pleasantly suprised to see Goose Island Sofie on tap. The only other time I’ve had it was in Chicago in their brewery and it’s really good. The bartending staff was very attentive. The wait flew by and before we knew it we were seated. Now on to the food! We were immediately served black bean dip with tortilla chips. I hate black beans but this dip was REALLY good. Creamy texture, definitely tasted of black beans, slightly spicy. My friend and I split the Thai Chicken Lettuce Wraps as an app. The chicken was excellent and had great flavor. It’s also served with some sauteed zucchini, carrots and some other green for topping. You have to assemble the wraps yourself. My only complaint is that they put all the ingredients in lettuce leaves which makes a bit of a mess. But the wraps were delicious. For dinner I ordered the Pear and Gorgonzola salad with Roasted Chicken. They use spinach for the greens which I love. The spinach was also really fresh. There were perfect amounts of all ingredients except for the cranberries which I felt there were way too many, but in the end, I’d rather have more than less. The chicken on the salad was good too, nothing special about the flavor, but it was cooked perfectly. Their beer menu is massive and they have a lot of really awesome craft beers. A flight is only $ 10. You probably get the equivalent of 1.5−2 beers, but I love being able to sample multiple flavors and for that cost, I’m totally in. The staff was really attentive, our server checked on us multiple times. The longest wait was for our entrées but my friend and I was deep in conversation so it was alright. At the end of the night, I paid about $ 45 before tip for a beer, a flight, a shared entrée and an app. I’m sad I haven’t found this place sooner, I’m really looking forward to my next visit!

Love this restaurant, love the food, love the vibe, love, love, love. Some of my personal favs are the iceberg wedge salad, the Thai lettuce wraps, cedar plank salmon(omegas you know), and the coolest — burnt Brussel sprouts. It’s a fun, unique and delicious way to eat your greens. My husband even ate them — he’s more of a meat and potatoes sort. The staff is great and they are always having great events there. Defiantly a must.

Excellent food and service. I have been here several times before this but finally got around to writing a review for this place. One of the few non Chinese restaurants open on Christmas Day. I love their three course menu which includes an app., entrée, and dessert for $ 28 I believe(certain entrees have an up charge). I had the French onion soup, skirt steak, and ice cream sundae. I throughly enjoyed everything I had. I also sampled the Asian calamari and everything tuna someone else had at my table, also excellent. Someone at my table sent back their steak for being too well done and it was taken off the bill promptly and another meal offered. I always love the food here but I really felt compelled to write this review more to give recognition to our server… Brittney was excellent and attentive. We had a fussy baby with us and she did everything to try to make it better, we weren’t a large party but someone at the table can be a bit nit picky and a complainer(not warranted) and she handled everything wonderfully. Management — please thank her for her patience! I will certainly be back again to Jackson’s for tasty food and great care.

I traveled to recently Long Island for a business trip, and was fortunate to find Jacksons. One of the great parts of traveling for my job is the chance to try local beers from around the country. For sure, Jacksons has a great tap list for beer nerds like me, and a tasty food menu too. On this night, I was lucky to find a group of people organized at the bar playing a board game. I was content to enjoy my Reuben, but a friendly bartender named Brittney encouraged me to play, and they all made me feel like a local. Can’t say that I’ve had more fun, especially with a group of strangers, in all my years of business traveling. Thanks, Brittney! An unexpected experience, and I’ll be back to Jacksons when my travels bring me back to Long Island.

I pass by this place all the time when I’m back in the area, and have been curious about it, so I was glad the my friends arranged a «mini-reunion» here while we were back on LI for Thanksgiving weekend. Good service, good crowd for a Friday night. Lucky thing our party of five had reservations, or we never would have gotten a table! Even with reservations, it took an extra 10 – 15 minutes to get seated, and there’s not a huge waiting area, but we sort of bunched up near the bar, which is right near the entrance. We were seated, our drink orders were taken, and we got a complimentary order of tortilla chips with a flavorful black bean dip. Our drinks came out pretty quickly, and our server patiently took our orders as we(well, me mostly!!!) debated back and forth over quite a few tempting choices. If you don’t want to spend a ton, their salads, burgers, and sandwiches are all pretty reasonably priced, and one friend got the Korean taco appetizer for her dinner, which looked good as well. My French dip was perfectly cooked and seasoned, and the bread was suuuuuuuper fresh and tasty!!! I ordered the side salad and LOVED the spicier than average house dressing that topped it. My friend’s grilled chicken sandwich and fries looked good, her husband’s fried chicken plentiful, and Mr. M&P’s steak sandwich looked super good too, though I think he was disappointed that he only got a handful(maybe three or four???) of their uniquely seasoned steak fries…(That«P» in his nickname doesn’t stand for peanuts!!) All in all a good experience. Nice place, not sure if I’d be a regular here if I still lived in the area, since there are sooooooooo many tempting places to try in the area(my stomach is growling right now just thinking about where we’ll go NEXT time!!!) but definitely a better than average place… EATUP, New Yorkers! I’ll be thinking of you, back in the FOODDESERT of Springfield, Ohioooooooooooo!

I put together an event for over 70 people. The bartenders were truly amazing as they made sure my guest were well attended to. After the event many stayed and they stayed open later than usual. I am not surprised, I come here on a pretty regular basis, usually sitting at the bar having dinner. Even during the most crowded times the bartenders always make sure I am well attended too. I have gone to some of the best places in Manhattan, yet coming to Jackson’s is like coming home. great service, great food and really fair prices. Say hi to Brittany and Tracy and you will be treated with friendly service.

Have been to Jackson’s many times but this time I was totally disappointed. Nine of us spent the evening at the bar. We ordered many drinks and food. We had two very unfriendly women bartenders who barely gave us the time of day. After a few hours of ordering drinks, etc. we began to feel as though the bartenders couldn’t wait for us to leave. The icing on the cake was that we finished the evening ordering some shots. The bartender, never offered us a buy back or any perks for all the time and money that was spent at the bar. I know they are not obligated to do that but it’s a nice touch. Usually when you spend an evening at a bar, the bartenders are friendly and engaging. Not so at Jackson’s.

Went with two friends for dinner on a Friday night. We had checked out the menu online and all agreed it looked fantastic. Upon arriving I must admit the ambiance was less than I was expecting. From the outside it looked like it would be a cool gastropub with dim lighting and dark woods, but when we entered the strange side entrance we were greeted with a rather divey décor. The place was maybe a quarter full but very loud, the lighting bright and almost obnoxious. Not a cool trendy gastropub by any means. Regardless on to the food… We ordered the thai chicken lettuce wraps and bbq wings for starters. After what seemed like an extended wait the appetizers arrived. The lettuce wraps were very tasty. Only thing I would change is the type of lettuce used. I know that’s nit picky but bibb lettuce is easier to handle than floppy pieces of iceberg. The bbq wings on the other hand were disappointing. The sauce was sweet and tasty, but the wings were soggy, not crispy at all. About 30 minutes later our entrees arrive. Two of our plates had food that was barely warm, which lead me to believe they had been sitting for a while. I ordered the marinated skirt steak which comes with mashed potatoes and garlic spinach. The potatoes and spinach were decent but the steak kind of scared me with its soft texture, I didn’t want to end up in intestinal distress from marinated meat. My friends ordered the fried shrimp with a side of mac n cheese and the steak sandwich. The fried shrimp were breaded in a bland coating, I would suggest adding some black pepper. The mac n cheese very unmistakably velveeta. The steak sandwich appeared to be made with strip steak, but was too chewy to eat as a sandwich. Overall, service was friendly but slow. Menu looked great but execution was definitely lacking. I don’t think I would go back unless I heard that they made some updates to the décor or brought in a new chef. Disappointed.

This review is for a takeout order. I placed my order and was told 15 – 20 minutes. I arrived 25 minutes later and was greeted immediately and given my receipt. I signed the receipt and was told by the hostess my order«would be out soon.» I waited about 10 minutes more as the hostess seated people and walked around. Finally, 35 minutes after placing my order, a waiter asked if I was picking up an order and handed me a bag that had been sitting on the counter since I arrived. I got home and was very disappointed by my order. The«hickory bacon burger» had one slice of bacon and one onion ring and the barbecue sauce was clumpy. The burger overall tasted incredible dry. The French Fries were limited, overlooked, and incredibly greasy. This place used to be delicious, but has gone terribly downhill.

5 Stars for sure! This place earned every single one of the starts I have :) A friend and I came here for a event Unilocal hosted and I was not disappointed! Needless to say the Unilocal event rocked but the Jacksons was a highlight. We came on a Thursday night and they just so happened so have trivia(sweeeeet!) The entire staff was very friendly and accommodating and the food was great! I will certainly return to enjoy a nice dinner outing or even take out for lunch! Thanks Unilocal & Jackson’s!

This was a surprise. I always thought it was a hardware store. But, one night, while the wife and I were looking for a new place to eat on our Anniversary(I owed her a pizzaless evening), we found Jackson’s. A quick check of Unilocal told us it was a safe bet. It was! The food was excellent. The burger was succulent and juicy. They gave us an endless supply of chips to snack on while we waited for our appetizer. A bit of a glitch there; we ordered fried pickled and got fried fish instead. I called the hostess over and said, «hi, we ordered fried pickles and these are… kinda fish.» She found this pretty funny and, honestly, so did I. The error was quickly rectified and the pickles came out in short order. I don’t ever mark off for a mistake, I instead judge by how it’s handled and they were just amazing. Food, top marks. Service, equally top rung. We’ll be back.

My friend and I attended a Unilocal event at this venue and decided to stay for actual dinner and I am so happy we did. We both ordered from the pre-fixe menu aka«the neverending LI restaurant week» menu which consisted of an appetizer, entrée and a dessert for $ 27.95. We thought we had to rush and eat because the restaurant closed at 10PM and we sat down about 9PM. However, our waitress, Veronica was an absolute sweetheart who informed us we could take our time. She was sooo friendly and patient with us throughout our dining experience. We noticed a few dining patrons coming in after 9PM and were welcomed. They restaurant also had a trivia game going on and we saw a few patrons playing at the bar. We started with some chips and dip which we needed because we were both famished. For our appetizers, my friend and I had the buffalo wings with celery and carrots and they were very tasty. I was shocked at the portion size and I made sure I didn’t eat them all so I could enjoy more of my entrée. We both also ordered the ribs as the entrée and was shocked at how much meat was on the plate. I was ecstatic because I knew I would have food for lunch the next day if it tasted good. LOL. I truly enjoyed the meaty ribs with the flakes of pineapple really mixed well with the sauce. There was also a side of cole slaw and potatoes. I kept eating and eating but eventually gave up to leave some room for dessert. Veronica checked on us and we told her we were very pleased with our meals. For dessert, my friend had the pumpkin praline cheesecake with ice cream and I had the ice cream sundae and we both loved our desserts. It was refreshing to see a restaurant continue to serve and not rush their customers even though it was past their closing time. Outstanding customer service and great food are a perfect combination and we had both at Jacksons.

I hit Jackson’s because it was on Newsday’s Top 100 restaurants list. And I waited a while to write this, because I wanted my impressions to really sink in. If I had a 3 ½ star button to hit, I probably would have. I get the feeling atmosphere-wise that if I was a regular at the bar I would love this place a lot more. Good drinks and an excellent selection for beer helps immensely. I had a wonderful pilsner, although like most craft pilsner’s it was a little too musty and not quite clean enough. The Spicy Lobster Eggrolls tasted excellent, but there was so much emphasis on being spicy that the lobster got lost in the mix. We also tried the Korean Steak Taco’s. Again, tasty, but I was surprised this was served cold. It’s listed under street food, and Korean taco’s on the streets of NYC are never served cold. I’ve only had about a million of them. The pickled veggies on the taco were a nice touch though. We split up the burger, and again, it was good, but not overly memorable. this is the recurring theme, that everything is good, but nothing is off the charts. Our favorite was Pearl’s Fried Chicken. The chicken was cooked very well, crispy, tasty, and the closest thing to an item that I would re-order if I went back. The cheese fries in gravy were constructed almost upside down, and I didn’t really sense the cheese. It was more like regular french fries dropped into a bath of gravy, instead of the gravy put on top of the fries. A subtle distinction, but if you order them you will see what I mean. I’d rather go for fries with gravy at a local diner. And the cheesy biscuit was doughy instead of flaky. Our server was cheery, friendly and helpful. The atmosphere is nice and the fact that they have sort of a private large parking lot is helpful with Long Island parking issues. The food is good, but it just missed the ‘wow’ factor, and frankly for the type of place it is, it’s also not cheap. To get me to return, I need that wow factor, and that’s why I landed on three stars instead of four.

What’s with the mediocre reviews lately?! Meh… Here’s to hoping I get something stellar soon or I might lose my mind! Only kidding… Today I came in for a quick bite to eat and service was pretty slow. The girl who sat us told us that our waiter will be over shortly. Turns out the only time we saw our waiter was when he put the check down & when he went to grab the plate the sliders were on. Ketchup dish was still on plate and he went to take it away even though we still had fries. We ordered: — Lobster Roll Sliders — Burnt Sprout Leaves — Side of Mac & Cheese — 2 Waters with Lemon(no one came to refill) The only reason why I’m honestly giving Jackson’s a 3 is because of the Burnt Sprout Leaves & the girl who sat us/served us. The Lobster Roll sliders were decent but kinda needed more something because the biscuit was rather dry. So maybe some more of the dill dressing would make it less dry. The Mac & Cheese wasn’t the best I’ve had.(PS — Tullulah’s you still win!) It was for sure lacking in flavor. The star of the show in my opinion was the Burnt Sprout Leaves. It was crispy brussel sprout leaves in this apple cider vinegar. That I would go back for. The other two… not so much. Sorry Jackson’s.
