Not so much a review — but a memory that just hit me!
Sometime in ¹⁹⁸³⁄₄ (this place has been here FOREVER) me and 2 friends had just come from Adventureland as well as it being the FIRST time I had ever smoked POT!
We stopped here on the way home for «munchies».
It must have been a Friday Or Saturday night — the place was crowded as the 3 of us had to sit and eat at the counter (which I usually avoid if I can).
Anyway– I cannot recall what I had ordered but I remember felling like we were 3 big FAT pigs eating at the counter and EVERYONE in the diner was looking at us eating out of the «pig feeding trough» ! I was really embarrassed and PARANOID.
Mind you — even though the 3 of us were not obese — all three of us (at the time) were «full figured» nonetheless (I’m talking 15 to 20 pounds overweight). LOL.
I had a better time in the Spookhouse back at Adventureland that night…

The large, male host was rude and a poor judge of a wait. We were lied to on the phone a week in advance about being able to call ahead for a table on Mother’s Day. They lied to get us in the door and then had us wait over 40 minutes while asking me to move around 3 – 4 times.
Do not come here on busy days because they are liars and slow.

Amazing diner, amazing food, sweet servers.
My girlfriend hates diners and I love them. I wanted to go to a diner and she came along very skeptical of everything.
I ordered my usual, chicken tenders and fries with mozzarella cheese and gravy. She ordered a chicken BBQ panini type dish. And she loved it!
She apologized of always thinking that diner sucked. Now one of our favorite places.
Only reason I am giving 4 instead if 5 is because they don’t have the regular brown gravy that normally go on disco fries.

Dinner specials are enough food for 2 nights, always leave room for Dessert!!!
Owners are always present and attentive, prices range from $ 14-$ 24 3 – 4 Course Complete Dinners. If it’s not on the menu they will Make it for you just ask.

It’s amazing how much this place has improved over the years. I gave them a scathing review ages ago, then a decent one, and now not sure if they’ve been under new mgmt again but I not only gave them a chance, I became a regular! Food is fresh and flavorful now! And I’ve been on a diet but their salads are even great. That sugar free blueberry cheesecake is a fave of mine!

This used to be our go to Diner when we lived in Deer Park. Food is decent and only decent as its kinda bland. Depending on when you go it’s packed and packed to the point where if you try to pay your check you have to make it through the maze as there really is no room for people to wait. Never had issues with waiters/waitresses. Only main issue is sometimes they get overwhelmed and may forget your refill or your food comes not as you asked. One time they forgot my fries.
Overall, not too shabby but there are better places around.

Ho hum another diner outdated and bland. Food is the same bla bla bla you find at any diner with a touch of $. For some reason a Blt sandwich is $ 12 without fries… Who would think a leaf of lettuce, 2 slices of bacon, 2 slices of tomato and 2 slices of toast cost $ 12.00? My math-$ 1.50. Do not ask for the mayo, they charge extra… But hey– it is the honor to eat in Dix Hills.

Very nice diner with friendly waitstaff. Eggs are always cooked to perfection, onion rings done right too.
Their chicken wings have the right crunch and are full of flavor.

Each time I visit this place when you open the door you are hit with disinfectant. Now that’s is great but I am unsure of why it is so strong and it has happened several times. Last time It was bleach. The waiter seated us immediately. They had some business networking group in the back room that was interesting to watch from afar. Coffee was given immediately, orders taken promptly. Asked for dry toast and both were delivered sopping wet with butter. Guess no one communicated with the chef to give me my toast «dry» and there aren’t any gluten free options here for bread products. They report they don’t need to offer those things. Breakfast was good. again the disinfectant smell wrecks havoc on my min each time I visit.

Yesterday we ordered egg white spinach and feta omelette. They even offered roasted tomatoes on the side for us because we don’t do toast and hash browns. Service was so fast. Coffee was good. Love this place!

I will not return to DHD as it’s not 2015 technology food friendly and, I will write the owner had a snarky attitude, «no time soon he bellowed out to me!»
I replied, «Flintstone age is archaic and until you are up with the times I’m not coming back!»
He replied, I’m a food service and I replied, «so is Starbucks, Rib Eye, Applebee’s, Pancake House, you need to address internet not be rude to your client!»

So this was the second time I ordered breakfast from this diner, the first time was ok. They got my order wrong but re-made it and the food was delicious I must say. The second time I ordered the same breakfast. Banana pancakes but this time I didn’t just find pancakes with banana, my pancakes had a big screw inside that I could of swallow!!! Yes a big screw!!! And when I called to tell the manager I was offer a $ 50 gift card. Really a $ 50 gift card?! My daughter or myself could of been seriously injure or who knows, by the size of this screw anyone could die if swallowed it.
I will never order from this diner in my life time. Who knows what else goes into your food!!! This felt like it was done on purpose!!!

Ah, the Dix Hills Diner is the diner of my youth! I spent most of the mid 90’s eating fries and drinking coffee at 2am in the vacuumed sealed smoking section. Memories… anyway, the DHD is still just a diner. Fries were good, the cheeseburger deluxe was perfectly acceptable. The lemon meringue pie was a hot mess though. Under baked crust and just an all over weird fake-lemon taste.
Can I get change for the jukebox?

Pretty good pancakes! You get what you pay for — it’s a plain and simple diner. My grandmother says that the desserts are really great, since they make them fresh each day. My cousin’s blueberry pancakes were nearly burnt, but he says that that doesn’t happen often. Worth another try.

Hello. I’m back again. Had very good service from Chris. Food was very good. French onion soup very strong (bitters a little too much). I had turkey burger with sweet potato fries/slaw very fresh. Coffee is also premium. Nice place.

It’s a typical Long Island diner. Lots of options on the menu and you an order breakfast anytime of day. I went with a chicken panini with roasted red peppers and spinach. It looked delicious and was huge, but when I bit into it, there wasn’t much flavor and it was rather dry. The fries were crunchy and hot. We all shared a reese’s peanut butter cheesecake, which was huge and incredible!
Service was quick and efficient. Prices were reasonable. If you’re hungry, it’s a good stop.

Eh… diner. It was open, so we went, but the food is just… meh. I don’t have high expectations for my diner food, and I don’t compare it to other places, but the fried food we got was soggy, and the servers were particularly inattentive, given it’s emptiness.
