I have never had a more embarrassing or insulting dining experience in my entire life. We were very excited to come to this restaurant to celebrate my grandmother’s 91st birthday. We were a large party and brought a lot of business to the restaurant(spending over 800 dollars on food and drink). The owner had the audacity at the end of the meal to approach my father(who helped my grandmother calculate the tip), in front of our guests and tell him(very loudly and in front of the entire restaurant) that we did not tip generously enough. The tip we gave was at least double the tax. When we explained the reason why the tip was calculated as it was he proceeded to yell in front of our entire party about how our tip was the«type that you give at the diner across the street!» and not at a restaurant such as his. His hot-headed temper and blatant disrespect for our hard earned money and business that we chose to spend at his restaurant was appalling. The owner raised his voice and became very confrontational in front of the entire restaurant. He continued to barrage us with insults from the front desk as we were leaving. If you want to come to a place where you will be embarrassed and judged by the amount you choose to tip(which trust me, was calculated very fairly based on the level of service and attention to our party that was given), this is the place for you! I will NEVER be back here again.

Worst dining experience of my life. Went there for New Year’s eve celebration and had a 9 o’clock reservation. Did not get seated until 11 o’clock. After finally being seated it Took 30 minutes just to get a first drink. In that 30 minutes after being seated we tried to go to the bar to order our own drinks and they said no they can’t do that because we’re seated at a table. On top of that food came out exactly as New Year’s was coming in at midnight. Waiter was rude and not once did the owner/manager come up to us to apologize or make amends. I will not be ever going back there again and you should think twice about it as well. If I could give zero stars I would.

The food was very good. Oysters Rockafeller excellent as were the oysters on the shell. The duck moist and flavorful. The staff attentive not hovering. The steak and salmon were delicious. A must for those who enjoy good food.

Foods great with an «old school» vibe. I keep trying the specials and they are a home run. Well priced too.

Had the early bird special — tues to friday 4pm to 6pm –3 courses for $ 25. Awesome. A great selection for the budget. Then we topped off with fried oysters and shrimp cocktail. Also a pleasure! The service was amazing! They are on top of it and waiters all work together! Love that! The owner came and introduced himself. Nick, a great touch! And the whiskey sours straight up were on point!!! Thanks for making our Friday a fun night!!!

I’m really between 3 and 4 stars for this one but I’m giving them the benefit of the doubt. The food was really great. Like, awesome. I had the caprese and the pesto cavatelli and both were great. Possibly the best pesto dish I’ve ever had and I’m a huge pesto person. The biggest con of this restaurant is the setup. The entryway is extremely cramped. We had to wait about 20 minutes past our reservation surrounded by people which was uncomfortable. I believe it was a manager who was running the host desk and she seemed pretty frazzled. She should have had another host to seat people while she ran the books. Once we were seated everything went smoothly. They only had 5 or 6 bottles of white and there was no by-the-glass list(though they did offer select varietals by the glass). I thought the wine situation was weird but not that big of a deal in the end. Our food came out in reasonable time and, like I said, it was delicious. This place just needs some polishing.

Solid Italian food for Long Island. I ordered the pasta with pesto for my entrée. The pasta was cooked perfectly and the pesto was very tasty. They added a small amount of tomato sauce to the dish. I’m not sure why. It shouldn’t be there. The shrimp cocktail was good. 3 or 4 large shrimp. However it was overpriced. The salad was disappointing. The greens weren’t fresh. It’s a pretty small restaurant with a bar area when you walk in. They had a singer there on this night which gave the place a chilled vibe. Plenty of parking in the lot. I would try this restaurant again.

Wow! What a fantastic place to eat. I went here for a birthday dinner just recently and the food was out of this world. The waitress’s were so helpful, and took there time telling us all the specials. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone one of the best I have been to in a long time. Thank you so much

I don’t know what the NY times was thinking. This is just another restaurant in the long list of boring Italian spots. Overbearing waitstaff added to the mediocracy of the joint. Also, it was less than half empty on a Saturday night. Good luck Bi vio.

What a lousy restaurant. First warning — they think ‘Bi Vio’ means ‘a fork in the road’ Vio translates to ‘violence’ not ‘road’. Bi is untranslatable. Then they think there’s a dish called ‘Chicken Scarpiello’ Even Rachael Ray knows how to spell it. Get her recipe, you so called chefs, and make it with some white meat as well as the cheapo wings and legs. A little garlic wouldn’t hurt, either. And then there’s the overcooked pasta. And the waiter who didn’t know the name of the fish in the seafood special. Makes you almost wish that Fred was back running this restaurant. Skip it. If it weren’t for the loud, noisy and busy bar scene, I’d say it wouldn’t be around long.
