I almost didn’t stop in here because most of the reviews are not that good. It is close to the hotel I’m staying in and I didn’t want to spend time driving around a town im not familiar with so I took a chance. Glad I did. Service was prompt(I think Justin was my server). I ordered the Greek salad. Didn’t take long to get my order, the salad was really big and looked great. The grilled chicken was tender and seasoned well. Really liked the crispy pepperoni-nice touch. Had the right amount of black olives, red onion and feta cheese. Next time I’m in town, will stop in here again.

Went there twice. First time asked for no onions. Got onions. Second time asked for horseradish. Got no horseradish. Every other person I was there with said their food was just… bland. Food was extraordinarily mediocre. Texan Twister tasted like a chewable multivitamin.

We ate here in the mid afternoon as a group. We thoroughly enjoyed our experience, the food, the waitress, and the whole atmosphere. It was our first time here, but not our last.

Every time I come here I regret it. The service is terrible. The menues are always sticky. Any time you order an item that comes with some sort of appetizer like bread you have to ask for it. I just went in was seated waited 10 to 15 minutes and no waiter. The room full of screaming kids didn’t help either. The other dining room was a gohst town. The food is low quality and bland. I left without ordering. I went to luigis now I have bread and drinks holy cow!

Everything is just mediocre. Service, food, atmosphere all are lacking. The prices are terrible. $ 30 for lunch sandwiches is not what you would expect to pay at a place like this.

Horrible service! Consider yourself lucky if you actually get the«bread» that supposedly comes with certain meals, and if you do more than likely it will be undercooked BEWARE. Grilled veggies are so salty you can hardly swallow without gagging. Beer selection has been the same for past 4 years, along with management because this place continues to dissapoint. Will NEVER be back! Save your hard earned dollars for Luigis Italian not far down the road.

The height of mediocrity pretty much sums it up. The staff is not friendly. The hostess actually never greeted us at all. The bus boy saw us waiting and getting impatient and seated us. The wait staff need to be trained on basic hygiene. There are things you don’t do when you are waiting tables. Don’t wipe your runny nose on the back of your hand and the reach in to start putting ice in drinks. Don’t dig in your ear with a coaster and then use that same coaster to serve a drink. Don’t serve food without a beard net when you have a full beard. Don’t bring me wet silverware. Don’t pick up spilled food off the floor and then go grab someone’s fresh plate. Just really fing disgusting. Worst of all this wasn’t all the same person. It’s apparent ok to be nasty if you work here. Makes me wonder what the kitchen and walkin look like. Epic management fail for not correcting it since there was a manager there… just one who needs to spend less time ogling the coed waitresses behinds and more time watching what they do.

A local favorite that’s been around for years, and still going strong. I’ve never had a bad experience here, or been anything less than happy with the food and service! Very clean and nice interior. My personal favorite is the chicken Alfredo, which comes with garlic bread and a salad. Definitely plenty of food! I usually end up getting two meals at once from it!

Best place to eat in Commerce! Great variety. I can understand some of the negative reviews if you’re used to the variety of city living, but I would still put this place much better than any Applebee’s, Chili’s, or similar restaurant within a 50 mile radius(and cheaper too!). Menu is similar to Applebee’s, but a bit more pared down(which is understandable for a privately owned restaurant). Also, great pizza buffet with a «specialty» item that is offered once a week from M-TH. Caters toward the college crowd and families. I will say, my fiancé and I are both going to miss this place when we leave the Commerce area.

I have been eating ar Lone Star over the last three years every Tuesday for the chicken fried steak on the buffet with some coworkers. The service was great but the service and food has been getting worse and worse. Today was then last straw, my 10 month old went with us and I fed him two French Fries off my plate fron the buffet and I was charged for a child’s buffet. I was told that no matter how much they eat, that if a child has any food that they charge for the full child’s buffet.

If you have no other option this place is fine. The menu has about 200 things on it so it’s hard to find a dish that isn’t just average. It’s a little pricy for the quality of food. There have been 2 occasions where I got painfully sick from eating here. Both times all I had was a baked potato and sweet tea. I’ve eaten here plenty of times though as there are not many options in Commerce and I just learned to stay away from the potato section on the menu… yes there is a potato section — as I said the menu is ridiculous. Don’t hate this place, but if there were more options I wouldn’t recommend eating here.

Lone Star is a fairly good option for those looking for a restaurant that offers something different than your typically chain restaurants. They are known primarily for their pizzas and have a pizza buffet which is open for lunch during the week. Independent of pizzas you have a good list of menu options to choose from. However I cannot guarantee that you will receive efficient service. Typically it can take anywhere from 45 minutes to 1 hour in order to receive your food. Therefore if you work in the area and have a limited lunch period, you may want to dine somewhere else. However if you decide to do the buffet for lunch you will not have to worry about the efficiency of the wait staff.

It’s the only decent place to eat in Commerce for a single 20-something, and it’s changed a lot over the years. The new building off of the highway has a somewhat-fun atmosphere; the inside is nice, and the menu offers pretty much everything but the kitchen sink. Their chicken strips and mashed potatoes are very good. They also have good cheese bread things, and most everything is served with the good kind of ranch dressing.(Can you tell I’m from the country?) The past few times I’ve been the service has sucked. The waiters and bartenders are depressed college kids with zero personality or customer service skill. I did get a sweet old lady once, but that was during the day, and for a to-go order at that. If you plan on getting an order to-go, make sure you call and/or order at least 30 minutes in advance. Also, they basically close at sunset. Not really, but I’m used to big city restaurants closing in the wee morning hours, and when I stopped by here on my way home a few months ago for dinner, they were closing around 10pm it felt like. –_– On a lighter note, I grew up going to Lone Star as a kid, as it’s 20 minutes from my hometown, so I’m a fan. They used to have the best greasy pasta and loaded potato spuds. Mmm. Final verdict: I’ll give ‘em a thumbs up on here.

I’ve been here twice. The food is good(chicken fried steak, burgers and the baked potatoes) but the mac and cheese is awesome! The service is also great, last time I went the manager came to our table and asked us to move so they could accommodate a party with a high chair, he offered to give us 25% off of our meal. We waited a little bit to be attended after our move but it was peak dinner time on Friday night. The same manager then came to our table and comped our meal. Great experience and good food :)

Service can vary from ok to really poor… tending more towards poor. Asked my 46 year old wife for id to get a drink and then wouldn’t serve her because her license was in the car. 1st visit my steak was unedible. Wayyyyy overlooked. 2nd trip we had burgers which weren’t bad but nothing special. Been back a couple of times since and found it to be ok. They probably wouldn’t do well if there was more competition.

Good drinks most of the time. Food ranges from bad to pretty good depending on the time in which you go and the cook for the day. My favorites here are the Zuchini, which is really fresh and good, the Turkey Ranch sandwhich, Down Home Spud, and Lone Star Taters are good. Like I said this place is inconsistant to say the least, but most of the things listed above are always good.

Disclaimer: I’m a first-time visitor to Commerce and am comparing this to food in the cities, not other restaurants in Commerce. The atmosphere in this place is nice, family grill with a Texas rustic theme. Service was good and prompt. The food was pretty mediocre, though. I ordered a chicken and artichoke pasta that was essentially a bowl of greasy cheese with some noodles and chicken thrown in. The cheesy potato appetizers were ok but again a little heavy on the cheese and grease. My wife liked her quesdillas a little more but they were not anything special. Sadly we were told this is one of the best places in Commerce.
