Checkmate Pizza

«The customer is wrong or a liar» when wrong orders are reported back on delivery.
I have to first say that Checkmate has Excellent pizza a bit more pricey than others in town but worth every penny, their wings and tenders are amazing!!! With that said their subs are not worth it, ordered a grilled chicken sub and you’d be hard pressed to find the tiny pieces of chicken, it was mainly a sub roll.
Getting back to the main reason for this post. My husband and I order here a couple times a month (2 – 4) most of the time there is a wait but again worth it for their pizza. We have had a couple issues in the past with delivery. If you have a complaint or get a wrong order they do not take it well and lean on the side of «the customer is wrong»!! We ordered our usual 20″ pizza and an order of buffalo wings (well done). It was an hour wait, finally came and the pizza was great, but they brought us tenders instead of wings. I called immediately and the guy who answered argued with me and told me I ordered tenders, I told him I ordered wings, just opened them and this is not what I wanted. He then put his supervisor on the phone who also told me that is what I ordered and that he heard the order and went back to throw them in as I said it. This ;from a guy who had to ask me three times for my phone number in the beginning of the call. He told me next time. when I cut him off and told him there will not be a next time.
It is sad b/​c the pizza is great and the wings and tenders are good but to be treated that way is totally unacceptable. I would go here in person to pick up food as they are always friendly, accommodating and show you your food before you leave the building. I have to say that the delivery people are always great and that we even owe one a better tip b/​c the last time we ordered we could only afford the pizza, ;which we will go in and rectify as the kid deserves a good tip.
Sadly, we will no longer frequent or order from Checkmate and it really surprises me that they do not care about losing good, steady customers. They are not the only game in town, maybe they forgot. I would have given lower star rating but I have to be honest the pizza and other items I mentioned are very good, if they get your order right.

Excellent pie. We ordered the large, which is very big. The flavor was really really good. The delivery time was quick. I would definitely order from Checkmate again!

Every time we order from Check Mate we love it. We’d highly recommend pizza and take out is always efficient and great service. Do it.

I have only one complaint about Checkmate, no french fries.
The food is always very good and the delivery team is very prompt and courteous. I love the fact it is very easy to order online.

I ordered at 11:20 today my lunch never arrived until 12:30. I was told it would take 30 mins. I also work .03 miles away. The food left the building at 12:00 and arrived 30 mins later ???

One of the few places that delivers to our house in Bow, and they are always kind, responsive, and the pizza is always great. Even my picky eater daughter will devour a specialty «Mediterranean» pizza we get made (pesto base, tomatoes, black olives, feta, spinach).

I have been coming here since I was little love love LOVE the pizza!!! Always in pint nice dough crust PERFECT!

Hands down my favorite pizza in Concord! You get the best bang for your buck because the large pizzas are indeed LARGE. If you want pizzas for a big party or gathering look no further because Checkmate is definitely the best option!

This is the only place I ordered from when I lived in Concord. The Chef salad is amazing and the pizza never disappoints. I still get take out when I am in the area. I just wish they had seating in the shop.

I’ve been going here ever since my original hangout pizza joint fell on bad times then closed. The pizza is for lack of a better term good i do often find they could cook it a little longer but the ingrediants are fresh. I order from them more then i should moneywise but they are that good the subs are excellent the staff is generally very polite and drivers are always polite and say hi and thank you. I do find when i go in that people are really tense though i chalk it up to how busy they are i mean holy crap people who wrote a bad review on the delivery times need to go in and see how ridiculous it gets for such a small joint.

Ordered delivery to my hotel– it was quick and food was still hot. My delivery driver was friendly and cute.
Great mozzarella sticks! Ordered a calzone– spinach & feta. Only, they forgot the spinach… Uh-​ga-​ga-​ga!
Also, I wish they had heated the marinara.
Otherwise, the flavor was good.

Checkmate pizza is slightly below mediocre in my opinion. Service is usually average at best, and the food is nothing to write home about. The pizza tastes like it should be cooked longer and is seriously lacking in flavor. No place to eat in, they just do takeout and delivery, but the place itself is messy and uninviting.
It’s cheap though, and it certainly qualifies as decent drinking food. It will get you by in a pinch, or late night when nothing else is open. Otherwise there are many better options in concord.

This is THE pizza pace I go to in Concord when i want a traditional Pie. My usual here is a 22″ pie (their «Large») and a free (yes free) Medium Pizza — just tell them «you have a coupon», which they never ask for when they deliver! They are usually pretty quick with deliveries too.
The only :“knock” on them is you can’t eat there — it is purely a take-​out or delivery location.

A fairy tale pizza experience. I am here on business and needed a place open late that delivers. When asked whether they preferred that I order over the phone or online, the guy that took my call said «follow your heart!» He also wished me an enchanting evening at the close of our conversation. And that’s just what I did thanks to some tasty pizza. Thanks, Checkmate!

More like a 3 ½ star. I will start with the negatives because they’re minor. When delivering to a hotel there should always be plates, napkins, and forks. Luckily all was supplied by Best Western. When cutting a large calzone 4 pieces is not manageable. one more cut and it would have been 8 good size pieces. The positives. they gave me $ 5 off even though I couldn’t print a coupon. Food was hot and timely. You can order online which some people like. The big 20″ pizza plus a large meat lover calzone was more than enough food for a family of 5. Pizza was pretty good and the calzone was packed. Everyone had leftovers the next day. Paid by CC over the phone and tipped on the slip. Delivery guy was friendly and he came right up to the room. Some places make you go to the lobby.

I honestly thought after reading the reviews for Checkmate Pizza that I had mistakenly ordered from the wrong pizza place. I’ve ordered pizza there a few times because it’s open until 11pm and everything else in Concord seems to close when the sun goes down. My experiences have never been truly awful, but they’ve also never been good.
The first time I ordered from Checkmate, I made the mistake of ordering a large without looking at the menu (yes, my own mistake) only to realize that I’d signed up for a $ 20-​something MONSTER of a pizza. Their large isn’t the standard 16 inch pizza, so be careful! What really bothered me about this experience is that when I politely repeated the price back to the girl behind the counter, thinking I’d misheard, she gave me a nasty glare and snapped «that’s what I said!»
I’ve ordered from there another couple times since then and the service has ranged from bad to mediocre, as has the food. Every pizza is like a contest to try to use more oregano than the previous one.
I know that there aren’t a lot of options for decent food around here after the evening hours, but if Checkmate is really the only option, I’ll stick with a 10:30pm bowl of Cheerios.

Amazing food here, everything I have tasted here from the pizza to the salads are just stunning, Couldn’t ask for better. The prices are very decent. There isn’t enough words to describe how great they are.

Wasn’t impressed with it compared to a couple other places in Concord. But definitely better than any of the chains.

I’m not very partial to their pizza, but tonight they helped me out in a jam. Spending way too much time in the library can fry one’s mind. The guy behind the counter was really nice and dealt with me in my dazed state. Thanks, man.
What makes Checkmate even more special to me now is the fact that they are open until 11 p.m. on a Tuesday night, when everything else has closed. I’ve been skipping their pizza and going straight for the calzones. The dough they use is a bit bready for my taste where they seal ‘er up, but otherwise tasty, with well distributed pieces of pepperoni. No, not mounds of pepperoni with each bite, but nicely parsed out amongst the innards, ensuring you won’t get bored, or sick of, all that pepperoni deliciousness.
