In Concord Delta Debris Box service has a monopoly on the debris box service therefore I guess they feel they can charge absorbent fees. I tried calling around and nobody else is allowed to drop a box in Concord or at least in my area. I manage construction in the City so I know what the going price for debris removal is. I got a 20 yard initially for the price of a 40 yard in the City but was okay with that. I was told I had a 2 ton limit in the $ 479(20) yard debris box or it’s $ 97 a ton thereafter for the amount I go over. I was getting rid of busted up concrete and was told I couldn’t fill it up more than 2 ½’ up the sides. Okay okay that’s fine I did as I was told so the truck could lift the box when they picked it up. I was charged over $ 1,000 for the maxed out 7’Wx15’Lx2 ½’H dimension. $ 479 for the initial 2 tons and $ 97 a ton after that. Almost 63lbs a cubic foot. Cured concrete can be anywhere from 130−150lbs a cubic foot solid so since this was loose un-compacted that is probably about right. Anyway my low rating is because with the monopoly they have the rates are higher. In San Francisco you can shop around forcing the Recology’s and Waste Management’s of the world to be competitive and they offer discounts for for waste diversion. Concrete is recyclable, not waste. Just want people to be aware of what they’re getting themselves into. They said what I could do and I couldn’t find fault in what they charged me although high in price so I give them a mediocre rating of 2 stars.
