This is literally the worst bowling alley I’ve ever been to! For one it looks like an old, dilapidated, run down hangout that no one goes to. The whole time we were there no one came in(and for a good reason). We had to keep our own score by hand and the shoes were filthy! That’s just the beginning! The employees were the most rude people I had ever met. I walked in with my 2 year old daughter, cousin, aunt, mother, and brother, and when my mom asked the employee if they had the little ramps children use to help them bowl the man said, «those are ONLY for handicapped people.» My mom said«we have a 2 year old» and he dared to say, «well she’s too young to play anyways» and charged her for shoes and a game. Needless to say when I told my mother I wasn’t going to bowl just help my daughter the man said, «well you cannot go out and help without our shoes on and if I see you walk out on that floor I’m charging you. I’ll watch you the whole time.» I was astonished. Not only was my 2 year old too young to bowl anyways, he was charging me to help her. As I was helping my mom pay and get shoe sizes a heard a man sitting on his lazy can yell, «GETOFFTHATFLOOR!» Hatefully to my daughter and cousin who was helping her get off so she wouldn’t fall. These men were the most hateful people I’ve ever met! We asked for help one time for pins that were stuck and they hesitated getting off their cans. This was the first time my daughter or cousin has ever been bowling before and it was a train wreck! I will never go back!!! I recommend to anyone looking for a good bowling alley to avoid this ghetto place and go to foxfire lanes in kannapolis! It’s worth a few cents more and much more remodeled and clean equipment! In addition the employees at foxfire lanes are SOOOOO much more friendly! Don’t waste you time, money, and sanity at fryes! You’ll be very disappointed!

When Dave and Buster’s was a bust, we took my sister’s party to Frye’s Lake Lanes to celebrate her birthday on Saturday, February 11th! Two very different places, but I’d say this one was definitely far better. A gravel parking lot and dimly lit area, but not because it’s ghetto or anything like that — it’s just completely lacking in any pretenses. Across the parking lot is a roller rink for those who have interest in that. We walked in to a really loud place so that had us wary for a second. The guy behind the counter seemed a little ruff around the edges in his black t-shirt with his spikey hair, tattooed neck and arms, gruff voice, but he was just matter of fact business mode. Shoe rental $ 2. $ 3.25 per game for each person. They were short on shoes and my size 8 was not only a little loose, but couldn’t lace up all the way. Oh well. After setting my stuff down I made my way to the concessions counter because I was hungry! I ordered a hot dog, fries, and a soda. The hot dog was only $ 1.95 and was really good although a bummer since they were out of ketchup for the dog and fries. My total for all three things came to $ 5.05 though! The girl behind the counter was slow to cook, but very sweet and my dog and fries came out tasting gooood. They hit the spot too. We had a good old time bowling although there was a bit of competiton between us and some of the other locals’ honky tonk country music. Everyone was friendly though so it was no biggie even if we out-of-towners seemed a little out of place. The 13 of us had a blast nonetheless! Pros: Not too crowded thus creating a very personal atmosphere Pick your own music from the juke box Super Cheap Bowling AND food Easygoing Friendly Service Cons: No alcohol No machines to help you with your score Cash not accepted at concessions Shortage of shoe selection Food/drinks selection is limited. On any day they could be out of anything from condiments to burgers
