The service is friendly and the food is tasty. I got the tofu and eggplant curry clay pot with white rice.

My husband is a vegetarian and loves the place. I love the fact that he can eat dishes he used to before he gave up meat. If we are in the area we would come here again. There was not an empty seat in the restaurant when we were there.

Pros: * Good service * Delicious vegetarian food * Good prices Cons: * Outside appearance not very appealing – makes one second guess the credibility of Unilocal reviews, since it looks kinda abandoned(tends to have zero customers present) * Inside is pretty hot(at least during the time I went – June 2nd) * Décor looks a bit dull, but did not appear old * Water was not too tasty – mine wasn’t cold enough for my preference… luke warm water is pretty nasty imo. * Thai Iced Tea was too sugary/sweet – saw, tasted, and felt the sugar granules. * I don’t like having to park on the side-walk, but maybe I am unaware of better parking Summary: * Overall: 4.5÷5 stars(cannot rate that on Unilocal, but they are closer to 5 stars than 4) * Interior: 6⁄10 * Food: 9⁄10 * Service: 8.5÷10 Nothing special, nothing wrong. Only room for improvement is a friendly smile, but not necessary – still nice to have. I ordered the Vermicelli w/marinated meat(Tofu). I love tofu, so one cannot go too wrong here. The bowl was pretty tasty! Was a little too meat saucy for my preference, but overall delicious and appealing! My mother got the salted and peppered shrimp. The dish included julienned cucumbers and carrots with a supremely delicious sauce: D Did not have high expectations of this place at first, but it turned out to be delicious!

Tasty food with a great selection for veg-heads and omnivores alike. Service was quick and friendly, too! I highly recommend the sesame eggplant dish. If I’m ever back in the area I’ll keep this place in mind.

Just a a delightful dining experience. The food was full of flavor. The wait staff was patient and friendly. Mist important, everything was absolutely delicious. I had my ten year old grand daughter with me and she couldn’t believe the deep fried fish was 100% vegetable. She loved everything too. That’s probably the best gauge to measure this wonderful little restaurant by. Kid approved! We will definitely be back.

Somewhere in me there is an über healthy chick wanting to get out! And I will get there, slowly but surely. :) Thanks to my Unilocal friends, I found out about this vegetarian restaurant Veggie Today in Concord. I am not a vegetarian, but I do want to eat healthier and after I read the reviews and checked out the photos, I left work excitedly to check out some brand new mouth-tummy-deliciousness to have a late lunch! Review for My First Time Visit on Wednesday, 5÷18÷18 around 2:30 pm GOODTOKNOW — SOYMEATDISHES — All the«meat» dishes here — beef, chicken, and shrimp — are made from soybeans. I knew this ahead of time, having read the reviews and looked at the menu online. I’m no stranger to soy meat and have had it before. — YOUCANNOTBEATTHELUNCHSPECIALPLATESFOR $ 6.75! Lunch special plates are served over rice — your choice of white or brown rice. — Lunch special is from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm. See my PICS of the menu! — This place closes in between 3:00 — 5:00 pm to transition from lunch to dinner, and reopens at 5:00 pm for dinner. — Is closed on Mondays LOCATION Located next door to Swagat Indian cuisine and kinda across the street from the Brenden Movie Theater. There was street parking available when I got there. There is a parking garage nearby as well. WHAT I ORDERED I ordered MONGOLIANBEEFOVERRICE lunch special To-Go($ 6.75). I called ahead to order and was helped by LOC, who was friendly over the phone and also when I got there in person. This place is just minutes from my office, and my to-go meal was already ready by the time I arrived. I also ordered a Thai Iced Tea($ 3.50) to treat myself on this hellaciously hot day. The Thai Iced Tea was good, I just wish the to-go cup container was bigger because I was thirsty. I was going to wait until I got home to eat my newfound deliciousness(I left work and was driving home), but alas, I could not wait. After all, it was after 2:30 pm and I hadn’t had lunch yet! So I ate there unconspicuously in my car, while the Beastie Boys was bumping on the radio. And I ate and ate. And kept eating — until it was all gone! Not what I had planned to do. It was a generous portion for one person — I was totally full. I felt like I did something wrong, but I loved it at the same time! ;) What did I think of the soymeat of my Mongolian Beef? The texture was impressive, similar to meat, but not meat. It was tender, easy to chew, inviting, and it went well with the brown rice I chose. The medley of the sauce, red and green bell peppers, and sliced onions went very well together. **** I just kept thinking: «I can’t believe this is not meat» Chew, chew, chew, swallow. **** And again, «I can’t believe this is not meat.» It’s important to note that I did not get that heavy feeling that you usually get after eating real meat. Which tells me my body was diggin’ this experience. RESULT — SMILEOFYUMMYAPPROVAL My first-time experience here at Veggie Today was like meeting a new potential boyfriend. You like him right away, are very curious about him, are attracted to him, and you want to know more! So that’s how I feel about this place. I can’t wait to go back and try another dish — maybe next week! Another customer in the restaurant ordered something that looked like the diggety-bomb. I asked what it was and it was the V7(number on the menu) Combination Chow Mein($ 7.99). I am also curious to try the Salted and Pepper Shrimp($ 13.50) because I’ve never had veggie shrimp before, however, I do love me some shrimp! And the picture looks very mesmerizing and is calling my name. So I shall see you soon for another date, Veggie Today. You are now in my «boyfriend» rotation of restaurants and I look forward to getting to know you better!

The VegeGregian Review: I’ve never experienced vegetarian vietnamese food until i went to this place. I have over 15 check ins here on Unilocal and i’ve tried basically all the noodle soups. The vermicelli curry noodle soup(2.7) and spicy noodle soup(2.2) are my favorites! Their broths are so tasty and they combine a mixtures of meatless proteins to add more variety. When i come with my family we always get the sauteed lemongrass chicken which is TODIEFOR and usually the green bean tofu which is also delicious. Their salt and pepper shrimp is also scarily close to real shrimp(former meat eater for 23 years) and is also a keeper. If you come in a big group also try the vietnamese sizzling crêpe which is delicious and will be passed around the table a bunch. Lastly, i have only tried one claypot– the fish claypot, which is very generous with imitation salmon and has a hearty gravy sauce perfect for going with your steamed rice.

Let me start out by saying I am a carnivore. My gf wanted some greens for dinner so I Unilocaled«healthy restaurants» in Concord, and this popped up. Okay okay… I see you, Concord! This place had me fooled. We ordered the salt and pepper shrimp. I know we were at a Vegan restaurant but I was so confused! I asked the waiter if this was real shrimp because I couldn’t believe how spot on the texture and taste was! Highly recommend this dish. We also ordered the Lotus Salad and it was delicious! Best part is at the end of the meal you don’t feel bloated. I will definitely return because there was an extensive menu and I am eager to try out their«meat» dishes.

After 4 years, I am finally able to eat Mongolian beef again!(Or any beef) Thanks to this place! I came here around lunch after class. You could park in front or there’s parking at the side as well, and it’s for an hour. This place is a little hard to notice when driving by so keep an eye out! Lunch specials are $ 6.75 — very good price especially since dishes come with brown or white rice. I obviously ordered the Mongolian beef and the portions were bigger than expected! Well, for me it was. First bite was a bit chewy, but you know, that’s expected for tofu and the flavor was pretty darn good. The brown rice was perfect and there were enough veggies too. I can’t wait to come back and hopefully convince my family to come so I can try more dishes!

Veggie today? More like«totally veggie every day». I’m a major fan of the ‘fake meat’ style places, and this is a pretty darn good one. The menu is a bit more wide than most places, the food was great. Ambience was a bit… ‘eh? And location left a bit to be desired. Still, who knew that downtown Concord had such a gem?

We don’t have many Vegetarian restaurants in our area, so I was really excited to see the reviews on this one. I had the«salmon», it was delicious! The serving size was large enough to have leftovers for lunch the next day. If I lived in Concord, I’d be there 2 – 3 times a week; so many options to choose from. This was like vegetarian heaven! Since I turned vegetarian the start of 2016, I have been researching vegetarian and vegan restaurants. My parents live in Concord and I wanted to take them out to lunch to a vegetarian/vegan place and Veggie Today had great reviews. I really didn’t know what to expect but boy, I was impressed! The prices are inexpensive($ 6.75 for the lunch specials). My mom and I had the Mongolian«chicken» and my dad had the curry«chicken». My meal was tasty and the texture of the«meat» was very similar to chicken. Lots of veggies with the meal and also not salty. My dad thought he was eating real chicken! I had to remind him that it was all vegetarian. I highly recommend this place. Next time I am in Concord, I am coming back. They had such an extensive menu that I wanted to try everything.

I love veggies and vegan food so I had been wanting to check this place out for a while, but it was near impossible to get my husband to give it a try so I ended up dining here alone for lunch one day. I ordered a bowl of soup($ 8.50) and a shrimp dish($ 13.50). The server warned me that it would be a lot of food. Not a problem — serve it spicy and I’ll eat it all! The fried salt and pepper shrimp came with jalapenos on top of a bed of veggies. The batter was fried crispy and the«shrimp» were delicious.(Anything salty and fried is going to be pretty good!) The soup was also full of veggies and had shrimp in it. It was terrific too. It was a lot of food but I managed to eat most of it. I took a little bit home and it was definitely better hot and fresh, but still was pretty good leftover too.

Oh my god. This place is the one. I will prob visit this place more than plenty. Like once or twice a day. I’m transitioning to vegetarian(closer to vegan with a few exceptions) bc of a tragedy I have endured lol I freakin got food poisoning from beef in the last few days, from fish two years ago and I don’t really eat pork and I can do without chicken … So this is what’s left. Pros– Ordered Fried drummettes Bamboo soup Rice combo plate Combination fried rice All delicious ! Shoved all of it down my gullet Owners and everybody is very sweet and great ppl. NOCONS ! I’m Viet so I’m excited to see this place here! It’s a bit out of my way but well worth it. Especially when I saw they give out free Buddhist scripture. It’s the one. Search over for me.

Super sweet staff! Quality food. I’m so happy to have stumbled across this place. My boyfriend and I ordered 4 entrees so that we could get the free appetizer and every single plate was so flavorful and filling. The gentleman serving us was very sweet and welcoming and understood my concern for only wanting vegan dishes. He assured me that the only food item on the menu that wasn’t 100% vegan was the wonton soup or the wonton appetizer. So anything wonton. And that was totally fine with me. Everything was so awesome. We’ll definitely be back again and again and again. This is honestly my new favorite spot. :)

Good vegetarian food is hard to find and this place is tasty! Must order: Lemongrass«Chicken» and the Spicy Noodle Soup. Its crazy how this vegetarian soup has so much flavor in it. Considering the soup has no meat in it, it certainly did not taste bland. I was impressed by the lemongrass«chicken» because the faux chicken they used made of some kind of chewy soy product tasted so much like chicken. The lemongrass seasoning on the outside was flavorful. I instantly felt healthy eating here! The restaurant appeared clean and the service was good.

I’m not vegan or vegetarian, but this place is delicious! I’ve had takeout from here before, but dining in is way better! Here’s what my cousin and I had for lunch. — Chicken Drumsticks: Delicious! A must try! You won’t be disappointed. — Beef with broccoli: Just okay. The meat texture was a little chewy. I probably won’t get this entrée again but I’ll def have to try the Shaking Beef next time. — Chicken Teriyaki: Taste and texture of the chicken was perfect! Entrée is full of flavor! — Chow Mein with Tofu: My favorite!

I totally forgot I had bookmarked Veggie Today when we walked by it after seeing a movie at the Brendan Concord theatre on Willow Pass Rd. We glanced at the menu posted on the front window and decided to try it out. There seems to be more and more vegetarian restaurants opening in the Concord/Walnut Creek area. As we were waiting for our food I checked in and noticed that my favorite Vegan Unilocal buds, Brandi, Roseanne P and John B had written rave reviews. Mr Mikey and I ordered: Vermicelli with Fried rolls served with vegan sauce Curry vegetables with brown rice lunch special Thai iced tea – a little too strong for me(but that’s just me I like it weaker) We really enjoyed the vermicelli bowl. Tasty fried rolls served with cold bean thread noodles, lettuce, strips of cucumber, bean sprouts, mint and peanuts… refreshing and satisfying. The curry veggie plate came with a mix of tofu, broccoli, carrots, zucchini in a nicely seasoned curry sauce served with brown rice. The staff was very friendly. The ambiance is simple but clean and comfy. The other diners appeared to be regulars – always a good sign. The lunch specials are $ 6.75; my vermicelli dish was also $ 6.75 Many of their entrees are $ 7.99 to $ 9.50 but there are several dishes that are priced at $ 12.50. I wanted to try out the Vietnamese Sizzling Crêpe but at $ 12.95 it seemed a bit expensive. We’re looking forward to eating here again with more people to try out more of their dishes.
