I have bought three stoves from Inglenook. A Jotul Oslo, a Jotul Winterport(this insert was awful FWIW), and a Quadrafire Mt. Vernon AE. All told, close to $ 10,000 worth of merchandise. So why are they so short and rude to me when I call and ask a few questions? I don’t know, but it’s kind of annoying. It seems like they are your best buddies when it comes to taking your money — but ask a few simple questions and it’s like they are late for a train or something. It doesn’t take much for me to go from valued customer to complete PITA. So next time I think I will spend my money someplace else.

I went in thinking I needed a new pellet stove and talked to the owner Dorothy. Rather than take my $ 3000 and sell me a new stove, she told me what was wrong with the one I have already and how to fix it. It is nice to see an honest business. Thank you Dorothy. When I do actually need a new fireplace/pellet stove, I’ll be coming back.

With Inglenook, I have not actually done business with them which is why I am relating my experience — let me explain. I went to them looking for a quote for a fireplace. Long story short, they quoted me ~$ 1,800 more than several other places quoted me to buy it — no install, etc. just the unit itself. Well, I have«internet», so I ultimately bought the same unit for the lower price form the internet and even after shipping saved over $ 1,500 dollars. I like to buy local but this is NOT a trivial sum of money! They may be nice to deal with, but I will never know because I refuse to pay a $ 1,500 premium because they are conveniently up the road… As always, it pays to shop around and do your homework.

We have mixed feelings about Inglenook’s. They are friendly but disorganized. They have poor communication skills. It is the kind of business where you must keep your records and phone log up to date in order to remind their staff what the recent discussions were, expectations, etc. Out of perhaps a dozen phone calls for questions involving what to order for our home and installation queries, they returned less than half of the calls promised. Perhaps we were the odd client that«fell through the cracks,» but it left a bad taste in our mouth and we will advise friends to go elsewhere for this kind of product. They were always apologetic and courteous, but at the end of the day it didn’t make up for the lost time and frustration they caused.

Hands down in my opinion this is the best place in the Denver area to buy a gas fireplace. We bought a Juel fireplace from Dorothy and Frank(the owners) and Michelle and Mary(staff we have also worked with). I cannot tell you how happy we are with the fireplace and their service. The entire experience has been wonderful(and I can be a tough critic). Inglenook and Juel stand behind their work and install. They have the old time customer service values that many other companies lack today. We were so happy we also bought a Big Green Egg from them. In my opinion if you are looking for a fireplace you could not do better then to turn to Inglenook and Dorothy and Frank.
