This is a great neighborhood joint where the sweet tea is sweet and served in large mason jars. The fried mac and cheese balls are enough to keep coming back. The prices are on point with the food. And everything tastes amazing. Do yourself a flavor and go for a visit!

I happened to be in this area getting work done on my car. The mechanic referred me to Los Compadres. First impressions: super clean and roomy. I ordered the chicken fried chicken with green beans and fried squash. The chicken was tender and the gravy could have used a little more pepper or maybe some garlic. The green beans were good and the squash(yellow squash not zucchini) was fried to perfection. I immediately ordered a second order of squash because it was so good. A couple of cons; the food could have used FLAVOR. The batter on the squash was bland. The portions were not huge, which is a good thing because you will be able to have room for the amazing deserts! I had coconut buttermilk pie! I will be in the area this weekend and I WILL be going back. I would give this review a 4.8, clean restaurant and VERY friendly service from all of the staff, the only ding is that the food is on the bland side. I will go back, though! It seems that the afternoon cook is way better than the morning cook. CFS was fried way too hard. When I had come for lunch the other day every thing was perfect! I purposely didn’t eat in Houston so that I would have a good appetite for breakfast… I should have stopped for an egg mcmuffin!

Thank you, Glen and your wonderful waitstaff, for the best most velvety smooth, creamy and luscious sausage gravy over toasted biscuits and my cooked to perfection eggs over easy! Also, the iced tea is fresh and delicious! I had a good day yesterday :)

I’ve only had the breakfast at this place, and it’s delicious! Their eggs and potatoes are cooked perfectly, and the biscuits are the perfect consistency and flavor. The service is also excellent — very friendly and helpful waitstaff. The prices are very reasonable, and you get a lot of food for what you pay. The convenient location also helps — no need to battle traffic in The Woodlands when this is right in our backyard!

I really want to give this place more stars but I just can’t. The chicken fried steak was really good as was the service, the negatives are the sides. Everything we had was from the freezer. The onion rings, fries, okra and the mac and cheese bites were exactly the ones they sell at restaurant supply places. If you are going to advertise good home cooking, then do that. Don’t buy frozen crap and expect people to be happy. We aren’t. Somethings I can understand but it doesn’t take long to make fresh fries and onion rings. Step yo’ game up!

Have visited twice now. First for a delicious home style cooked meal at lunch and the 2nd time we discovered their huge breakfast burritos… love the hash brown type potatoes vs cubed. Salsa and all around flavor and value was spot on. Nice job!

Nothing special. Stick to their specialties: It’s your average café food. If you like pies, they have pretty good homemade pies. The fried mac and cheese triangles are not that good :/ And I love Mac and cheese lol Everything else is average here… So I’m not going to even rate lol

Been here a few times and tried several different menu items. Burgers are delish along with my wife’s favorite southwest chicken enchiladas. Friendly staff and a lot of food for your money. Still wanting to make dessert night on Friday.

Always like to find a local breakfast place when traveling. Love Mexican breakfasts too. We tried this place and loved it. Huevos Chorizo and Huevos Papa both were great. Place was clean with nice Texas décor. Service was also fast and friendly.

Honestly one of the best breakfasts I’ve ever had. Good, fresh home cooking! What the atmosphere lacks, the food makes up for. Will definitely be back.

The food here is perfectly cooked and delicious. The chicken fried steak and chicken is the best I have ever had. Highly recommend to fight through the Robinson Rd traffic to get to this place

Went here yesterday out of convenience, a half mile from where I work. I was a first timer, and it was about 2:00PM, so there were no lines. The menu featured burgers and Southern, Texas, Southwest, and TexMex, right in my wheelhouse. Making a mental note to come back and try everything on the menu, I chose the Southwest Chipotle burger, a 1⁄3 lb feast dripping with an exquisite chipotle sauce. None went to waste, as I scooped up with a spoon any sauce that dripped onto my plate. Accompanied with perfectly done French fries and a large Mason jar of very good iced tea. The lunch earns 5 stars and many return trips. Looks like a fabulous place for breakfast(served all day).

Good food and good service! Our family loves little café’s but they are hard to come by in this area. So glad we stopped in. It will be our go to breakfast place from now on!

I’ve eaten here only 3 times but each time left me absolutely stuffed and already«hungry» to return! Their food is classic country home style cooking with a splash of Mexican flavor here and there. The service can be less than hasty but the fact that they don’t hover is awesome. They’re super friendly and easy to like. Why eat anywhere else when this place is so close to home? I love it!

Food wasn’t bad, but seemed to be missing some flavor. I think I will try it out again; probably not in the near future though. They have great sweet tea & nice staff.

Not very clean, just okay. Food is not good, and wait is long. I usually write long reviews but this one I don’t even know what to say.

Popped in while waiting for my daughter to finish a basketball camp nearby. The service was friendly and the food was good. There were a number of local families or groups eating as well which made for a nice atmosphere. I had the cheeseburger and onion rings — everything was good. I recommend it.
