glad that I found this place. Best mariscos in town. everything was good food, drinks, service and real chips and salsa. not those chips other places serve that are paper thin. Im definitely returning.

Dine here twice was disappointed each time. Both time was on a Monday to take advantage of the .65 cent oyster special. They were fresh but really small. My husband started with the oyster cocktail but for 10.00 I thought it a little pricey for a glass that was 90percent layered with salsa with about 5or6 oysters in the middle and a bit bland. My daughter had fried calamari which was rubbery, but she loved the shimp pasta alfredo which i tried and it was nice and I tied the beef taco which was pretty good. But what I came here for the fish, seafood is what they do and I wanted a nice grilled, fry or streamed whole fish. First visit I ordered the whole fried catfish in a garlic butter sauce. The fish arrived beautifully plated smothered wirh garlic and onions. Loved the oinion loved the garlic but the fish was Dry as a was fried to death. On the second visit I learned my lesson and decided to order my fish grilled. Again beautifully plated but but grilled so long it was hard to cut and it was so dry. Come on all I wanted was a moist piece of fish, no need to kill twice. I ordered another one and it was the same, grilled hard on the bottom, top was so dry no amount of hot sauce was going to moisten that fish. Sorry not going to try this place again anytime soon.

Ok, if you’re in a pinch for some fried rice. Me and the BF were craving fried rice and wanted to place a To Go order over the phone but there was no answer. Figured we’d stop by and place the order in person to get a feel for the place. Pretty sure it’s a «seat yourself» establishment, since no one acknowledged us to take a seat. We were brought chips and salsa… Which were mediocre at best. The red salsa had more flavor than the green and the chips had a lingering oil taste. We placed our order for special fried rice and ordered house margaritas while we waited. These margaritas are TOOSWEET! And oddly enough they tasted salty at the same time. They did not taste like tequila at all, so meh. Definitely would not order those again. It took about 20 minutes for our order to come out, which seemed a little long, but I guess it could’ve been worse. As for the entrée, we had the special fried rice, which consists of chicken, shrimp and ham. The rice to protein ratio was pretty decent, but I think the meal may have been on the salty side. I honestly can’t tell if it was overly salty or not due to margaritas after-taste. Willing to give them a second shot if the sodium levels subside!

So glad we have an Ostineria Michoacan Seafood and Oyster Bar just south of The Woodlands. No more driving south of Greenspoint for my Mexican Seafood delights. This restaurant is on the southbound feeder after Nursery Rd and the big«Brake Check» sign in the next strip center. This will be the closest to being in a tropical resort way down in Mexico when you read about all the wonderful seafood delights. The menu is in English and Spanish and so are the waitstaff’s language. They have cold to hot appetizers, salads, various shrimp entrees, breaded and fried entrees, quail, a variety of authentic Mexican entrees, soups, all kinds of fish and seafood, house specialties including my fav Huachinango de Marciscos. They also have lobster. Kids plates under 12 for $ 3.50 to $ 5.95. Lunch specials are available for $ 5.95 to $ 11.95 and also come with their special fried rice and yummy French fries. Beer and wine are available including Micheladas. We received a red and green sauce which were both fresh and authentic with chips while waiting for our food. I ordered the Parrillada de Marciscos which came with a whole fried catfish and the most tender, like butter, seafoods which were grilled octopus, squid, shrimp, scallops, and clams. This was served with their fried rice, French fries and toasted bread. This was an incredible meal except that the chef was a little heavy on the salt. My dining partner had the shrimp brochette, beef fajitas, a piece of fish, guacamole, rice beans and choice of tortillas. The refried beans were a bit oily but everything else was very good. My dining partner ordered a house margarita which I thought was too sweet. I personally would upgrade if possible. At 9 pm a disk jockey started playing in the back of the restaurant. They also have 2TV’s up front to watch a game. This place has only been open for a month and a half. It did take a while for our food to come out but not an excessive amount of time. I’ll be back for sure!!! Unilocal Review #315
