This is the worst! I stopped in for a quick bite one evening. It was approximately twenty minutes to closing. I have never been treated so ugly and given obvious signs that I was delaying the staffs leaving in my life… and I’ve had a very long life. I only wish this treatment would have started BEFORE I paid for my meal so I could have gone some place else! My food was not to Katz’s normal standards that I have always enjoyed. My sandwich was dry and burnt, like eating crisp styrofoam. So disappointing. When I went to refill my drink the staff had shut down the drink fountain and threw out the tea. Wow, really? They could have 1) waited till ALL customers were gone or 2) at least give us a heads up they were going to close everything down so we could have gotten refills first. We ‘were not’ the only customers still trying to enjoy our meal and went for lost refills. The manager needs to brush up on his management skills for allowing and supporting this to happen not to mention he was lacking in his hospitality skills that evening. He and staff began stacking chairs on tables while people were still trying to enjoy their dinner. I am very disappointed to now Katz’s standards have dropped so low. I have always enjoyed their dinning experience, but with all the new restaurants and delis I’m sure there is something new out there that will give me a warm welcome feeling and appreciated my patronage. Besides isn’t it the customers that keep these places up and running? Katz, I have one more question. Does closing time mean you may come in and be waited on up till that cutoff or does it mean you need to be out of the premises by that time??? I always thought it meant a place takes their last guest up till that time and the last guest can expect the same friendly service, high quality food and welcoming hospitality as the first guest did and the staff know their leave time varies by the flow of people. I know time changes the way businesses operate but I must have not gotten that memo!!!

This deli is one of the greats spots in Houston. This one is in the Woodlands area but they have another one in Downtown. Good service. Food is just awesome. The pastrami reuben sandwich is amazing. Handmade chips are prefect and for dessert the cheesecake shake is a crazy experience. Worth the trip there.

I always go back and check my reviews, positive or negative, to see if management has responded. Most do — particularly when the comments aren’t good. I was interested to see that, over the course of the last 6 or 8 months, the management of this establishment has only responded to positive comments. That certainly helps explain our terrible experience at Katz’s Deli.

Terrible service. This is a QSR. A customer order(3 people) took 10 minutes between the customer, the employee, and the manager whom we asked to open the second register to take orders from other customers in line. We walked out. TERRIBLEEXPERIENCE. TERRIBLEMANAGEMENT.

Great lunch, fried pickle spears delicious. Make sure you bring plenty of money as it is pretty expensive menu though.

Good eats for the old Kosher Deli experiance. I usually have lox on a bagel and the lox is always good. If you like a very good and hearty corned beef sandwich this is the place to get it!

Just didn’t like it, too much food is served and the taste was flat. The enviroment is pretty nice and everyone was friendly. Will not be the first thing that comes to my mind when I feel like eating a hotdog.

We normally go to the Katz on Westheimer, but we decided to come here when we were in the area. Just like the other location, service is quick and friendly. Café style doesn’t keep the staff from checking on you and offering to fix or help with anything. My only complaint is actually similar to the other location. I love smoked salmon so I almost always get the smoked salmon sandwich. The put too much red onion and cream cheese in it. It drowns out the star… The salmon. I also get the black and white cookie. It’s a good cookie, but I think the black and white cookie from Three Brothers bakery is better.

My mom and I visited here for lunch today after a long day of shopping! The owner was working the kitchen and roaming the restaurant so I knew the food would be top notch this time. which it was! I got the Express Phili. Cheesesteak. SOHOTANDSOGOOD. It is the smallest sandwich you can get, but still big enough where you can’t finish it! My mom got the French Dip and said it was amazing! The service was also amazing. The young kid(forgot to catch his name) but he was running the food, did a wonderful job! Great people skills. Love this place. And the unlimited pickles you get just tops it off! Yum!

Counter service New York deli style. Unlimited, self serve fountain drinks and pickles. Great Rueben sandwich and grilled pastrami hero. My wife likes the thick homemade potato chips and patty melt.

I can not say enough about the matzo ball soup. It is tremendous! It is my standard order when I go there w my family! It goes fantastic w the homemade, perfectly seasoned, spicy potato chips! Also try the stuffed cabbage rolls-just like mom used to make! They are amazing! The best comfort food around!

This is basically a self-service operation. I loved the Katz’s Deli in Austin so I was pleased to see a location in Houston. It is nothing like it-this is a Katz’s Express… The Philly cheesesteak omelette with latkes was good but smaller than expected. When I asked to substitute the toast with extra veggies or fruit, the cashier(they don’t have wait staff) told me there would be an up-charge. I ordered their red velvet cheesecake which was also small. The red velvet cake layers tasted stale. Wish I had gone to Hubbell & Hudson Kitchen Bistro…

The first time I came here with my parents and had a great experience, other than the other customer who sad and literally watched me eat the entire time, but that’s not the restaurants fault so I can’t be upset with them about that. However, I told my fiancé about how great the food was so he ordered take out for dinner, well they left out our sides, and my milk shake, and to top it all off, I threw up after eating half sandwich.(this was about 2 weeks ago). We decided to try it again last night and absolutely were not impressed, I came with my parents, sister, brother and fiancé, not only was literally every wrong, when we told someone about it they got a huge attitude. We paid over $ 100 for the food, that was hardly warm, terrible service, and again creepy people who watch us eat. Will not be coming back here.

Portion sizes are ridiculous for the price they charge! We are a family of four and it cost us $ 55. That got us 4 sandwiches and 3 drinks(1 water). It’s crazy expensive I gotta tell ya! The food was good, not great and certainly not worth this price.

weak. Portion size was pathetic. My «Grilled Pastrami Hero» order was destroyed by having been put in the steamer. Tasted just like a microwave sandwich. Carrot cake wad good. Iced Tea was instant! Disappointed because it used to be a pretty good place for deli style nostalgia food.

Kind of dead in here for a Saturday night, but OK, not every place can be hoppin’. I am a fan of Katz’s in general. We don’t have much of this type of food in the H-town, especially in the ‘burbs. Anyway, this place handles much of the same goodies as the regular location. Actually, I’m not sure what the difference is. You can get your soup, you can get your sandwich, you can get the meatloaf. All fantastic. I am a long time of their matzo ball soup and this place makes it just as tasty as I remember. I like the food here, the service is generally good and friendly. It is a dependable stop for some comfort food, for sure.

Meh. Just a typical deli, nothing too special. I ordered the French dip and it was bland, felt like it was missing something. For $ 9 for a small sandwich I wish it was a little better. The broccoli and cheddar soup was good though, but it usually is anywhere you go. If you want an average deli, this isn’t a bad choice. Nothing great about it though

Do your mouth a flavor favor and get your keister to Katz’s! While it may not be as good as the NYC location, you will find a ton of flavorful sandwiches served up in three sizes — Express size(5oz of meat $ 8.29), Klassic(7.5oz of meat $ 12.29), and New York size(10oz of meat $ 16.29). My wife went with their Scottish Smoked Salmon Sandwich(Fresh — never frozen-Scottish Smoked Salmon with lettuce, tomatoes, capers, purple onion and cream cheese on toasted rye). Other than too much cream cheese for her liking, she absolutely loved the sandwich. The salmon was very nicely smoked and plentiful. All the other ingredients blended together for a delicious, melt in your mouth taste explosion. I didn’t know what to choose so I ended up with the Katz Meow(Pastrami, corned beef, turkey breast, roast beef, lettuce, tomato, and Russian dressing on a French roll). WOW! This was the best sandwich I’ve had in a very long time. The quality and variety of meats was outstanding. The fresh vegetables gave a bit of crispness to the sandwich. And the French roll had a chewy outer crust texture that was softened on the inside by the Russian dressing. Yum! Katz’s also had free pickles for dine-in customers(take out, too but they limited you to 2 or 3). These pickles alone are worth the trip — briny, crunchy, delicious! We also shared a piece of their carrot cake. This is a huge slice with a tiny dollop of whipped cream. I don’t know if they make this themselves or have a supplier, but the cake was also outstanding! We loved it. Other than sandwiches they offer some entrees(which I have never tried). The one thing I saw another person order was this giant chili dog. If it tastes half as good as it looks, I’ll be tempted to buy it the next time I’m at Katz’s. I was thinking of giving 5 stars but the one thing that stopped me was their order placing — slow… I don’t know if the kid at the register was new, but he was slower than a snail wading through syrup! Anyway, If you love a good sandwich and are willing to pay a bit for quality, Katz’s is your place!

Oh how I wish *this* Katz’s, like the other, never kloses! The food is fanphunkingtastic any time of day, but would best appreciated, for me at least, late-night. The crew is wonderfully friendly, though, and not a single eyebrow was raised when I ordered carrot cake and fried pickles for breakfast, and supplemented with a few bites of the ManFriend’s detestably-named but delectable salami & cream cheese Yankee Stadium sammich.(Note to self: have Red Sox cap handy for next foray into Stolen Bites Land) The homemade potato chips were awesome — fried perfectly, and not all burned-tasting like such things tend to be at other places, with a touch of some sort of seasoning salt on them.. yummy! My goal is to sample 100% of the menu, starting with, and focusing on, dessert :)
