Mom and I came here to grab a quick bite to eat around 6 p.m. There was no wait and the service was fast. Language barrier is a bit of a struggle but she was a great waitress. Queso is bland, you definitely have to add the salsa(which is great) to it to get any type of flavor. Probably wouldn’t get it again. I got the #24, I usually don’t get enchiladas when I get Mexican food but I was feeling spontaneous. THEYWEREAMAZING. I would get them 10 out of 10 times. Took leftovers to my dad and he agreed. Mom got a cheese enchilada plate that also came with a chalupa and cheese puff. She thought it was good, was a little disappointed with the ‘chalupa’ which looked to be just a cheese puff with more ingredients on top. Food came out piping caliente!

Today was my first visit to margarita’s in a year. They have changed much about the menu and the overall quality of service and of the food. Most definitely not for the better. My fajitas were bland and the queso dip tasted like government welfare cheese. My father enchiladas were the same. Generally passable and uninspiring. The salsa tasted like Pace brand salsa you can buy at just about any store and the chips were stale(so were the tortillas). As a previous regular of this restaurant I am disappointed in the overall decline in the quality of food and service. I will probably never revisit this restaurant unless I hear about vast improvements to at least the previous levels of quality.

Read the prior Unilocal reviews and tried this place last night. I was anticipating a good Mexican restaurant with okay service. Received neither! The salsa provided with the chips was probably the worst tasting I’ve ever experienced in 50 years! Pieces of tomato skin and onion peel were left in the salsa. It was the blandest taste one could ever imagine. Nothing helped. Ordered #38(soft beef tacos w/rice/beans) and wife ordered Green Enchiladas. On both plates the refried must have been put on the plate with a very small teaspoon as it barely made 3 bites. The rice was ok. The beef tacos had very nice chunks of beef, but over half of it was burnt black. The corn tortillas were a mix of corn and flour and were gummy with very little corn taste. The Green Enchiladas had a red chili sauce inside with the Verde sauce on the outside. Never seen this combo before. Wife indicated that it was«ok» but when she left half of it on the plate, it was apparent that she didn’t like it.(confirmed later that evening) The waiter was brand new. I asked what was on tap and he said«beer»! I went to the bar, found out what was on tap and then returned to table. He came back and asked again what I wanted and I said«a Nergo Modello». He still didn’t understand what that was. Had to explain to him twice. Food was served in an appropriate amount of time and arrived on hot plates. After we ate, we waited for about 20 minutes for the check but when the waiter nor the check arrived, we went up to the cashier and told him what we had, where we sat. He found the waiter and then attempted to charge us for the drinks and 4 dinners. It took another 15 minutes to get things straightened out. The cashier provided a small discount for our wait or else this place would be rated«1 star» versus 2. An interesting sign on the register counter indicated they now charge for all go boxes and the prices depend on the size(Cost from .25 to $ 1 for a go box) So — bland salsa, small portions, so-so service but a discount, rates this place 2-stars. Back on the hunt for a good Mexican restaurant in the Montgomery/Conroe area! This one definitely is NOT on our list!

After so many mediocre meals at other Mexican Restaurants, we ate at Margaritas in Conroe. What a difference in atmosphere, cleanliness and great tasting food. Our meals were served hot, presentation very appealing, and first bite to last was delicious. So goodbye other Mexican restaurants in town, and Hello many more times to come Margaritas.

Excellent food and service. Exactly what Tex Mex is supposed to be. Great enchiladas. Queso was great. Our waiter was Jose and he was spot on. Keep up the good work. Be back often.

Food and service both excellent. Clean and super friendly staff. The enchiladas were fantastic. Guacamole fresh and simple. Queso was simple and home made. Not canned cheese like a lot of places seem to use. Ask for Jose M. Best server we have had in ages — and we dine out A LOT. We will be back for sure.

We always stop here when traveling through Conroe. The service is better than most, the food is excellent, and the place is very clean. If you are not sure what to order try the Queso Flameado. I eat this meal all over the state as it is my favorite Mexican dish. Margarita’s has the best I have ever eaten!!! The dish literally comes out on fire. If you have never eaten this dish don’t blow the flames out, let them go out by themselves or you will taste the alcohol used to produce the flames. The crunchy tacos are really good here too but do not beat the Flameado.

We are relatively new to the area and we’re happy to find a Mexican restaurant that reminded us of our favorite place back in Beaumont. The food is very good, the prices are reasonable, and the waiters are both attentive and nice. It’s my new favorite Mexican restaurant in our new area.

We just moved to town and are looking for a new regular mexican resturant but i am not sure this will be it. Their margaritas were okay and the food was great but the service was not what it needed to be. The margarita I got was hot as if it was a new batch and had not had time to cool but when the waiter said he would fix it all they did was add ice. So it got watered down quickly. I only got half my meal and the other half was not brought out until my husband was almost done with his whole meal. My husband also went without a drink most of the meal. I didn’t expect anything when we told the waiter it was my birthday but then they sang happy birthday and gave someone a free dessert. I’m glad they didn’t sing because my tired baby just feel asleep but why would you give some customers free desserts for their birthdays and not others? To me the type of service you receive determines how well you enjoy your food/time at a restaurant so I’m not sure we will be back. But if you are okay with not so great service then I would try it.

My husband and I moved here from GA after he got out of the army, hoping to find a place like the one we had back there, and we did! Margaritas has a very homey comfortable atmosphere, as well as excellent food and drinks! It’s a great place for a night out with your friends, it even just an easy reasonably priced place to go with your family. I’ve never had any problems with the quality of their food, and it always comes out super quick! Also the corn tortillas are absolutely amazing! I wish I could buy theirs instead of any from the store!

I am taken back to my early 20’s, when money was tight and food was scarce at my apartment. The thought of stale chips was good, because the salt intake and carbs were needed for a college student. But hey, stale chips were the norm in those days. Sitting at the table at Margaritas, I am reminded of my days in college… Stale chips and equally cheap salsa. The kind where, and for those old enough to remember this commercial, the Pace Picante Sauce cowboys would tell the«other» brand’s cowboy«where’s the rope» when posed with even trying the inferior salsa from New York City. Well sitting, waiting for 1 tea and water to arrive, I begin to look around at the actual restaurant. Interesting décor. I feel like I’ve been transported to the 70’s with the stucco walls and dark lit dining area. Alas! Flaming queso flambado(QF) comes out. The comment to us by our nice waitress, «it’s hot» as the flames are about to singe her hair. As I believe I am a QF connoisseur, I do not believe QF should look like an alien on the tortilla. The pungent odor of 151 over-powered the smell and taste of everything else. Cheese enchiladas: My base line for rating a tex-mex restaurant. I mean, how hard is it to mess up cheese enchiladas, but oh Margaritas, did you just that. Hubby had NO cheese in his enchiladas. Rice and beans were a huge failure. Why, oh why did they taste identical!!! I couldn’t tell the difference, besides the texture. Service: Fast and nice, until I told the waitress about the food, then it turned into an attitude as if she made the rice herself. Then to tell the manager in front of us «Ella dice los chips ‘stan viejo y los platos ‘tan malo»… yes hunny, I understand the Spanish and a little less attitude would be appreciated. Bad food happens. Well folks, why this place is so packed during the week is is beyond me. I guess it’s the cheap prices. and the crazy menu, which both of us received headaches from reading them. Bad Graphics Designer, bad!

Low prices, great services, and they keep the chips and salsa flowing. There is plenty of seating inside; but they have a small parking lot so don’t worry If the lot is full as they will have plenty of seating.

This was our first time trying this place, and it’s always busy so we thought we would give it a shot. The food was good, it just took awhile before they even took our drink order. The waiter wasn’t as attentive as I would’ve liked. I’ll probably come back when I’m not pregnant to try a margarita.

It was«OK» at best this review is kind of biased because I judge this one by the service and food/drink quality I’ve grown accustomed to from my years as a college student in huntsville

The meat of my four stars comes from the fact that their margaritas are $ 3 and they’re damn good for such a low price. Typically, when ritas are so cheap, they taste just that — cheap. Not these, they’re decent. Hopefully you’re not D.D. The food is quite good, too. Stuffed avocados. Winner! The salas is fresh and spicy. Service is great, too. Excellent for large groups. Oh, and excellent for drinking and not spending a ton.
