It was a Cuban restaurant, but it’s new owners and new food; guess they just kept the same name(and interior decorations). Now it’s Tex-Mex. The food is prepared with care and it’s pretty solidly A-OK. It didn’t seem particularly spicy or «dirty»; just simple, straightforward execution. Nice people; hope they can make it a while in this seemingly doomed location.

Gave this restaurant a second try and much better experience this time around. Had the chorizo con huevo no bad at all. The owner brought us a bowl of albondigas(meatballs) soup so we could try it. It was very good since I never had this kind of soup. Congratulations for improving the flavor in your meals.

Visited on a Sunday. No one came up to our family to let us know whether we sit down ourselves or they sit us down. After a couple of min, I asked, they told us to find a seat. We waited 5 min and no one came to wait on us. The buffet didn’t look to good, though I saw some plates on the menu I would have like to tried. I’m sure food would have been good but left after 5 min of no service

I tried the buffett and it was not up to par with other places I’ve tried like La Marginal… the rice was hard… the pernil tasted old and the maduros could’ve been sweeter… somehow 1 buffett and 2 drinks came out to $ 18 which is ridiculous considering how small the buffett is. next time I’ll make the drive somewhere else

That buffet hooks me everytime! One day I’m going to man up and order off the menu, and try the cuban sandwich. It looks delicious.

Think twice before you eat here. After see the quality and the place is no deserve the money you pay. Me and my wife pay close to $ 54.00 for something that’s worth at least $ 27.00. Get your money and go to a place with a big sirloin steak.

On July 02, 2015 at approx. 3:30 pm I pass and turn around to eat at this place with my wife since it was on my way to Randolph AFB. My wife ordered the Cuban Sandwich and I had Mofongo with carne frita. Cust. Service was ok, the portion size ok. My wife’s Cuban sandwich was pretty big she gave me a piece to try and it had a long hair… the waitress was sitting behind us and as I was pulling it from my mouth I showed her. It was so gross she told me she was going to talk to the owner… well he never came out my mofongo plate had old salad and a tomato I swear It was not fresh slitly brown and the tomato was saggy. At the time to pay my wife asked for military discount and she said sure but I had to pay for the sandwich because the owner said to her that they all wear hear nets in the kitchen… He or she never came out to talk to us I pay the full amount it was close to $ 32.00 plus the tip on the table. I paid because If they think I was looking for a free meal the nasty sandwich is $ 7.00, please be serious! But you rather hide than talk to me I would be fine with an apology from the owner and it was ok with me… so this is my review and my experience at your place hair nets to every person that walks in the kitchen… yes I saw people going in the kitchen with no hair nets. now what is your excuse. You lost a great customer and I will tell all my Boricua family, friends and veterans about my experience. Your restaurant gross me out. All for just $ 7.00 and not talking to the customer.

We went for lunch and had their buffet. The buffet looked small when we came in but there are many choices to choose from. Everything was warm at the right temp. Nothing to spicy either which is good because we had 2 little ones eating with us. We will definitely be going back. My only complaint was our waitress didn’t really spend a lot of time making sure we were okay. It took a while for us to get a drink change and I never had a water refill. Other then that everything was great.

Having lunch here at the moment, and first let me say that I am Puerto Rican from NYC. I say that because I like to think we have a certain standard for Caribbean food, and this place is not disappointing. The staff was very welcoming! I am came in after lunch so the place is fairly empty but they still have the buffet. The buffet is your standard; arroz con gandules, pernil, maduros, habichuelas etc. My only complaint is that the food could be a bit warmer. Looking at the menu, prices for their main courses average $ 10. So reasonable. I have been to the other two Puerto Rican restaurants that I know of in San Antonio and this place is on par with them. Lastly this is NOT a Mexican restaurant! If you are looking for tacos you will be disappointed.

My friends had been telling me and my boyfriend about this new Caribbean restaurant they had heard about and after reading the reviews I thought«what the heck» even though I have never had Caribbean before. ITWASHORRIBLE! First of all, there were children playing in the parking lot with their bicycles and stuff laying all over… we almost ran over one of them when we pulled in. I thought I was going to have a heart attack. Then the children ran into the restaurant. We almost left before we even tried their food. I wish we had. The service was horrible even though the man was nice enough, he just kept explaining that they had no Mexican food in spite of their signs and menu. Almost every dish I wanted to try was something they said they weren’t going to carry any more. I finally ordered something vaguely resembling enchiladas and asked what«bean soup» was(that’s what the menu stated came as a side dish). He claimed it was refried beans. Fine with me. Well, I guess it really was bean soup. It was a small bowl of pinto beans in the water they were cooked in. That’s it. No flavoring, no meat, nothing. My food was bland and barely lukewarm. All of our dishes came out at different times… after the 2nd dish(15 minutes after mine) we started timing it and it took over 30 minutes to get all four main dishes. The side dishes came in between. One of them was my boyfriend’s…some slop of meat(it looked like the shredded burnt up brisket from the bottom of the foil). The plate was hot but the meat was as cold as if it came out of the refrigerator. Our friends’ food was hotter but they said it was nothing like they’d had before – no flavor and over or under cooked. We spent over and hour and a half in there with the children running and screaming around, no service in sight, and no more appetite. We left virtually full plates on the table. I sure hope they didn’t stick them back in the refrigerator and serve them to someone else.

The food is great. My wife is from Miami and she really enjoyed the food; especially the Maduros. If you like Caribbean food try this place!!!

Walked in to a colorful eclectic décor. Nice vibe. Very clean. Tea is good and cold. We were served Gorditas as a free appetizer. Nice touch. This is not your run of the mill Mexican Restaurant. So don’t ask for chips and salsa. We did and got tostada shells in a bowl. Regardless, this place had amazing flavors. My daughter had the Fajitas they were well cooked and spiced just right. I had the Green chili pork taco and it was out of this world! I also had the Red Chili taco and it was ok. The rice was great and the Beans were out of this world. I could have eaten an entire bowl by myself. Lots of Meat and garlic yum! So if you are in the Converse area you should definitely give them a try. Well worth it. We will be back!!!

First time here, and I came during my lunch hour. The food was real good. I enjoyed eating the Pernil I ordered. My only complaint would be the amount of time it takes to be served when you’re trying to have a quick lunch. I’m just very excited to have Caribbean food this close to Randolph AFB.
