I had a taste for Chinese food one Sunday afternoon and I didnt eat anything all day. So I started reading Unilocal reviews for the best Chinese restaurants in the Newark/Belleville/Bloomfield area. Since I am new to the area i wanted to eat the best Chinese’s food with the help of reviews. I already ate at 1# Chinese Restaurant on Bloomfield Ave with a few friends from the area who advised that they had the best Chinese food and had no problems. However when I looked up reviews about 1# Chinese Restaurant I was very upset with my finds. So i decided to go to Chopsticks in which I ordered the General Tso’s Chicken which is the same dish I order constantly at every Chinese fast food restaurant. I came home and ate my dish in which the chicken and rice was very dry but i continue to eat the small size dish. Later that evening it felt like a hard knot developing in my stomach, a very uncomfortable feeling in which the pain kept me up most of the night. Then my symptoms became increasingly worse over the next few days and I developed night sweats and vomiting. Then I realized that I was exposed to food poisoning which left me really sick for a few days. Then I remembered when I was at Chopsticks and at the counter watching the owners prepare my food, I noticed the woman cook took a slightly cooked chicken and choped it up on a cutting board, then on that same cutting board she took some plantations and started chopping into small rings for a pregnant woman and her family that were dining in. Then I realize on that day I was exposed to somenila poisoning due to uncleaned practices and bad handling of their meats. I’m use to the grading system in New York if its not an A I will not enter but in New Jersey its like the wild wild west you just dont know what you are getting your self into, so please if you eat here don’t.

I ate here two nights in a row while I was in town on business. OK…the food here isn’t the best Chinese I’ve had, but I enjoyed what I ordered. The bone in ribs were very good as well as the Kung Pao chicken. Fried rice was a little light on flavor, but I’d rather have that than it be swimming in oil. Good egg rolls here. Night 2 was House Special Mei Fun which again was a little light on flavor but had a really nice clean and healthy feel to it. The pork dumplings were a little thick skinned for me but tasted good. They threw in a complimentary chicken teriyaki order which I was pleasantly surprised to see when I got back to my hotel. Staff is very pleasant and i was greeted with a big smile on both occasions by the woman at the front desk when I walked in the door… so nice. I’ll be back for sure the next time I’m in town.

Decent Chinese food! I would’ve probably chosen 3.5 stars but I felt this restaurant was closer 4. My husband and I get dinner from here about once a week, and the food is always hot and fresh. He usually does the combination plates while I like to bounce around the menu and try new things. We don’t mind picking it up so I can’t comment about their delivery service, but we like this restaurant and are going to miss it when we move.

For a place that doesn’t seem real busy all the time, this is really a great restaurant! I ordered the cashew chicken meal. It was perfect! Fresh to perfection! The establishment had excellent service. The atmosphere is peaceful. So if you are looking for a place to go relax and have a great meal, then look no further. My only negative“constructive” feedback I have about this spot, is it is being overlooked severely. Some know of its existence cause the delivery guy I see every time I go is on the move. The restaurant is off in the cut and the sign for the place is old and faded due to weathering. It almost looks abandoned. And the only thing on the exterior that shows life is the neon open sign. Other than that. This hidden gem is worth your time.

No. Hell no. Food was bland and dry. All over the world, Chinese food lovers such as my fat self, are weeping. And of course, it’s the only joint in town(that I know about… I’m still new in town). Complete crapola.

Well managed Chinese restaurant! quick service n good food. Conveniently located near military base. Front staffs are nice n polite .good place for a fast take out after work. We have been ordering from them for almost 2 years since we moved to McGuire afb I have tried all of the Chinese restaurants in the area. Chopstick house is the best in town very consistent both food and service. Love their crab Rangoon beef with broccoli Mongolian chicken. I recommend this place

My first time dining here. Ordered the garlic shrimp lunch special w/pork fried rice & wonton soup. My meal was very good. The wait time was short & the waiter/cashier was friendly. The price was very reasonable.

Good Chinese food for decent prices. They deliver on base which is a huge plus for us! We just moved here and it doesn’t look like there aren’t a lot of options for Chinese food cravings. This place did it for me!

The food was okay. The restaurant was pretty run down. The cleanliness of the place was questionable. The front staff were very rude. I wouldn’t return, ever!

Very good and very reasonably priced. Crab Rangoon is awesome! Got beef and broccoli once that wasn’t good(beef was fatty and chewy) but everything else has been really tasty. Large portions and quick service for both carry out and delivery. Can’t beat it for a quick meal on a busy night. *They’re also MSG free*

I called my order in and was told it would be ready in 15 minutes. I got there 17 minutes later to pick it up and had to wait another 10 minutes to get my food. The restaurant was empty. Restaurant was dirty. The cashier, with bleached highlighted hair, was too busy texting to say, «Hello, can I help you?». She did not say, «Thank you, have a good night.». She did not say, «You’re welcome,» when i thanked her. All she said was, «This is yours,» and stuvk her nose back in her phone and txted. She was very rude. The food lacked flavor and freshness, and they forgot my egg roll. I would not go back or recommend it.

Chopstick House is your typical run-of-the-mill American food restaurant run by Cantonese people who cook flavored down versions of Mainland Chinese cuisine. The food here is unsurprisingly mediocre, but not entirely unpalatable — their delivery is pretty prompt to the Fort Dix/McGuire AFB area(which is about 90% of their business) and how affordable the food is here(especially for lunch) I would definitely recommend that over the other eating options here. If you do decide to eat in, however, the interior of Chopstick House is surprisingly modern and well-thought out in décor — whoever thought of the store front gave considerable thought to every detail of the store, even down to the dishes and bowls. Their fried rice is decent for the area(I can only say this because I’ve had much much worse) and the mapo tofu wasn’t half bad. Though when I asked for them to make my dish extra spicy, I didn’t quit mean for them to simply throw in extra unground black pepper grains into my food, and add SUGAR as a counterweight. There’s so much more they could be doing wrong, but they’ve been able to exercise appropriate levels of damage control. I recommend this place only for a quick fix.

Quick service and good food… what more can you ask? I always get the General Tso’s Chicken and it is consistently excellent.

Good Americanized Chinese food for solid prices. I always get the lunch special General Tso’s chicken with fried rice and it always hits the spot. Lately they have tightened up policies on credit cards and totals needed for deliveries, and that has left a bit of a bad taste in my mouth.
