Bakers Square

3÷28÷2015 @4 PM: We took my mother for an early dinner and we were treated to exceptional food (the highlights being the fish sliders, strawberry crêpe and — of course — the pie) as well as exceptional service. The restaurant manager had his AAA+ game on and was everywhere in the restaurant to make sure every customer received a world class meal. Awesome job!!!

I must be a masochist or something because I keep going back to chain restaurants, expecting something good.
I haven’t been to a Bakers Square since I was a kid. I went there yesterday with my wife for lunch. We stopped on a whim. We’ve driven past it, literally, hundreds of times. Time to give it a try.
Boring, boring, boring. The burger was overcooked and flavorless. My wife’s chicken pot pie was bland.
It must have been senior day because we were the only ones in there less than 50 years old. Not that there’s anything wrong with seniors; I’m almost a senior myself. It was just kind of humorous.
We decided to take a pie home since that’s what they’re known for – right? It was recommended that we try a seasonal strawberry pie. We went with the strawberry cheesecake. I guess it was good. But I noticed that it’s still sitting in the refrigerator and no one has bothered to grab a second slice.
The staff there seemed really nice and on the ball.
In summary: Lunch – forget it. Baked goods – I’ll probably just go to Lunds or Byerly’s next time.

Tried a slice of Custard Pie which is one of my favorites. The crust is way too thick! The custard filing lacks a vanilla or nutmeg flavor. This chain used to have more locations and have now closed all but a few.

The pies are great! The french silk is to die for.
The food is a good price for what you get. The honey mustard sauce is particularly good. The service is friendly. When we went, there was a face painting station and an Easter bunny walking around, pretty fun. Good family restaurant.
