It was my wife’s birthday. We dumped the kids off at Grandma and grandpa’s house and I told my wife to pick any restaurant she wanted. We ended up at Khan’s in Coon Rapids. When we were driving to Khan’s I had another one of my inexplicable anxiety attacks that was so overwhelming I almost exited the car at an intersection. We got to Khan’s a short time later and lined up for a great selection of meats, veggies, and noodles. We had never been to this place or a place like this in the past so it was a totally new experience. The wait staff was extremely helpful and after my first round of stir-fry was served, I suffered from another horrible panic issue which sent me outside into the cool air to try to eat some more xanax and regain my composure. I came back in and apologized to my wife for wrecking her birthday meal. I sat down and tried to eat some of my freshly-cooked stir fry. I couldn’t, The hostess came over and asked if we were OK and I told her that I was having serious anxiety problems and she seemed very understanding. My anxiety level was so high that I gave my wife the debit card and apologized again to her for my ridiculous anxiety. I went outside for 15 minutes and breathed the cool air and I finally started to feel quite a bit better. I entered the restaurant and explained to the hostess that even though it was against policy, I’d like a to-go box for the single serving of stir-fry that I had already made but did not have the appetite to finish after my anxiety issues. She was so sweet and nice and understanding and she totally hooked me up with a great to-go box. I was facing an unusual and embarrassing situation the first time visiting this restaurant — and I was treated very very well. I don’t write a lot of reviews but I was so impressed with the unique service I was offered at this establishment I felt compelled. I am so stoked to eat my extra-spicy stir fry for lunch tomorrow in the office. Thank you Khan’s! You saved my wife’s birthday date night meal.

I love Mongolian BBQ’s and frequent several. I have been meaning to try Khan’s, which is less than five minutes away from me for some time. I decided to take my son and to lunch there today. The experience was very disappointing as a whole. The cost is very steep. $ 10.95 for one trip. $ 14.95 for all you can eat. They also charge you separately for a drink($ 2.95 for a soft drink!). This means that you will spend $ 17.90 + tax for a meal and drink. If We hadn’t been so hungry, I’d have left and gone somewhere else right then. As a comparison, Buffet City Mongolian grill Charges $ 9.19 for lunch including drink, and including tax ! And it’s all you can eat. Not to mention that besides the Mongolian grill, they have a full Chinese buffet to choose from that is included as well. So we made our trip through the buffet. I was blown away to find out that one trip, meant one(medium size bowl). I usual separate my meat and vegetables. The vegetable selection was poor, and not very fresh. The broccoli was cut in large chunks and looked old and was yellowing. I will give them a positive comment for having both thin rice noodles and thick noodles, as I like thin rice noodles better. When we arrived at the grill to have our food cooked, I was appalled at how dirty the grill was.(See photos) To preface, every Mongolian grill I have ever been to(which are many) the grills are all kept very clean. The cooks are always constantly scraping the burnt old food off of the grill. Typically every two to three grilling sessions. This grill had not been cleaned in quite some time and was caked with burnt food. The restaurant was NOT busy either. There was two other tables with people besides us, and when we entered they had clearly been eating for awhile, as nobody was at the Buffett or grill between the time we arrived and the time we had our food cooked, so they were not to busy to clean the grill. The food was adequately cooked. The service was very poor. We had to find the waitress to get drink refills, and other than when she brought the drinks, she never returned to the table. I also had to find the waitress to get our bill. The staff also was not very friendly. They were not rude per say, but it was clear they didn’t want to be there. It also bears mentioning that even if you pay for the ONETRIP for $ 1.95 plus tax, they will not allow you to take your left overs home. I know, it is standard for all you can eat buffets to not allow take home boxes, however I expected that if you were only paying for one trip, then it was not longer an all you can eat Buffett. Apparently they don’t see it that way. The bottom line… I will not be back, and would not recommend this restaurant to friends. The are far to many other choices in the metro that are priced much more reasonably, have better food, and much better service.

Upon entrance we were greeted by a man who was polite and professional. We were seated at a decent seats. First look: Place is really old and beat up but our waitress was super nice and polite. We started with a complimentary appetizer and it was actually pretty tasty. Now the food buffet area: — They server frozen meat(not fresh like Bd’s Mongolian BBQ) — The meat area was super messy. different meats mixed up –Vegetables were cut into half to one inch pieces. Supper big. Also frozen vegetables(not fresh like Bd’s Mongolian BBQ) — most their sauces were either water down or their liquid were separated. — They also ask to add the sauce to the food which will cause a burning taste upon grilling(Unlike Bd’s Mongolian BBQ) The food price was pretty high. They do have a 3.99 for kids all you can eat which is fair. A bill for two adults an two toddlers came to $ 50 which is pretty expensive considering the food quality and atmosphere.

Good food, filling. One bowl 11 bucks or unlimited for about 15. Good for groups! Everything is grilled fresh. I’d def recommend it even if it’s a bit of a drive.

Went today for Valentine’s. No special menu for the holiday but the place was slightly decorated. At first it seemed we’d just have to stand there since no-one seemed to care we were standing there waiting to be seated. We hadn’t been there for many years and really nothing had changed, not even the carpet. That being said, I still really enjoy the food. Even with the one bowl option I can stack it high and have a hard time finishing it all. If you’ve never been there before don’t be afraid to ask for help on choosing the sauces or look up at the suggestions on the board above you. I’ll be back to eat there again, despite the old carpet.

My wife and myself have been here a couple of times after recently moving here, the first was during Christmas and the place was decked out with holiday lights and being in the middle of the week not to busy. Nice atmosphere. The food was/always has been great on our visits. Calling it a visit is more accurate than«going out to dinner«. I can always put down at least two bowls and my eyes are bigger than my stomach I sometimes try 3. Service has been great every time also. Please be kind and tip the cook guys a dollar a bowl-gong if you feel like it. Khan’s is our favorite little get away. Try the lamb and the bottom of the Dragon Sauce with lots of garlic!

I used to come to this restaurant frequently. About seven or eight years ago. I came here before I knew about the other Mongolian barbecue restaurants, namely mongos in Maple Grove. After going to Mongols or other Mongolian barbecue’s in the coming back to this one it makes you realize that this place is major dump!!! I’ve given it extra chances just because I live close but both times I feel like the health department should come in, it’s that gross.

Love this place! Food is always great. Drinks are good too. It has a casual atmosphere and friendly and fast staff. For a buffet, I think this place is awesome.

Khan’s used to be really fabulous. .. in 1990. It isn’t 1990 any more and I don’t know if I’ve changed more than Khan’s has, but there have been a number of changes that I didn’t feel were positive over the years. For instance, they have effectively eliminated appetizers. They have successively shrunk the bowls over the years too. On the plus side, they’ve added a few more protein choices. As far as the good side goes, almost anyone in the family can find something they want to eat at Khans, and you can still tip the cooks a buck and belt the big gong – the best entertainment in the Twin Cities for a buck. I’ve been to Mongolian BBQs in other cities, and I’d say Khan’s in firmly in the middle of the pack – they have enough spicy choices for sauce that you can hurt yourself if you try hard, and they are very tolerant of children, which is more of a concern as my family gets older and bigger. Not fine dining, but a lot better option than taking the family to Osaka.

Excellent dining experience! Food was fresh, no wait, our server, Jennifer had the perfect balance between attending to our needs and giving us privacy. Matt, who helped us with sauces did a excellent job of walking us through our options. If only we had two stomachs so we could continue to eat! Definitely worth the hour and a half trip to get there! Add this to ur bucket list, you won’t b disappointed.

I’ve driven past this enough, but I forgot to pack my lunch today. Stir Frey fits perfectly into my diet and as it happens I can say it was a perfect choice. Lean meat and lots of vegetables with a little white rice kept me within my diet limits. The best part was that my food tasted great with loads of flavor. I highly recommend this restaurant and can’t wait to go in the evening and still stay on my diet.

This Kahn’s has great service! I was quite surprised at how friendly and quick the service was. The buffet was filled with plenty of choices & a ton of sauces and if you are unsure of what kind of sauce to choose they even have someone stationed at the buffet to help you out. Once you’ve assembled your meal you bring your dish to the cooks & get to watch them cook it up. A gong placed by a tip jar brings cheers from the cooks… it definitely adds to the atmosphere of the restaurant. It’s worth checking out.

I love Khan’s. You can’t really get mad about having a sub-par meal hear because you’re in charge. Well, I guess you could get mad at yourself or they could overcook your meal but I’ve never had that happen. First you sit down, order a drink and they bring you out your appetizer. You scarf that down as fast as possible because you want to get to the fun part, creating your own meal. You then go up to the buffet style counter and grab a bowl. Now I believe there is an art to filling the bowl, it may take a couple trips to Khan’s to really get it down. Start with the meat and put more in your bowl than you think you’d need. Then the veggies and noodles at the end. Also, I always add more sauce than you’d think you’d need, and do that last. They usually have someone standing at the counter if you want any help with what sauces to choose. I usually mix them up, be creative. And don’t worry about looking like a hog because yes, everyone’s bowl is usually overflowing by the time your done with the buffet line. After that you try to balance your heaping masterpiece of food as you make your way over to the cooker dudes. I don’t think you’d consider them chef’s here, so they’re cooker dudes. The dudes cook your food in about 2 minutes and then place it on a plate that it actually fits on. You then sit down and enjoy. This place has a great atmosphere and the food is always good. Service is friendly and quick, and prices are affordable. I always leave with a smile. I do wish they’d let you bring a doggy-bag home though, I always finish my meal but my wife doesn’t. Seems like a goofy rule to me, do they actually eat what you don’t finish or something? Therefore 4 stars!

This place has a nice atmosphere, and the food is fresh. We were underwhelmed with the choices for sauces, however. This place can’t hold a candle to Hu Hot. Seriously. You need to eat at Hu Hot if you pass by Fargo on a trip. It’s that good. Oh, and Khan’s is also more expensive. One Bowl for lunch was $ 9.50(unlimited lunch for about the same at Hu Hot) and $ 13.50 for unlimited dinner.
