Perfect view shared a flat bread lobster sandwich and a salad. Both were quite good. Service pretty decent also. Added 2 beers and bill came to $ 40 with tip

Excellent food, fantastic & knowledgeable service, awesome setting, and unbeatable corkage fee. Gorgeous, easy, five minute drive from Cooperstown

Reviewers are being too hard on this place. It has a great view and a decent menu. If you want to eat on the lake this is one of two options and I guarantee you will spend more at the other option. If you’re worried about the cost go for lunch and enjoy yourself. I don’t know how the one reviewer spent $ 270 here. I assume he could spend that at Applebee’s as well. Service was good. Clam chowder was good. It was cold and we were sitting outside so I ordered an Irish coffee to warm me up, it was great, one of the better I’ve had at a restaurant. Give this place a try for the view, you will not be disappointed.

Great setting by the lake. Food is a notch above average. One of those menus with ‘Asian fusion’ items that are just too sweet and overly flavored. Pricey too. Service is rushed and brusque. Were it not for the setting, this place would be mediocre at best.

I’ve been here twice during visits to Cooperstown and had really good experiences both times. The view is beautiful, the service is good, and the food is excellent. They have a chef on hand to cook specialty Thai food and it’s really good — especially if you’re vegetarian or vegan, this will pretty much be your only option. The last time I was here was during induction weekend and they were also hosting the Secretary of the Navy and the Hall of Fame president while we were eating dinner — they managed to seat and take care of the high profile guests with minimal disruption to the rest of us, which was very impressive. It’s a short drive from downtown Cooperstown but worth it for the pretty lakeside view and excellent food.

It is what it is. Pricey, touristy. Nice lakefront ambiance, friendly servers, nice menu. Don’t drink too much because there is a severe lack of bathrooms. Because it is in an active boatyard with a dirt and gravel driveway you can expect a nice layer of dust on your car.

We had a great time eating dinner on the lake. Food was really good. The trout seemed fresh. I had the baby back ribs.

David, our server, was excellent. He had tables in the bar area and deck area. It was obvious that he received several tables at one time still continued to provide excellent service. The food was great… Right in line with all these reviews. There was also a bus gal who was there to keep waters filled, plates cleared, etc. The only issue was the hostess. Rude is an understatement. This place is a definite go to just be prepared for an unfriendly attitude at the front door.

Clearly you’re paying for the view through the jacked-up prices for food. And the view is spectacular. Nestled in a small cove neighbored by boats in dry dock this restaurant offers keen lakeside views from nearly every table. At sunset I know of no other place to be on the lake. It must be because of this prime real estate you pay for what even in tourist overrun Cooperstown is very high prices for very mediocre food. The menu reads more like pub fare with a pedigree than fine dining– coconut shrimp, potstickers, tuna nachos, etc. We dined with a table for five. Three shared appetizers, two bottles of moderately priced wine and five entrees came to $ 270. No entrée was under $ 30. If you need a fix of the lake and can manage the prices this place is worth a stop, though our experience did not make this a culinary destination.

very good food and service but it is overrun(like most of Cooperstown) with baseball families in summer visiting the Dreams Park. grouper was delicious but pricey. Ribs were great as were spring roll appetizer. loud and crowded.

Food is delicious. Atmosphere is adorable. Plan on staying a while and browsing the gift shop before/after. There are some really funny items.

Nice view, but the lunch menu is overpriced for mediocre food and service. The clam chowder was bland and required the addition of salt and pepper. The French fries were very good, but after informing our server that the lid of our ketchup squeeze bottle was not screwed on all the way and created a mess on a plate, she apologized and left to retrieve a new one. We were then brought another bottle with a top that was not properly screwed on. Really!!! The«homemade» lemonade tasted like the powder Country Time mix, and there were no refills which we found out when given our bill. There was no hand soap in the men’s or women’s restrooms, and each wreaked of urine. Overall it wasn’t quite the experience we were hoping for.

Called ahead for seating — one adult table(9) and one children’s table(4 — all over the age of 10), both outside. When we arrived we had two adult tables and one child’s table, both inside. The waitress told us initially that she was unable to split tabs. She had us order our wine by number and was unable to deliver the correct drinks to the appropriate persons. The menu consisted of a large blackboard that was brought to each table to order from. Our water glasses were only refilled once. We were never asked if we wanted a second glass of wine or a second cocktail. When we received our tab, we were shocked to see a 20% gratuity addition and refills for children’s soda that exceeded our adult alcohol charges. The owner was quite rude to our server. It was awkward and embarrassing to see how poorly she treated her staff members.

If you looking for outstanding food and outstanding service — forget about the Blue Mingo. But — if you want a great atmosphere, incredible view and like sitting a few feet away from a beautiful lake — then go there for sure. We had ice tea at $ 2.50 each, half order of ribs at $ 19 and a filet at $ 38. The food was mediocre at best, it was served warm and not hot. Our server dropped off our food and we never saw her again until we were both finished with the meal. No follow up visits. no refills on drinks offered. The rib order was kind of small and overcooked some, and the filet had some fat and no way was worth $ 38. The atmosphere was awesome — great to sit outside not very far from Otsego Lake. and what I mean is not many FEET from the lake. Nice bar and a nice bar menu. We spit a coconut cake served warm with ice cream, whipped cream all drizzled with some kind of candy swirl. Really good $ 8. We are going back for sure with the faith that the food will be better the next time we go, and if it’s not. it’s still really relaxing.(You can see the Kingfisher Tower from just about any table [built in 1876 — history buffs — Google it!]).

Love the view, and the food was spectacular! Seared tuna«nachos» with seaweed and wasabi dipping sauce YUM! Casual vibe, amazing food and beautiful view… All the ingredients for a good time, just add friends and family. Can’t wait to come back! Really cute place.

Don’t bother to go if you’re not one of the«Cooperstown Elite»…moderately-sized fish in a tiny pond. You’ll be ignored by the waitstaff. Oh… and eat BEFORE you go, so you don’t leave hungry.

I’ll start with the negative: we drove past it 3 times before we could find it but well worth the hunt. The menu was outstanding and we were told it changes often. The pork belly with butternut risotto was an amazing combination of flavors. The shrimp in cajun sauce with chorizo was spicy and delicious, Add an amazing cocktail menu and the dinner was perfect. The description of the deserts was so tempting but we couldn’t squeeze in another bite. The waitress was very attentive but not annoying. Her suggestions were helpful and she made the dinner a pleasurable experience. Been coming to Cooperstown for 25 years and this is my first visit. Can’t believe what I have been missing.

This is a kind of upscale bar and grill that apparently caters to boaters. It was absolutely pouring ran, but it looks like you could get served right off your boat. The hostess was kind of brusque, but waitress(once she got to us, it was pretty busy) was friendly. The food was very good. we had fish tacos, shrimp wrap, a burger, a lobster roll, NE clam chowder, and coconut shrimp. Everything was really tasty. The amount of seafood in all the food was crazy. The chowder had tons of clams in it. The lobster roll was huge and TONS of huge pieces of lobster. Shrimp wrap was packed with shrimp. Beer selection is just ok(hope you love ommegang) and at first we steered clear of the coctails($ 10 a pop) but apparently they bring a glass and a little carafe to refill it too. The place isn’t cheap, but when you take all the seafood into account it’s understandable. Be aware this is the high end of the«two dollar» mark on Unilocal. PS, Desserts were passable.

A little hidden gem which is off the beaten path. This place is incredible. Make sure you use the address: 6098 New York 80, Cooperstown, NY13326, when GPSing the location of this restaurant because it is off the beaten path it is pretty hard to find and if you aren’t looking you will drive right past. The view of Otsego Lake is outstanding make sure you are sitting on the deck if the weather permits. Blue Mingo has many local craft beers and seafood so I was like a pig in mud. For the non-seafood lovers, they do have other items to make the crowd happy. I’ve read some other reviews saying that the food was pricey, if you want good food it’s gonna be a little pricey, plus I’m from DC I thought the food was in a fine price range. This is a restaurant I will recommend to anyone who tells me they are in Cooperstown, there was nothing bad about Blue Mingo. The food is spectacular! This is by far one of the best places to eat while you are in Cooperstown.

What an awesome place! I just moved to Cooperstown and a family member recommended the Blue Mingo to me for lunch. I was not disappointed in the least bit. The dining area is outside and they have a spectacular view of Lake Otsego(you can rent all sorts of boats from them too, which is great). The service was very good and our meal was delicious. We got siracha fries for an appetizer and they were soooo good. I got a blue cheese burger for my meal and it was one of the best burgers I’ve ever had. They have Ommegang on tap and that always warrants an extra star in my mind. Bottom line: great food, great service, a great location make this a perfect place to grab lunch!
