Maybe my experience with sushi is much different then those of the residents of Cooperstown because I have maybe 5 or 6 different sushi restaurants to choose from just in my town alone but my experience was somewhere between 2.5−3 stars. The rice was stale and the seaweed was super chewy making it hard to eat through 3 sushi rolls for only two people. We ended up leaving a good amount of the sushi on the plate. The chicken teriyaki bento box was ok, chicken was dry and hard to chew. Suggestions: Use fresh rice and new seaweed and don’t murder the chicken. Also my eel avocado roll had«eel sauce» on it which basically tasted like sugar, possibly to appeal to the Cooperstown/less experienced foodie demographic. Pros: Mt. Fuji is clean and the ambiance is great, the service was friendly except for the owner/or manager constantly walking around on his phone.

The only Japanese food place you can go to. The food is pretty decent but it is a little bit pricey.

We ordered three rolls and a sashimi platter and they were excellent. Quiet, enjoyable atmosphere and friendly service. Highly recommend.

I have been here a couple of times so far and each time has been a good experience. First off everything I have ordered tasted fresh and was presented very appealing to the eyes. The seaweed salad has a great taste and was fresh and crisp. The beef negamaki was actually better than I expected and my go to eel and avocado roll was just as good as any of the lame expensive NYC places. Spicy tuna rolls were tasty and I was a little surprised when my Philadelphia roll came with avocado in it but it was a nice surprise. If you are a local let them know that you are local and get yourself a card which is a great way to say thank you to the community. They also have a good selection of sake either by the glass or bottle. The staff is always attentive and the place is clean. I usually eat sushi about once a week so it is nice to be able to walk and enjoy a good meal.

I just ate there today for lunch with my kids. We ordered the deluxe sashimi platter, chicken teriyaki bento box and the Naruto roll. Positives You have Sushi in Cooperstown! The service is friendly, clean. The salad dressing that came with the salad was tasty. Our nice server carefully listened to all of our allergy restrictions and was awesome. Negatives The sashimi was not fresh! Our server promised that it would be. :’(Some portion of the selections smelled off and should not have been served. It looked great when presented but you know how that can be. The truth is other dishes were good and we were hungry and just grateful that we could have some gluten free meals. This is an upstate N.Y. sushi restaurant trying to be something that it is not, authentic. Things got really weird when I said no to wanting a box for the unfinished platter. While I was paying, another server came to ask why I had declined. I told her the reason in the most polite way but she kept reasoning and insisting that it was fresh. I felt very uncomfortable in her tone. Very awkward since I did not complain only answered honestly when she asked. I just wanted to pay my bill and leave. My last words were No worries, I am grateful that you guys are even here. With a smile, I left. So I think if you order any of their cooked dishes and different seasoned rolls, you will be good. I almost wished they had served it slightly frozen as they do at most sub par places. I saw my daughter having a gag reflex when having their tuna and wanted to see if it was fresh and after I chewed it, I had to spit it out. When you serve the sashimi, there isn’t any seasoning to mask the freshness. You really have to be honest about that and I feel that they were not. So the shame should be on the sushi chefs at Mt.Fuji. Please see my Sushi Prince review for comparison.

We go to Cooperstown every year for Hall of Fame Weekend and found this place because it had the shortest line, but that is only because it is new. We were definitely impressed. Right across the street from Doubleday Field the food was good and cheap. We stopped in for lunch I had the 3 sushi roll deal with soup and salad for only $ 13.95. My 3 rolls were and eel, spicy salmon and tuna avacado all were real good and came pretty fast. Hold on let’s back up a bit, the salad was fresh and not your typical heavy ginger dressing. Still a ginger dressing but much creamier than normal but still very good. My wife had a mushroom beef soup which was also very tasty. For lunch my wife had the hibachi steak. Perfectly cooked filet with plenty of veggies and big bowl of rice. Fried rice was excellent, almost the best I have ever had. And again only $ 15.95. Even the iced tea was good and freshly brewed. Without a doubt I would recommend this place, in fact we did tell our friends about it.

I love this restaurant. The fish is great and the staff is eager to please. We were regular customers at the other location in Oneonta and now they are in our backyard. The hibachi dishes are delicious and they can cook in front of you if you sit toward the back of the restaurant. Teriyaki dishes are also excellent. I would recommend this place for locals and tourists alike.

The food and service were great. Such a nice surprise to find a really good hibachi-sushi restaurant in a secluded Cooperstown.

This is a fantastic restaurant in Cooperstown! I am very blessed to have this restaurant in this town because it’s so rare to have Japanese food here. I went there to eat with my family to celebrate my daughters sweet 16! I had an excellent time with the staff and the food here are very fresh and delicious. I had steak hibachi lunch, it came with soup, salad, and you could choice with fried rice or noodle. I have to say the price here are very reasonable. The food quality here is at its best!

Yea!!! We’ve been going to their place in Oneonta for a few years now. it’s great to have them in Cooperstown. Their Sushi is some of the best prepared I’ve had anywhere(though a bit on the expensive side) and my wife feels the same way about their various rolls. Very attentive wait staff and open dining area. What’s not to love.

This is average sushi. I live in Manhattan and have 6+ Japanese restaurants within a 4 block radius of my apartment. That being said this place is pretty much comperable to the average sushi joint down in nyc — price wise a bit expensive for average sushi though… $ 24.95 for sushi deluxe, $ 29.95 for sushi sashimi combo($ 21.95 and $ 24.95 is more on point with price for these meals– they should add sushi regular for $ 19.95). Pretty presentation. Big pieces of fish, decent quality and fresh. It was good. Probably the best you’ll find in a 25 mile radius. in fact the only sushi you’ll find in a 25 mile radius. Nice big pretty space, clean and nicely decorated. The servers need some work. The miso soup nearly ended up in my lap and one guy did not know what a Sapporo beer was(it’s on the menu.).
