We should’ve read the Unilocal reviews first before going in. Way over-priced shitty food. Paid $ 8.00 for a jumbo hot-dog that was generic brand from Wal-Mart(even though the menu claimed it was a beef brat), with bland sauerkraut and potato chips. I wouldn’t be so annoyed if they were Nathan’s or Hebrew National, but trust me, they use cheap shit from Wal-mart. Didn’t include a soda either. Three hotdogs and three sodas came to $ 32! WTF?! Oh and they don’t have horseradish mustard. They had«spicy» mustard. Save yourself money and go to McD’s or one of the gas stations for better hot-dogs.

The server was very nice but that didn’t make up for the lousy food. I really could have done better at McDonald’s. We should have known, with the place being empty, that we should have kept looking. Honestly, the place looks run down and dumpy, another reason we should have kept looking. The fried fish, the chicken sandwich all previously frozen and lackluster.

Food was good, very overpriced, but good. The lobster bisque was very good. The sandwiches were good, but like I said– very overpriced.

We were looking for something to eat and found this little spot. It’s a little pricey but the food came quick. Friendly and nice little spot.

Food was good but $ 32 for 2 Reubens. Crazy… service slow. Staff hanging around texting eating in view of patrons. Will never go back

I ordered the mixed green salad with grilled chicken. The salad was mostly brown iceberg or a wilted leaf of mesclun and the cucumbers were even mushy! Even the bottle of beer wasn’t really cold… Gross

We came upon this place after wandering through Cooperstown a bit and looking at the menu(posted on a sign without prices). It wasn’t fancy but that’s what we were looking for. My husband ordered a bison burger special and I got the shrimp skewers. The waitress was VERY nice but not knowledgable about the menu. She had to check the menu to see if my shrimp came with a side(which it did). The paper menu in the restaurant said it came with«a side» the posted menu we saw before sitting down said it came with«your choice of two sides». My meal was brought to me with 2 shrimp skewers. I had to bring up the point that the menu said the meal came with 3 skewers… The shrimp were the tiny, little(probably previously frozen) ones and the special chili sauce was the standard stuff you can buy at the grocery store. Then the bill came. They charged us $ 4MORE than the price listed in the menu or my already overpriced and underwhelming shrimp dish. It was late and we were tired and didn’t want to ruin the rest of our evening, so we didn’t make a big deal about the ridiculous discrepancies. I would never revisit this place and it’s probably not worth your money to do so either.

Awful food. Avoid. Convenient location draws you in. Steak sandwich was inedible. Wings were undercooked. Nice service though.

We discovered this place by accident. The food was good and the service was great. I had the patio burger and it was great. My son had the pig burger and it was great too. When we were done with dinner the ice cream shop was already closed but they opened it up for us! Thank you for the great service!

We walked in this little place by accident… just an open place on a Sunday. What a great surprise. The bratwurst was excellent, plump and juicy, like it’s supposed to be. Others of us ordered burgers, and franks. Everyone was happy.(The German food is their specialty, we recommend the bratwurst above all else.) Our waitress and the owner were friendly. AND they support the locals by having great Ommegang beer on tap(as well as in bottles). Tip: stop into one of several gift shops in the area and pickup a discount ticket before eating. Pioneer is on the list.

To start off, this is a tourist town, so most of the venues are overpriced. That being said, this was one of those venues. Our waitress was rude and dishonest, and the restaurant was dirty, which is unappetizing. I ordered the chicken burger with boom boom sauce. The boom boom sauce, which I expected to be good, tasted like chocolate milk from a school cafeteria. I took chips on the side, which were stale and out of the bag. There were only two people there besides my party and I, but nonetheless, our food took about 25 minutes to come out, and when we asked for utensils, our waitress ran around for 5 minutes frantically and presented us with plastic utensils. Not to mention the smell, which smelled like old bleu cheese. I would recommend the Doubleday Cafè over this low end establishment

Incredibly unprofessional experience with the owner here. The wait staff was kind, the food was average at best but the management was exceptionally poor. Being right was way more important than customer service and satisfaction.

We had just spent the day at a nearby museum and were famished by the time we stumbled upon this place. Food was decent and may be a little overpriced for what you get. I originally wanted to order the ‘Shroom and Swiss Burger, but the ran out of mushrooms, so I decided on the Big Pig burger instead. The burgers and sandwiches are served with regular potato chips and for $ 2.50 upcharge, you can have fries instead. My meal was delicious but it wasn’t spectacular. My sister ordered the Monte Cristo and was not impressed. We also sat outsidea and plethora of flies seemed ready to dine with us as well.

We ate because they had gluten free options! very satisfied. I had the ruben sandwich it was wonderful, I was very concerned as I have experience really bad gluten free breads in many great restaurants in the past. I wasn’t very optimistic. I was pleasantly surprised as the bread was soft and tasty! My husband had a burger. We both enjoyed our meals and the free ice cream after!

Enjoyed an excellent meal and patient and good service with a LARGE group of 48. The staff was very careful in taking orders and providing checks for each family. My meal of Pork Schnitzel was very well prepared and quite tasty as was my choice of side, German potato salad. I felt the prices were fair and having reviewed the entire menu and prices, I don’t really understand many complaints about the meal costs. It seemed very reasonable to me. Those I spoke to in my group also seemed quite satisfied with their meals. Their handling of our large group was really very well done. My only negative was that soups and appetizers were brought out at same time as meals for some of us, but I think this is a function of the size of our group. I would not hesitate to return or recommend the place to a friend.

Probably better food options in the area, but Pioneer Patio hit the spot nonetheless. Seems like standard bar food options are the way to go. We ordered some beers, wings and nachos. The wings were actually really good but the nachos seemed like they could have been cooked at your own kitchen right at home. It was literally a bag of store brought tortilla chips thrown in an oven with cheese, jalapenos, sour cream and salsa. Waitress was friendly but took forever to bring us our drinks and take our order. Also seemed like she was in a rush to get us out of there, asking us if she could bring us our check before we even finished the meal. Probably would not order anything else but appetizers if I ever came here again. Beer selection was pretty decent.

Loved my food here. After spending the morning at the Baseball Hall of Fame I needed a burger or a dog. So I got both! German Burger has the delicious burger and covered with bacon and melted Swiss… oh and wait: a split frankfurter on top! So delicious. The pickles were a nice touch as well. The fries are crispy and well seasoned. $ 12.99 was a bit high for the burger and dog, but everything else was reasonable. Friends got the frankfurters for $ 5.99. They have a great house relish that is both sweet and spicy. Sauerkraut was great too. Wait staff was attentive and helpful with choices. I’m glad my Unilocal app wouldn’t load, cause all the people on here are ripping the place. It was absolutely packed and all our people were happy.

I agree entirely with most of the comments. Food is edible enough but way overpriced for the quality. The guys working the grill and counter on a Saturday afternoon were pretty cool though. For the entire party we had an order of nachos for an appetizer that were standard if not below that. Nothing bad, but also nothing good. Looked very thrown together. Cant really comment on anyone else’s sandwich, but my monte cristo was pretty subpar. First, they didnt have any ham left, so I asked for pastrami and turkey instead. No problem. But, the execution of the sandwich was at best the same quality I could make at home. Plenty of meat, not enough cheese, but none of the crisp outer bread(or french toast depending on where you get your cristo) that makes the sandwich so good. In fact, I would even say the abundance of meat went far over a good meat: bun ratio and bordered on the ridiculous. So, due to that, the cheese didnt entirely melt, the meat wasnt warm, and the bread wasnt as classically golden brown as I am used to. Sides of chips and pickles were fine. For the type of place and the quality of food, the prices are pretty unreasonable. 10 bucks for most burgers or sandwiches, but another 2.50 if you dont want the chips and would prefer some french fries. Kind of a lofty tag for something that does nothing more than fills the belly. They do have Old Slugger ale on tap, but not much else to go around. I probably will pass on Pioneer Patio when I am back in Cooperstown again, not because it was extraordinarily bad but more because I didnt get anything out of the experience that would make me want to go back.

Just OK. My wife had the potato and onion soup, which was average at best — but overpriced at 5.95. I had the knockwurst. It was solid, but like the soup overpriced at 8.95. The kids menu was also overpriced, with my daughters hot dog coming in at 5.95. Won’t be returning with so many alternatives within a block.
