Really nice atmosphere, nice people, and good coffee. As someone from the Portland area, and used to good coffee in an environment that feels like a neighborhood«living room,» Kaffe 101 is breath of fresh air — a coffeehouse oasis in this particular stretch of the coast.

It was cheap which was good because nothing else was. The coffee was almost undrinkable and the sandwiches were super average. It was just slightly strange. Wouldn’t recommend stopping here if you are passing through Coo’s Bay like we were. You would be better off stopping at Subway.

My parents live in Coos Bay, so we stop here from time to time when we’re in town. Probably ten visits so far. The coffee is totally serviceable/good, I’ve never had much of a complaint there. The establishment is always clean and comfortable. The issue is the service. The girls that work there are sort of the worst… especially since, because it’s a Christian-run place, you kind of expect super sweet, attentive baristas? I wish it didn’t advertise the religious element so heavily, because I’m a Christian myself and Kaffe 101 gives us a bad name, frankly. From dismissive to downright snobbish and rude, I feel like I’ve never had a good experience there. STOPHIRINGJUSTANYTOO-COOL-FOR-SCHOOLTEENAGERFROMYOUTHGROUP. Hire some folk with decent customer service capabilities! Provide some training/guidance!!! Anyone visiting from a larger town or city(we’re coming from Portland) is going to leave K101 with a bad taste in their mouth if they receive any of the same treatment there that I have. There’s a new coffee shop in town just a block and a half away. I would think that there’s no way the newbie stands a chance, except that we went there today and got 10000x the service that we get at K101. As I said before, I’m a Xian too, and I would love to see this business thrive. I’m sure we’ll make another visit there at some point, and I really hope things will have changed behind the counter.

Stopped in here while traveling/working remotely. The setting is very quiet and comfortable with large couches and stuffed chairs to work/sit in for long periods. Lots of power sources and free wifi. Staff were very friendly, courteous. Food was tasty. Would stop in here again.

I am an avid coffee lover so when I went to Kaffe 101 with my family for the first time I was so excited. Unfortunately my joy was short lived because as soon as we walked in the young girls at the counter weren’t very welcoming. They seemed more interested in their own conversation than our orders and made me feel like I was bothering them. The place was empty so they could’ve easily paused their chatting for a moment to fake a smile. After we ordering the drinks and deserts didn’t take long to get to us. I ordered some caramel coffee drink that tasted like a milkshake with extra sugar. It had NO coffee flavor at all. I then tasted my my mothers drink to see if it was because of the type of drink I ordered but hers was the same. I then tried the chocolate dessert and found it to be quite flavorless. I was so disappointed because I’ve heard so many wonderful things about Kaffe 101. It is over priced and poorly made food. The only reason they are still open is because it is basically owned by the biggest church in this tiny town and all of the members mindlessly go there and spend too much money to support the business. If you want to go somewhere that has great food and service go to Ciccarelli’s. It’s still a little spendy but worth every penny.

What a wonderful start to a relaxing vacation. I had the triple latte and it is one of the best coffee drinks I’ve had in months. The warm cinnamon walnut scone was amazing! The calming interior, obviously regular patrons discussing life’s latest issues and the friendly staff topped this off as a wonderful experience. I think I found the start of each day for my week in Coos Bay.

I’ve been here a couple times. The coffee is amazing! Last time I went(about a week ago) I ordered a caramel latte, and it was delicious! My dad ordered a cup of tomato soup and some bread, and I had a bite of the bread dipped in the soup. it was very good! Kaffe 101 has a great, large, cozy atmosphere as well.

A great and comfortable coffee shop and café. Warm and friendly service and great lattes. Spacious enough to sit down and enjoy a drink without feeling rushed. Free wifi and wonderful relaxing music made the experience all that more enjoyable. We will definitely be back when we come through Coos Bay again.

Had a decent breakfast sandwich and delicious chai tea latte here while passing through. Lots of space to sit, free wi-fi and plenty of on-street parking. Great little spot overall, barely noticed its religious affiliation.

Nice, cozy environment with lots of space. Love the fireplace! The staff seem very unexperienced with food service. They are nice enough. I asked for an iced coffee and the girl made it wrong! They move very slow. The coffee is too weak for my taste.

This place is 100% worth the extra dollar or two. The food is amazing and the environment is also. Weather you like a pretty window seat or a cozy table for two in the back your covered here. There is also a private room in the back I see that is currently hosting a baby shower. The food is amazing as is the beverage I got. There are big leather loveseats in the corners to lounge in and soft soothing christian music plays and the service is great! Do stop in here. As a local I advise you do so. You’ll be glad u did.

We plan to return to see how my chat with the manager went after I informed her we were Not greeted at all nor welcomed as we placed our order. In fact the blond haired young lady looked at me with disgust ! This is unacceptable as they are a religious establishment and bookstore. Religious quotes from the Bible are everywhere. The lack of kindness was surprising because displaying the«Fruitage of the Spirit» is an absolute must IF one claims to be a Christian and a follower of Christ. Not a positive experience.

This is a great place for good quality coffee in coos bay. My favorite thing to order here is the chai tea latte. Even living a major city I have a hard time finding a place that has chai that I like more than Kaffe 101. Good little place to relax for sure.

This is a comfortable café to sit, drink coffee, and order a scone. I also love you can literally swing off the 101 and park right there on the street. Easy access! That being said, it is a Christian bookstore and has those undertones throughout… It’s a blessing in disguise. Lol(pun intended). Quiet music playing, wifi, and I feel enlightened by the positive atmosphere. That being said, it’s a perfect location on the main stretch of 101 south. So pull over quick on the side of the road, grab your drink and head out if your not in the mood to stay. The place is large inside, so don’t think you’ll be squished directly next to another table. They even have big comfy chairs and smooth dim controlled lighting. Very cozy. Also, that being said, they serve lunch and breakfast items here as well. And the few things I had here to eat we’re all delightful and made with love. And furthermore, that being said, the girls who work here are very sweet and well spoken. Beats Dutch bros anyday…:0 where some might use the bible as a coaster. That being said. Nice place. Keep up the warm vibes! :D

Kaffe 101 is a beautifully done café with a relaxing and welcoming atmosphere to those who enter its doors. The coffee and the teas that they serve are pretty good and the little desserts that they serve up really satisfy those taste buds. I’d recommend the Marionberry Scone as a satisfying treat to anyone whose got a slight craving for something sweet. I mean c’mon, read on to Karen C. review that is just all about em! If you’re not looking for a sweet treat but a good lunch to fill that stomach then look no further. I also delved into their BBQ chicken salad which is absolutely amazing. The salad has all the usual makings to it like tomato, onions, and lettuce in a hefty serving but add on bacon bits with grilled chicken drizzled with BBQ sauce and you have yourself a meal! Their soups aren’t too bad either and be sure to inquire the soup of the day as they have a different one for each day. I have yet to try their panini sandwiches but I’m sure they’re pretty good as my mouth waters when I see one served up to some of the patrons. To sum it up, Kaffe 101 has some great and friendly service that bonds well with its décor and atmosphere. I come often as it’s a great place to work on some schoolwork when it’s not crowded and I’ve seen other patrons come in to work on things or even just to browse the internet through the café’s free Wi-Fi. Yes the place is owned by a church as evident by the bookstore located inside but other than that as, Julia R. has stated, it doesn’t have that overtly religious feel.

Love the berry scones! Large sweet blackberries pressed into the top of the dough, baked in a sheet cake style pan with drizzle and cut into large slices. Disappointed last time I visited to see the one last piece I was going to buy slip away on a waitress tray delivered to another patron… then being told no more being made. This was on a Friday! Come on people, plan ahead for the weekend!

I’m not religious but I am a religious coffee drinker. I found myself in Coos Bay, just for the hell of it, and needed a cuppa. The location of the shop is close to the waterferont and convenient if you are driving through. Kaffe 101 was open, it looked decent from the outside and so I ventured forth, or ‘onward Christian soldier’ if you prefer. You see, this is a Christian bookstore too. I crossed the street from the Coos Bay Visitor Center through the everpresent fog(literal, not figurative) and entered a very inviting, modern, and warm(literal again) space. I looked around, felt that I was safe from a conversion, or whatever happens in a Christian Bookstore/Coffeshop and since there was no lightning striking me as I approached the threshold, err counter, I ordered my latte. The barista took my order with cool efficiency and wasn’t as warm as the surroundings would have dictated. Maybe she knew I wasn’t a believer, but she did seem less than friendly to me. Hmm… I guess that charm is saved for the saved. The coffee was tasty enough, but it didn’t make me have any revelations of the religious or java variety. Worth a stop if you find yourself in Coos Bay at 8AM and need to warm up with a decent coffee.
