My fiancé picked up food from here. It took them 20 min to make our order. This is a fine time for a sit down restaurant but this is a quick service restaurant and we were on our lunch break. Then when we got back to work it turns out they have us the wrong sandwich. Instead of goat cheese prosciutto and honey we were given an apple walnuts sandwich and it was horrible. When we called they passed us around to 4 people before finally admitting fault and issuing a refund Their soup is really good and so was the other sandwich we got.

This business is recently under new management and it’s been an amazing transition. Just today, I was craving their DELICIOUS(and huge) chocolate brownie and Gale(Gayle, Gail, I don’t know which is the correct spelling) informed me that they had a $ 12 minimum for delivery orders. Well, I told her all I wanted was my favorite brownie, and I was bummed that they couldn’t deliver it for the $ 5 it costs.(I had already eaten lunch — if not I would’ve ordered food from them too). She caught me right before I hung up and asked me if I would be interested in waiting to see if they got an order from around the same area as me so that she could make an exception for me… I had called last week for the brownie too, so let’s just say she knows I’m a choco-holic. Anyway, sure enough, she called me back an hour later and said that her delivery guy was coming this way and asked if I still wanted the brownie! I obviously said yes. I love small businesses and I love compassionate people. Add that to the fact that they have amazing food and you’ve got one of the best restaurants in the Coral Gables Area!

A five star casual lunch experience – love the French flavor, home made soups, and genuine care that the crew running Pete’s puts into this near perfect soup and sandwich lunch spot. Go with their suggestions on the soup, too.

I came for a quick lunch while studying nearby. I would like to give them a better score, I really would, but four I feel is stretching it as they were above a three but below a four. They have one of the friendliest staff I have ever met, and sell their food very well. For a healthier bite, it was good, but a few things kept me from giving them a full score detailed below– Starting with the ambiance– a nice bright open space with low music, a good business type atmosphere. Clean without feeling sterile Food– soup — French onion — not enough salt, good flavor but under seasoned. Tomato bisque– again under seasoned, not cooked long enough(tomatoes had a hard texture) sandwiches– excellent whole wheat bread does not over power the sandwich, and is thin enough to not be the entirety of the sandwich. Curry chicken– great flavor, but the chicken is simply coated in the sauce and so you are left wanting more flavor. Special sandwich — chicken(replaced roast beef) horseradish sauce peppers and cheese– well constructed and pressed panini. No complaints there. So all in all– good sandwiches, soups are underseasoned, but friendly staff and service. Good for a quick bite during business

I wanted to like this place more, especially since the owner was such a sweet man. My husband and I stopped for an early lunch today and there was no one there except us. We had the french onion soup, which was not very flavorful and was bland. I also had the chicken and avocado sandwich, which was fine, but nothing special. Maybe I caught them on a bad day, but it was a very average lunch. The owner was so sweet though and gave us free samples of soup and chicken salad — but I did not think the flavor was that good, even though the gesture was very nice.

This is a great little spot, perfect for a delicious meal that’s on the healthy side. Add to that beyond amazing service and fair pricing and you got the perfect recipe for a happy belly and a great day. The place looks very clean and friendly with white tables and chairs, and cool, casual decorations. The guy behind the cashier was GREAT and the main reason behind my 5 start review. He offered me some soup of the day and chicken salad to try, explaining everything to me with a smile. I went for the soup of the day made of veggies, kale and peppercorns, and also their chicken, bacon and avocado sandwich. I grabbed a bottle from their fridge for my drink and he offered to open it for me… Such a nice gentleman! After that he kept checking on me to make sure I was happy, and even brought over a free, warm, chewy and delicious oatmeal-raisin cookie when I was done…(who IS this guy? Lol). The food was really good and fulfilling. And the $ 13 plus change brought it all to the surreal point. Keep up the great work! People will fall for you instantly. I know I did…

I am not an extreme fan of French food, so I went with a salad, Wow, so fresh so much flavor with some tea. Prices are high(minus 1 star) because even for the area I feel it is too high. Yes I will come back though, very cool place and good food.

Just changed offices to this area and was looking for a fresh and easy lunch spot. Seems to be I found it at Unilocal!Their soups(3 options) were great and fresh. I had a quiche combo, with soup and salad. Even the ice tea and the lemonade were yummy. The prices are comparable to the area but the location is beautiful and relaxing for a lunch break. Will be back!

Pricey lunch for fast food restaurant with small portions and the food combo is 13 dollars. I was excited to try this place with all the good reviews. After trying Pete’s we don’t plan to revisit. This is a lack luster fast food spot for lunch, there are better fast food choices in the area.

First of here and I will keep coming back. The service is superb, the food is excellent and the location is perfect. A little take on a small town french bistro in the heart of Coral Gables. I had the creamy muchroom soup and the nicoise salad. All taken down with some refreshing tea. All this completed my lunch for today. I will be back and spreading the word. Thank you the Big Smiles too…

Great go-to spot for lunch in the Gables. They recently added French dinner on Friday night which I’d love to check out soon! The menu has lunch staples — sandwiches, soup, salads, smoothies, quiche and some desserts. The two times I have stopped by I ordered salads as they always sound so darn good. Everything is super fresh and the large size is just enough to fill me up without the guilt(although I almost caved last time to get one of the giant chocolate chip cookies for«balance»). I’m not a big soup person but the staff is always eager to offer a sample of the soup of the day which is much appreciated! They have daily specials which are awesome for regulars that want to switch it up every now and then. You can scope out the menu online to know what you’re in for. Having a rough day and need a drink? They even have beer and wine, along with a wide variety of juices, soda and water. I love the fact they have soup/sandwich, salad/soup and salad/chip combos, all of which come with a beverage. The best part of all? It’s affordable! You can get a high quality meal for just about $ 10! Pete himself is usually there and super friendly, as is the rest of his staff. The design is very simple and clean, a place I wouldn’t mind hanging out in for awhile. Overall, glad this spot has gained what seems like a good following. Look forward to being back soon!

I came in here for a quick lunch while in Coral Gables. I am stoked to see so many great spots popping up in the Gables — this being one of them. By the time I arrived the lunch rush was gone, so we ordered and got our food very quickly. They have a bunch of sandwiches, soups and salads. After eating like a pig the night before(had everything fried), I got a large Caprese salad. It was good. Perfect for lunch — not too heavy so I wouldn’t need a nap after, but filling enough to get me till dinner. Plus, a little less guilt than the dinner the night before. The staff is super nice — and the place is spotless. Nice, white tables and really cool funky art on the walls with vegetable paintings over some writing. Parking like most of the Gables is tricky, but if you can snag a meter you are all set. If you are coming here for lunch it’s most likely you are walking though.

Came here for the first time with my friend for lunch. A couple of my friends have been here and had great things to say on other Unilocal reviews. This place did not disapoint. From the moment I walked in I felt welcomed. Great customer service, very friendly and attentive, especially Pete and Ivania who gave me great recomendations on what to order. The food is so fresh and delicious. I had a turkey, tomato and cheese quiché acompanied with a green salad and balsamic dressing and a chocolate granola cookie everything was so good! Their strawberry lemonade was made to order. They are only open for until 3 weekdays. Be sure sure to try out this little gem on Giralda.

The moment we walked in, Pete offered us a sample of the soup of the day. He was very friendly and helpful! Helped us pick what to get and was right with his suggestions. The food was fresh and delicious. I got the chicken curry panini and my boyfriend got the chicken Caesar. Although he hates tomatoes — he said they were so fresh he had to keep them on. They also have craft beer(for my beer snobby boyfriend) and bottles of wine.

Wow, I’m so impressed with the quality of food and the EXCELLENT customer service! How refreshing was to find a place like this in a city were customer service is not always the best! I walked in and they were already closed, but they still welcomed me with a huge smile and a very nice spirit. I really felt like they appreciated my business. I will definitely go back! Thank you Pete’s Authentic for a great experience!

Yummy little spot in the heart of the Gables offering simple, no fuss, fresh and tasty lunch options. They have a nice selection of sandwiches and soups to please everyone. Their soups are made from scratch and you can definitely taste le love that le chef puts in it. We received small shots of each soup du jour to take our pick. We went for the ginger/coconut/carrot or squash, don’t recall, but it was amazing. We enjoyed sandwiches and their chocolate mousse which was tres magnifique. Service was on point. They were warm, friendly and hospitable. A great spot to stop in for lunch while in the area.

My coworkers and I ordered delivery from here. It was a simple order: a couple cups of soup and three sandwiches. An hour had gone by before we received a call from the restaurant, claiming that the delivery boy was«lost in the building» and had been for a half hour. So first, what were they doing that it took them a half hour to call us to tell us about the lost delivery boy? They claimed that he asked around looking for us but no one knew who we were. Let me say this: we order out almost every day and the secretaries in the building know who we are and where we work. So we knew that he was bluffing to try to cover his behind to his superior. As if this wasn’t enough: the delivery guy had gone back to the restaurant as In he gave up on finding us! Paying customers! When he finally returned with our order(now more than 90 minutes since placing the order), we called him on making up the story about communicating with the secretaries and he admitted that he didn’t ask around but instead wandered the building unguided and feeling like he didn’t have to ask around. And as if THIS wasn’t enough, oh it gets worse. The bag, in which everything is crammed, is leaking like someone spilled a bottle of water inside the bag! Everything was a mess! They tried to cram everything in one bag and ended up crushing one of the cups of soup with a soda can. The soup had to be tossed out, it was inedible. He had no explanation for this mess. He apologized but didn’t provide any explanation whatsoever. And then(yes it gets even worse), after my coworker expressed her dissatisfaction with the whole situation, he has the audacity to make a comment to the tune of «you are really beautiful.» How unprofessional and disrespectful can one delivery boy be?! This was outrageous and left me dumbfounded. Customer service gets an F. It doesn’t even matter the quality of the food: if the service is atrocious, they don’t deserve any positive comments whatsoever. If I could give 0 stars I would. Will NEVER order from here again. I come here for breakfast. It’s a very nice little place, modern but quaint. Everything is made fresh and the owner is extremely nice. The egg scramble with spinach, tomatoes and swiss cheese is really good, so are the omelets. They have fresh squeeze OJ and I was told the last time that they were going to start using zak the baker bread which I’m excited about. A friend of mines says their squash soup at lunch is amazing so I’ll have to stop by for lunch soon.

The place itself has a very hectic feel to it at lunch time(this is normal at lunch hours for this area) but it felt great to see a business run all crazy and hectic, but they seemed to keep it together. I disagree about the prices I think the individual sandwiches, quiches, soups, and desserts are extremely reasonably priced especially when you understand the freshness of food. Any combo with chips doesn’t make much Financial sense since the water and chips would cost you 2.25 a piece. Where it does make sense is when you have a soup or salad combo. Outside of that, not really.
