This place is horrible. Even after it changed hands, it’s still terrible. New price every time, the worst staff possible, dirty, smells bad, overall a lousy business. Don’t waste your money! I will never go back! Didn’t even want to put 1 star. There should be a zero star rating.

I’ve worked next to this place for about 6 years. On an average week I would go religiously almost everyday; the food was that good! After new management took over the level of quality and service has severely diminished. The food is tasteless and apparently the owner has done lots of cut back to maximize profits, thus leading to higher prices and low quality ingredients. Not to mention, a bald man there that makes everyone woman feel uncomfortable with his perv like stares and lack of respect. If at all cost avoid this place and head to an actual Chicken Grill near by or a Pollo Tropical.

They never charge you the same price. They deliver incorrect orders. They all have an attitude. They refuse to give you a refund. The worst.

I don’t know what’s going on with this establishment but it seems like it’s getting worse and worse every time I visit it lately. I’m not sure I’ll be back again. I think they might’ve had a change in management but it getting reeeeally bad. The place looks disheveled, empty, lacks supplies, smells bad and the service is eh. Except for a nice girl that’s at the register everyone else looks ‘not all there’. It’s sad to see this place turn for the worse but hopefully it’ll come around again! Keeping my fingers crossed! :)

Undercooked chicken. Missing a menu with prices. They added and charged me for pita that I didn’t want. Way too much food for way too much money! I came in at 9pm on a Tuesday night. I was the only one in there, but that’s ok — it was late. I was greeted by a nice gentleman who explained the menu options since there was no menu with prices. He made my original chop chop which is really a ton of food and is way too much for one woman. I paid over $ 10 for this(and 50 cents for pita which I didn’t ask for) so that was kind of expensive. I sat down and opened my styrofoam container. It looked pretty good and I was excited for the curry sauce! However the rice was dried out and the chicken was undercooked. It was raw in the middle. I told the gentleman this but he either didn’t hear me or didn’t care because he was silent in response. Don’t go here. If you are stuck in that shopping center after 9pm — go to Friday’s.

Just went here for a quick bite with a friend on friday at around 8pm. What seemed like the manager or owner(no other patrons or staff were in) did greet us in a friendly manner and took our order. My friend had one of their basic chops and i just ordered a chop with chicken cheese and mushrooms and nothing else. My firend and I were engrossed in conversation and werent really paying much attention to the menu or the prices but when we actually sat down and started eating and looked at the receipt we had been charged $ 21 for just two bowls! one should have been only $ 6 and one was just chicken cheese and mushrooms! neither one of us ordered a drink just two cups of water. to make matters worse, the following date my friends credit card had been charged for a total of over $ 25 when his receipt said $ 21. That being said, because i prefer at least mediocre service to deceitful practices– we are never going back there!

Terrible food. Truly gross. They also over charged my credit card so be careful.

This is one of the only chicken chop place in the area. Some days the food is amazing and others, not so much. They don’t have a menu when you come up to order other than the«to-go» menu. If you’re looking for a quick bite to eat, come here. Otherwise, go to the Chicken Kitchen on Red Road for a consistently good chicken chop.

What a disappointment. Years ago I would stop by after class’s all the time. This place was one of my favorites. Out of all of the Chicken Kitchen type places this was my favorite. The chop chops were original, flavorful and fresh. As you can imagine I was excited to be back, but this visit wasn’t like any before. I stopped in for lunch and had the churrasco chop. The rice was bland and flavorless, the black beans tasted as if they were straight from a can. As for the churrasco it was far from churrasco, it was bland, tough and tasted as if it had been sitting out for hours. The fresh pita that use to accompany the chop chops was replaced with store bought flour tortillas. As if this wasn’t enough the prices have gone up and they now only accept cash. As you can imagine this visit was my last and the saddest part I this place used to be packed. The staff was friendly and the prices reasonable. Now the food is a sloppy flavorless mess and all seems to have been sitting out for quite a while. The restaurant is no longer fresh and inviting. It now looks like it has seen better days and the staff is anything but inviting. Needless to say I won’t be back.

I’ve been coming to this place since I was at the U!!! There is no other place around here that has healthy fast food like this! Unless you wanna wait an hour at Chipotle or go get dry chicken in Chicken Kitchen I recommend you come here for that healthy fast food! They also give a great portion of chicken unlike these other chicken places the way they wanna measure every little thing! Hit it up!

This used to be a good place, but not anymore. Their door says they’re open until 10:00 pm, as does Unilocal, but at 9:10 tonight they were already closed. On a Friday night! Several people walked up to the door, which was still unlocked, only to be told they were closed. The door also has a «For comments please call» but the number has been removed. Either the owners don’t know what’s going on, or they don’t care. They’d might as well and shutter it now and avoid themselves the agony. Of course they could be doing ok but at least change the sign on the door to reflect the actual hours of operation. This is the second time I’ve found it closed. Don’t waste your time !!!

Oh, University Chicken Grill. Props to you for ripping me off. Granted, it was my own fault for assuming that since there were no prices on your menu that you must be within the same price range as Chicken Kitchen. Silly me for not knowing that you’re actually DOUBLE the price! I went to this spot during my lunch break knowing that I would be paying a little more than at Chicken Kitchen since it’s located directly across from UMiami and let’s face it; if you’re paying $ 50K per year to go to school, you’re probably not all that interested in how much your chop chop costs. But I am! I ordered the New Orleans chop which is just bourbon chicken(the same that you get at the Cajun Grill in the mall) with yellow rice and lettuce. At the Chicken Kitchen near Sunset Place on Red Road I pay about $ 6 for this. Here, I paid $ 12, not including a drink! I just about jumped out of my skin when the lady told me the total cost. $ 12 for chicken and rice. In Miami, home of Latin American food? Is this some kind of joke that I just don’t understand? After paying my tab, I expected this to be the best bourbon chicken and rice out there. I expected an explosion of New Orleans Cajun flavors that would seemingly transport my taste buds to the city itself. Do you know what it tasted like? Bourbon chicken and rice from Cajun Grill. Needless to say, I think I’ll fight the traffic getting to the Chicken Kitchen on Red Road rather than pay an extra $ 6 for something I could buy at the mall food court. Pssshhhh, is my only sentiment towards this place. I will not be returning.

The food is very good. The service, however, not what it used to be. I was not greeted with a smile, wasn’t asked what type of rice I wanted, if I wanted any sauces on the side or any additional items for that matter. I honestly feel like an unwelcome guest. They prices may have increased too. I don’t recall a churrasco chop chop with a side of guacamole being $ 10 Again, the food is good. Today the service was simply way z below average.

Once and never again! Looks just like other chop chop diners serving the same thing under different menu names. However, here they don’t publish their prices(at least not on the menu board); truly mafia if you ask me. The place isn’t really clean either. UM discount equates to 5%. Something is better than nothing right? Not really. Advertently, I was charged for pita bread which I didn’t ask for and it turned out to be a tortilla instead!

Ask for the Cane discount if you’re a Cane. Prices can be a bit much to make it a daily lunch spot but the food is great and you usually get the tray filled with food. Staff is usually clowning around, not in a bad way. Makes for a laid back environment welcoming environment. Walls are adorned with UM memorabilia. Overall it’s a cool spot, go check it out.

When you walk in, it is a very small shop and there is no sign to where you should order. Or at least I didn’t see one. As soon as you walkin you order at the counter. But when I went there it took them like 10 mins to get my order and NOONE was in the shop, well one other person but we arrived at the same time. I ordered a curry chicken chop wrap with extra sauce on the side(they charge you extra). I’m glad I got the extra sauce though without it I think it would be a little too bland. There is A LOT of rice in the wrap but they didn’t just have a chop chop only a wrap for the curry. So I just ate it with a fork and scooped it out. There was a good amount of chicken in it though. Its like any other chicken kitchen chop chop whatever. Nothing I would crave for. Definately good for the university students(since its right across UMiami). The store definately has a fire hazard because when I was leaving there is only one way in and out. As I was leaving there was a line of frat boys and I had no way out but to scoot my way out from one of the booths by the door.(if that makes sense lol)

Perfectly acceptable for what it is, which is a college town-esque chop-choppy chicken place. You can go with a chop or a wrap — I’d recommend the churrasco. On the balance, I’d say this is a notch above the Chicken Kitchen — better portions, better quality. Maybe a buck or two too costly for what it is, but nothing too egregious. Employees can be a little lax at times, but hey, you’re coming here for a quick churrasco chop, not fine-dining service. It’s across from the University of Miami, so expect to see lots of Canes sports posters, and plenty of UM employees and students.
