Winans Chocolates & Coffees

Very cute little shop that’s been present for some time and until recently I hadn’t been made the pilgrimage in to check out what they’re doing in here. It’s quite the nice post with lots going on!
The chocolate counter greets you as you walk in and has a wide array of choices including «fruit» options. Things are sold by the pound — $ 22.95/lb specifically — and the options include picking your own or buying in half pound increments in pre-​packaged aliquots. The fruits were quite lovely as were the caramels, an chocolates… really everything was good. Definitely try the chocolate covered orange peel — it’s strong to quite strong!
The coffee options are also plentiful and include brewed varieties and beans for purchase. A drip rotation looks to include about 10 options. I tried the Mojo roast and it was very good. Lots of espresso and froofy drink choices is that’s your dig.
All in all, another wonderful specialty shop in the area that I wish I’d found out about some time ago. This is one place that’s well worth stopping in and grabbing some caffeinated beverage and a few treats for the kiddos and your better half!

Just stopped in for the first time today at Winans and the coffee was outstanding. Their expresso blend that they use is so good. I couldn’t pass up the opportunity to try some of the chocolates in the display case which were also very pleasing. Had a great conversation with the owner during and after the purchase. Definitely recommend!!!

Nice little coffee and chocolate shop. I usually just get the triple americano but the iced coffee looks tasty.

This is a coffee and chocolate bar I wish more people knew about. Fantastic. Best coffee shop in the Iowa City area. Owner is friendly and the hours are flexible. Coffee never disappoints and a great selection of goodys. Highly recommend!

Stopped in during a weekend trip to Iowa and was highly impressed. My assorted chocolates were so delicious, and the creamy mocha espresso beans are amazing!

Was sent some of these chocolates for Thanksgiving by relatives in Iowa, and they are just wonderful! I love dark chocolate, and find some other brands like Godiva much too sweet. These are really terrific. I’ll be looking to order these for myself!
