I have placed several online orders for a large original crust, The Works and enjoyed them. Occasionally the driver may not find us as quickly as he should. This review is based more on the MANAGEMENTRESPONSE from my last pizza order debacle. I place an online order for a large The Works original crust at 7:15pm. At 8:15 after no word or sign of a driver, I give them a call and inquire about the status. I was told it hadn’t left the building yet but it will be in a minute. After about 15 minutes the driver appears, tells me that it is hot because it just came out. What was inside that box turned my stomach. I was unhappy with the product, temperature, texture and topping arrangement and even lack of some toppings. I sent an e-mail to their customer service that night titled«pizza order sucked»… Quote«I placed an order tonight and what I got was unbelievably nasty.(order #298832579). I waited 1 hour after placing the order before calling to see where it was. I was told it hadn’t left the building yet but it is within the minute. It arrived COLD and SOGGY, I only live a couple miles away. There was entirely too much sauce making for the „unbelievably nasty“ comment. You couldn’t tell if you were eating an onion or a mushroom. You only know it wasn’t meat because there was a serious lack of meat topping… My husband and I debated over whether to order from Papa John’s or Pizza Hut. The prices for the same pizza was less than a dollar difference. I told him I liked Papa John’s crust better because it has a hint of garlic. Well, needless to say this one didn’t and it will be like pulling teeth to get my husband to order from Papa John’s again… how could I blame him?» I got an instant automated response thanking me for my comments. The next night I got a phone call from management of the local Papa John’s and he was very disappointed and apologetic. We discussed how that was not a normal representation of their product and also by adding more sauce, it cuts into their profits. I told him I couldn’t stomach one slice and if that happened to me he can be assured it is happening to others. He did offer a free product as an apology, I have not taken him up on that offer because it was truly a bad experience. I told him I may try again in a couple weeks. Update: 9−2−14 A couple weeks ago I had a bad experience with Papa John’s, but management was cooperative and offered a makeup meal to prove their quality isn’t truly lacking. I placed an order for the usual ‘The Works’ on original crust at 6:45 and that pizza was at my doorstep at 7:07 and piping hot. This review update(deserving of 1 star) is for the product itself and not the speed of service. This pizza had heat, plenty of toppings and even meat was visible. The pizza sauce has changed in some way over the past couple months, because this pizza was inedible. The sauce is watery and gives the dough it touches a «raw dough» texture and taste. I put the pizza in a slow oven and cooked it for about 22 minutes and it did dry out the crust, but there is an unpleasant taste and mouth feel from the sauce. We didn’t eat the pizza and this is our final attempt to stomach one.(Update: 1-11-2016 still haven’t eaten another of their pizzas). Pizza Hut prices are only a few cents different and the quality of their pizza hasn’t wavered in years.
