Our Daily Bread

I purchased a $ 10 groupon that turned out to be broken into 4 uses… Shoulda read the fine print! I went once and they are supper nice and have great bread but when I returned today I found them closed with a sign stating they will only be open Saturday 9 till they run out. I’m not sure if business is just so good they can afford to do this or if they are ready to shut it down? Either way that was the proverbial nail in the coffin for me, just bummed I wasted my money on the groupon. I would have given them four stars easy if not for the let down.

Best bakery secret in town. Wonderful warm family bakery with real ingredients (I inspected the bags myself, being a bit neurotic!) We love the sourdough boule, and sliced Italian for sandwiches. Wish they had espresso, though. Canolis yum, CHIMNEY CAKE YUM YUM YUM!!! Owner so nice, always gives my kids a «taste» of something when we come in.

I stopped at Our Daily Bread today, as I am on a search for good sandwich rolls. I ended up leaving with some of the best Italian (they called European) bread that I have had in the Charlotte/​Cornelius area.
Atmosphere — Designed for pick up, a few tables and chairs, mom and pop setup, counter (order it, pick-​up, go)
Service — Friendly, basic… Our Daily Bread does offer to slice your bread into nice sandwich sized portions, which I had done.
Food — On my visit today I got a loaf of their Italian (European) bread and two turnovers (cheese and apple). The bread was fantastic! It had a light crust and a little bit of chewiness with a nice overall aroma… attributes to me of an excellent Italian bread. At least it was like the kind I am used to from the North East. I knew I really liked the bread when I ate half of it in just one sitting (I do love me some good Italian bread)!!
The pastries I ordered were just okay, as the dough used was not sweet enough to my liking. If I got them again, I would just order the apple turnover.
Overall — I will definitely stop back for more of their delicious bread. While in the shop I saw that they sell pizzas too. I will have to try one next time and update my review.
Tip — This place is kind of hidden. Look for it next to the Waffle House.
