A really good bookstore at a time when they’re getting harder to find. Nice selection, homey feel — not too small, not too big. Great children’s section. Not on the main road, so it’s a little tucked away, but Unilocal’s directions helped us find it. Worth a trip, for sure.

Terrific discovery in Corolla, NC. This is a real bookstore, with well-selected new books and classic titles on two floors of a charming space. The children’s selection is especially good, and the entire store has plenty to choose from. Finding the Island Bookstore and spending an hour combing through the shelves was one of the highlights of our trip to the Outer Banks.

Oh, Island Bookstore… can I just move in and live among your cozy aisles of books, your pretty posters, your recommendations taped to shelves, your artsy book-inspired gifts scattered throughout the store? This little shop is a book-lovers dream. Tucked away behind the historic lighthouse village, Island Bookstore is an inviting shop that sits behind a white picket fence. Books seem to fall out the front door onto the porch — stacks and displays that draw you in so completely, we had a hard time pulling away just to get into the shop! There are two floors of every kind of book imaginable. Creative placement of recommendations, offers, and reviews make the shop intriguing and inviting. There is a cute section for kids books in the back corner. The second floor has a few chairs to rest your weary feet and encourage more browsing. There are lots of little gifts to accompany your literary purchases. The staff are friendly and helpful. If you’re a bookworm or just looking for a great beach read, you don’t want to miss this fantastic little independent shop. Fair warning for bibliophiles: set aside a few hours for browsing!

Great little bookstore. We found a book we had been looking for for some time. Nice selection by local authors. Great advise for our teenager on a new author for him to try out. Exactly the kind of service that comes from independent book stores(and not from inline retailers).

Stopped in here to find a good beach read and really enjoyed the place! Very cozy, well-kept bookstore and the staff was quite welcoming. They have a good selection for their size – everything from pulp fiction to new age! They don’t have a lot of older classics(I went in looking for Walden), but they have more than enough to make up for it!

Great independent bookstore in Corolla Village. The owners have filled this small but comfortable, attractive shop with a wide selection of classics, literary fiction, beach reads, kids books and more. Definitely recommended!

Gorgeous, comfortable bookstore nestled inside an old house, with floral-upholstered, overstuffed chairs, loads of books on numerous topics, including literature, travel, and science, and fun toys for children. Charming and calm, with staff members who make excellent recommendations. I could easily spend hours here. A total gem in the Outer Banks, lurking quietly behind soft breezes and rustling leaves.
