Drinks are overpriced and female staff is sexy but unprofessional. I heard this was a celebrity spot for Met’s baseball players etc. Went in and the staff was gorgeous but had attitude or was lazy or there English was horrendous. Place is super small and needs to be expanded. I wont be going there again. Just not worth the money you spend.

Lets start with the food: it is good. I wouldn’t call it authentic dominican food, it is basically a bit more upscale than your typical dominican restaurant. But it is good. The service was a bit mixed. They had plenty of servers but they weren’t attentive at all. Besides giving us the menu we had to hunt a server for anything else. overall, i would go there again but because of the food not anything else.

Had the churasco and sweet plantains. The churasco and side salad were delicious. Cooked perfectly and a very generous portion. The plantains left a bit to be desired… just average. Nice atmosphere, friendly staff and good service. Seems pricey but hey it’s ny… isn’t everything? Definitely recommend.

I have been to Rubio’s many times! I love it here. The food is amazing, always! I enjoy coming here but it’s very small and can get really crowded at night time. So if you’re looking for a more relaxed time you have to go earlier during the day.

Just had dinner there with a friend the drinks are good my friend got the steak and I got the goat. Which was very bad tasting I let the waitress know right away and she said no problem but they refuse to take off the bill and took the dish away we had dessert then ask for the bill charge not removed the owner said that I’m the only one who did not like the goat and left it in the bill I paid and give the waitress a tip. She was nice. But will never go there again.

Food was awesome. My husband had the Churasco and I had the Filet a lo Macho. Great atmosphere. Ashley our hostess and waitress was great and very helpful. The peach margarita(frozen) was good too. For an appetizer we had the star of Love… this is a cheese lover’s delight. Will totally go back and recommend to others. And they deliver too.

Im going to start off positive because I have alot of negative! Food…i got baked chicken breast topped with mozzarella cheese, sitting on top of yuca mofongo. With something called salsa de aceituna… which i later found out is olive sauce. This dish was really tasty… chicken cooked nicely, mofongo had a great taste although I did find a stem in it from the yuca not being peeled properly. Came with a side of spinach… super simple… but good! Okay so thats that with that… now for all the reasons why I would never recommend this place Service — horrible 1. We had a offer, manager told us «i know nothing about that» We had to speak to him because as per our waitress…“the girl who takes that isnt here” and new nothing else. It was like TOOBAD for you! Meanwhile we found this place on and had no intentions of ever coming back… so we wanted to use our voucher towards this visit! Manager was rude and annoyed and suggested we pay in full… then«call them» tomorrow… but heres the kicker… when we said«call for what?»…the manager said«i dont know, i dont know what they do». WEIRDO!!! After just walking away from us… the manager told the waitress to take our voucher. I dont play these games… if you participate on a discount site… then be honorable… and participate!!! 2. The place– small… large bar on your left when you walk in… like right next to you… so it takes up most of the space in the front. Tables very close to each other. Sat us by the dj booth and small stage… dj was facing me… AWKWARD. …watching me eat! Music was way to loud for a Sunday 8pm. Couldn’t hear our waitress 3. Which should of been 1! MENUISINSPANISHONLY… Soooo i guess non spanish readers not welcomed! 4. SNOTTY hostess and waitress! Our drink was made wrong(like completely different from the first one we had) and the waitress had to get«permission» to take it back! Your kidding me rite??? It was a long island ice tea… you could see through the glass it was made wrong by its color… looked like pepsi! Waitress was annoyed we couldn’t hear her… was rushing us out… when we said we weren’t done eating she stood nearby and continuously«looked back» at me… WEIRDONESS! 5. OVERPRICED! In a questionable neighborhood, small, tacky looking place wants $ 15 bucks for my plate. Plenty of other nice restaurants in nice areas, with great service to go get a dish like this at… no need to give your cash to this place! I cant stand when restaurants dont have good customer service… its like… WAKEUP… do you have any idea how many restaurants there are out there!!! «Gurl…bye!»

This is simply the best Dominican restaurant in Queens. Price is a bit above average for spanish food but trust me is worth every single penny. Service, food, atmosphere… Is all all worth 5 stars.

I must say this is one of the best Dominican spots in this area. I been here twice and never disappointed. I had the Riconsito Sutil first visit and tonight the Churrasco and La Estrella De Amor as an appetizer! Banging stuff!!!

We ordered a asopao de camarones(a creole shrimp gumbo-Dominican style). The best I’ve tasted, wow! The owner was welcoming and was on target with the hospitality. Food great, bit over priced! A good friend of mine, Mariano and I went to Rubio’s after being disappointed by the service at another Dominican restaurant in Washington Heights. It was a Sunday afternoon and we were starving. Rubio’s, this best kept secret in the town I proudly grew up in, Corona, Queens, took care and went beyond satisfying our hunger and craving for good Dom food! By the way they are opening up in Miami, where I live, very soon.

I’ve visited this restaurant about 6 times so far in the past two months and i love their food. The churrasco is always good and delicious. It can get busy which can cause service to be slow but they’re always friendly and seem to try their best to bring out the food fast. The croquetas de pollo and the baby Fongo is also really good. The Patron Margarita is my signature drink here. So far so good!

Baby mofongo. Interesting. Boo came here before and had a baby mofongo craving. Slow weekday visit, decided to sit in the back where there’s like a greenhouse or something. Came during happy hour and got a whiskey sour. By far one of the best I’ve had all summer. YUM. Baby mofongo is an app and is really cute. Comes with shrimp on top and a little side salad. I see it being on the menu if it was an entrée option. It was cute but for that I rather order a big one. Looking at the rest of the menu it was pretty pricey. Being a Dominican myself and frequently eating similar food it’s a hefty Price tag. Go to Washington heights get the same for half the price. Service was great, then lacked towards the end. When we wanted the check she started washing dishes. In plain view, then disappeared. Had to walk up and get our check after like 10 min. Then there’s a service charge for using card. Stated nowhere. Then apparently it was lunch break as the hostess and a server(half the foh at the time) were eating in the foh. I’m all for breaks but c’mon at least make sure were good before eating. Cash in hand during happy hour, a tip to myself and you.

I’ve been here a few times and this is the first time I will write a review on this place. So let’s start with ambience pretty nice I’ve seen better and been to better lounges /resturants. As for music was nice and décor pretty cool. Great sports memorabilia on walls. As for food, not impressed at all I’ve eaten here before and I believe my first time food was 10 times better. So i ordered the skirt steak with salad and rice. Steak was well done. I asked for medium. Strike one. I also ordered tostones and their was a hair on one of them. Ay Ay gross! Strike two. My boyfriend had the salmon which was nicely cooked however the white sauce that comes with it had zero taste. Strike three. Not sure what it was even made with. Looked like butter and some heavy cream. Idk. I gave it a 3 I believe place is cute for just drinks and music. As for food .Won’t come back to eat sorry.
