Worst food I have eaten. Chicken and empanadas tasted like they were dipped in the same cooking oil that has been stored all week. Never again. Do not waste your time and money at this place.

KFC move on over. This Guatemalan fast food joint is sure to keep you coming back for more. This is my second time here & I have to say this place has the best fried chicken in the history of fast food places. Prices are reasonable. Try the Camperitos, chicken nuggets that are crispy, tasty, and a good size. Can you believe they have plantains, tortillas & rice? Wasn’t a fan of the Cole slaw or beans or the dessert menu so you may want to skip that. Awesomeness!!! Service was quick and everyone was friendly. Give it a try it’s delish.

I’m in love with this place. It’s the perfect craving satisfaction. Both the grilled and fried chicken are good and the fries are awesome. Not too greasy yet delicious. The mashed potatoes and plantains are pretty good too. I wasn’t a huge fan of their desserts but I’ll survive lol. They do offer specials and give out coupons which is actually pretty good. Definitely a good fast food place.

I love trying out different fast food places. I came for dinner to take home after work. I had the 2 piece chicken with fries, tortilla and the chicken empanada. It was okay typical for fast food chicken. The people working there were nice. The prices are average.

The chicken is hands down the best in town. It’s fried chicken that is so crispy and well seasoned, unlike KFC where it’s soggy skin plus dripping grease. There is no excess grease with Pollo Campero. Did I mention how crispy and delicious it is? The Cole slaw is very important and here, it is fresh and crunchy, unlike KFC where they add sugar and everything is soggy and old. The service is great and staff are friendly. Love it. We drive 14 miles to come here any time we have a craving!

Good for on the go food but not the traditional type of food you might expect from the name.

It was neat to visit for the novelty value since prior to stumbling on this location, I had never even heard of the Pollo Campero chain before. The restaurant was well lit, and it was interesting to see the big families meeting and eating for a long time. The chicken and yuca fries were OK but nothing special.

They have delicious food that is very affordable. However, they aren’t very clean. There was an instance when I would see a cockroach on the floor. The staff is very unprofessional. The service is quick but the staff could be better or at least more polite. This is always people just hanging around not doing anything. You are sure to find a woman selling pirated CDs/DVDs no matter the time of day. Management needs a better control of establishment.

First time eating pollo campero in the United States; I ate in the past back in El Salvador and I can say the recipe is quiet the same. The spice and crunchy chicken’s taste is delicious. The restaurant has a great costumer service very courteous and smiling at all time. One more thing you will noticed that there is a pollo campero nearby it is the spice odor from outside.

Pollo Campero is a fast food chicken chain with a Latin twist. They offer interesting sides with the standard 2 and 3 piece meals. The chicken exterior is really crispy but the interior remained moist and juicy. The black beans and white rice I had on the side continued with bold Latin flavors. I was also given a dinner roll with my meal which I found a bit stale. I could tell, however, that had it been fresh, it would have been a really great compliment to the meal because it was slightly sweet. The staff behaved as would be expected in a fast food joint except that they addressed everyone in Spanish initially. I found this quite charming. Unlike many who have posted here, my food came out really fast and I found the large spacious dining room comfortable.

Now that the Washington Heights location( ) has closed its doors for good, it seems fitting for Corona to be the home of the only Pollo Campero in NYC. If it were exclusive to Latin hoods, we could probably stand to have a few more. But considering how(fast food) chains are in NYC, my faith in this actually happening isn’t very high. My first time here, I couldn’t help but liken it as a Latin version of Jollibee. Similarly to that Woodside location( ), it’s busy, spacious, and undoubtedly fast food-riffic. I wish I could say the place was spotless, but the grimy surfaces and ghastly bathrooms would suggest otherwise. The campero fried chicken [aka pollo tradicional] is sort of like KFC’s original recipe. Then of course, there is the extra crispy option and the grilled option, both of which are hot and spicy. I dig the crispy skins and juiciness of the meat for the crispy versions, but any of the grilled chickens have been more dry than not. Expect to cough up $ 6 or so for any of the combos — the breast /wing or legs /thighs seem to be the most common, yet a lot of patrons here tend to go with some sort of crazy family pack($ 30+)] Come for the chicken, skip the sad sides. Fast food sides are already bad enough, but PC’s «Latin sides» are all low grade versions of moros, yuca fries, and platanos. Their maduro(sweet plaintain) is almost candied bacon sweet and I’d recommend avoiding their cole slaw or caesar salad altogether. The same goes for their lowly desserts(avoid the tres leches and flan!), but this is no surprise. There’s not much to report on the service front. Zombie employees tend to roam the counter and slow maintenance staff leads to lots of unattended tables(people, just clean up your own mess) and might be the major reason why the bathroom is the way that it is. Come to think of it, get your food togo.

Failure. Complete and utter failure. Came here to pick up something quick and small to eat. Probably one of the worst decisions I ever made. The wait was excruciatingly long. I thought maybe they are catching a live chicken in the back and the food will be fresh! However, the fried chicken was dry, small and tasted funny. The rotisserie chicken was better, but still tiny and nonetheless-dry. Mashed potato side was watered down failure and the coleslaw tasted sour. Only thing that would justify 1 star(since I HAVE to give at least 1 star) is the fried yucca. It was VERY starchy, but it was crisp and fresh. The dipping sauce tasted like Ketchup and mayonnaise mixture, but it actually went well with the fried yucca. However, after one, I was out because it was soo starchy. Wow, how are they in business and how do they have so many people waiting for their food? Unbelievable. Don’t eat here.

Fast food ambiance with a front door that’s always open in the winter. The upstairs was closed, so it’s hard to get away from the cold. That said, the food was really good, especially the chicken rice bowl. We had empanadas and sweet platantos, also really good, though slightly on the bland side. The staff is friendly, and the customers equally so. It’s mostly Spanish-speaking, but they’ll work with you and are very gringo-friendly. Much better than your local KFC.

Another missed review because I had this a long time ago, but not forgotten and here it is. I was glad that it’s not another American franchise fast food. When I hunt for food, I want to try something different. It keeps me from touring the city of NY where talent, varieties and creativity flourish in every block. One of the reasons, why NYC is the most travelled by — our cultural influence is what makes the city so unique and that’s why it is considered the World’s City. Everything is here. The first thing I asked was, ‘where is this restaurant originally from’?. I think I remembered it was from Ecuador or Guatemala? Wow, they travel for a chicken! What a celebration! I ordered to try different kinds in the menu, and I was satisfied. I would not mind going back here. I plan to have this food again soon.

Uh, what’s the big fuss? I remember a few years back when we were departing Miami to go back to NY, we saw this chick carrying a big box of Pollo Campero chicken back. We thought, man that must be some GOODCHICKEN! After listening to people talk endlessly about how great this chicken is, we decided to go for it. This is NOT a good neighborhood. It’s in Corona, if that means anything to you. Basically, we were worried about our car sitting on the street for the brief 20 minutes that we were in the joint. They have Yucca fries. So I asked her, what’s a yucca? She showed me the picture, I still didn’t know what a yucca was? I said, is it like a potato? She goes, no it’s a yucca. !!! We ordered a few pieces of chicken and yucca fries and the rice. The chicken was greasy, the yucca fries and rice were bland. HOWISTHISGOOD? I will not come back here again.

The famous Guatemalan fried chicken chain has landed in New York City in two accessible locations. Both serve the same menu, and both are true to their home country’s delicious restaurant. There are many things that set this fast food chain above its American counterparts. Firstly, they treat you well, are friendly, and do not seem inconvenienced when you place an order. It’s also nice to eat off of real plates and create less waste. Fries are not the obligatory choice of any combo meal, the list of choices is at least 10, and includes tostones, sweet plantains, Campero’s special beans, and many more. All for the price of a combo meal at McDonald’s or Burger King. I added sweet plantains($ 0.30 extra) to my three-piece meal($ 6.59) this time, which includes tortillas and one of many drink options not just limited to soda. The jamaica and tamarindo are both delicious, the horchata here less so. And the chicken, in all its greasy glory is some of the finest fried chicken available. It is thoroughly soaked in the hot grease, inside and out, but that is the beauty of it. Their spices make the skin and meat both explode with great flavor.

Alright, I’ve had better fried chicken. The seasoning was pretty good, but the chicken was a little too greasy for my liking. I have to say, I love the sides here. Not because they are spectacular, but I like the idea of having tostones, yucca fries and rice and beans as options. I am not sure why they would give you a dinner roll when there are corn tortillas to be had. The tostones were very good — nice and crispy, but that is probably because they fried up a batch just for me. Will I come back here? Only if I’m in the neighborhood — not really worth a drive or a 7-train ride.

I’m pretty sure they put crack in their chicken. It’s so good, I’m addicted. Well, this is a Latin American fast food chain that came to the US more than half a decade ago. I heard about it on the radio and made the trek to Queens one day because they were totally raving about it. Apparently there were lines out the door it’s first few weeks. Well, indeed it is delicious. Well, more like crack chicken. The chicken is seasoned so perfectly that it gets beyond the skin into the meat. I normally hate meat with bones and tend to leave half of it. With Pollo Campero’s chicken, I tend to suck the meat right off the bone(hey, get your mind out of the gutter!). The other sides are good… nothing superb but definitely worth ordering for a taste of Latin America, if you haven’t tried it. It’s the chicken that’s truly worth the detour, though.
