The restaurant was the only place in Coronado that had available seats at 6:30pm on a Friday night, which is why we went there. The food was overall pretty good! The service was great too! We came here for my mom’s birthday and none of us were drinking, but the waiter was nice about it. My mom showed up late, but the host was also nice about that. We started with a kale salad, which was very tasty! Then my mom and I both got the salmon and my fiancé got a steak. The waiter suggested for us to get our salmon medium, but when it came out I felt like it was a bit dry and was a bit over cooked for my taste. My fiancé enjoyed his steak and then they gave us a dessert on the house for my mom’s birthday. It was some sort of chocolate gelato with a cake of sorts. Whatever it was, it was good! Overall, this place was beautiful and had good food. It’s a bit out of the way, but I’m sure that during the day the view is amazing. We were there at night so we couldn’t see much…

Excellent food, knowledgeable, friendly and attentive service, and a great view! Quiet and romantic setting for a special celebration or a relaxed dinner. We thoroughly enjoyed the cedar planked salmon, Risotto Coronado, Caesar Salad, soup of potatoes, vegetables and chorizo and amazing Chocolate Bombe dessert with banana gelato.

An overall excellent dining experience. Tables are positioned so all seats have a view of the bay. Food was delicious well seasoned and served hot. Service was consistent and prompt, prices were fair for portion size and the market.

We went there with a party of 12 for my birthday. The service was outstanding and the food was wonderful. Our favorites were the Caesar salad, bursts and heirloom tomatoes, steak, sea bass, salmon, and wonderful desserts. The view is the best. Highly recommended!

My wife and out 13 year old twins had dinner tonight at Mistral. The maitre d’ was an absolute sweetheart and the reason why we booked a reservation. The view was beautiful and the food was very good, fresh. The sea bass and salmon were particularly good. Service was excellent.

Wonderful experience, dining alone, but was well attended by the wait staff, attempting to anticipate my needs before I could! The Chilean Sea Bass was perfection. Again the experience made perfect by the attentive and gracious wait team! Kudos, you nailed it!

We were staying here at the Loew’s Resort and decided to stay in the hotel to eat one night. We were pleasantly surprised. The host was very, very friendly and took into account that it was our anniversary weekend, giving us a perfect table and letting the staff know of our special occasion. Because it is a family resort, there were more young kids than I expected but I liked that the restaurant took care to seat younger kids at the front and put the romantic couples in the back with the better view. I have to give a special shout out for the tuna appetizer — absolutely the best dish we had all week. Delicious, bright flavors, with a great finish, I will dream about that dish. The rest of the food was very good as well, but a little dull in comparison to such a great start. And I was disappointed in the dessert choices. I avoid dairy and there was really no way around it so we skipped out and had dessert downstairs in the informal restaurant.

This is gem hiding in plain sight. At Loew’s resort on Coronado, it isn’t exactly tucked away except for the fact that few people ever get down the Strand as far as Loew’s unless they’re staying there. Here is a reason — a big one — to go almost to Imperial Beach for fine dining. Let’s start with the stunning bay views from the airy open dining room, elegant in design in décor. The receptionist Richard is equally elegant and amenable, and the service attentive as you’d expect. The food, however, takes the cake. Whether it is the tender, juicy, filet with the perfectly seasoned truffle/kale sauce that had my lady in a swoon, or the seared mango slice alternating with lightly seared tuna that I had for a light main, Chef Cho just nails it. I don’t blame him for leaving the kitchen to chat with the clientele for a few minutes — he no doubt likes the expected, and deserved, compliments.

Mistral provided a great view with amazing food and service! We arrived at our reservation time to be greeted and seated immediately. The service was extremely good. There were multiple people serving our food, refilling our drinks while making our dining experience delightful! We started off with the chefs special appetizer of seafood pesto ravioli. Simply incredible. The flavors of this dish were perfect. I would have to say it was the best tasting ravioli I’ve ever had. I chose the pan seared Chilean sea bass with spinach. The fish was light and flaky. It was perfectly done in my book. My husband raved about his NY strip. Again, perfectly prepared medium rare. I had a little bite and would have to agree it was great. Since we were celebrating my birthday, I had to order a tasty treat. Tahitian Vanilla Bean Crème brûlée was on the menu so I couldn’t pass it up. It was full of flavor. The fresh berries on top complimented every bite. Mistral gave this birthday girl an amazing meal with top notch service. Thank you for making my day special!

Service was great. I’ll write a quick pro/con. Pros: Great service. Great views. Good bread service. Pretty good wine list. Burratta was very tasty. Shrimp was cooked well. Cons: NY strip was either very poor quality beef, previously frozen, or both. It was as tough of a steak as I have ever had. It was cooked to a perfect medium rare, but as I mentioned, extremely tough. I would never recommend this especially for $ 34. It was more on the Applebee’s or cheap steak and eggs that you would get at a diner. My wife had the seafood risotto. The shrimp was good but everything else was a little gross. We ate around 7:30 and the dining room was pretty empty. I’m assuming this is a reflection on how the food tastes. I guess this is maybe why they use frozen since they have a long time between purchase and actual service of food. Nice place but they need a lot of work. Restaurant impossible or Gordon Ramsey kitchen nightmares would do this place good.

I loved this place. We were staying at the Loews Coronado Bay Resort and decided to check this place out on your first night. The food was great. I got the ink pasta with a poached egg. The combination of egg and pasta was great and I could have eaten a million bowls. The service was ok. We were greeted by the manager when we first came in, so that is a plus. Our waiter was pretty good, but he told us he would give us bread and the bread never came. The surrounding tables got their bread, but we didn’t. Overall a good experience. A bit pricey, but if you’re staying at the hotel and looking for convenience you should check this place out.

This is a hidden gem! We were here last Thanksgiving and they did an amazing job, from the lovely gentleman host that seated us, to our server Chris who didn’t steer us wrong. The menu was superb, the service excellent and the views just can’t be beat. We requested and had a window seat and got to sit and watch the sunset. We will be going back, and we both highly recommend it to anybody. We were staying on Coronado, by the way, and this is absolutely worth a short trip to that end of the island!

Service was great. Ravioli amazing. The main course was mediocre at best. I could not finish it and they left it on my bill.

Amazing! This is the best place to eat in the entire Loews hotel. The food in the hotel other places was just okay, but this food had the wow factor! And the wow view! You can make OpenTable reservations for this place though they are not needed, but why not to get the points! Upon arrival we were seated by an elderly gentleman who was the best host ever! He was so proud of his restaurant, made us feel special, told us why our seat was the best in the restaurant, etc… He set the tone for a great evening and accomplished more positive in the few moments he was with us than all the hosts I’ve been sat by in my life to date. The servers were attentive and kept drinks refilled. They and the kitchen moved with surprising speed. The kitchen speed was definitely shocking owing to the complexity of the dishes and that the chef was seen walking throughout the restaurant numerous times! **The chef stopped by our table before we ordered to see if we had any questions about the menu or ingredients. He was very friendly and approachable. I ordered the soup of the day — a lamb based soup. It was really great, not thick or heavy and filled with all kinds of great veg. For my entrée I got the filet mignon, which was cooked perfectly and was so tender. The creamed kale under the steak was a great addition. The local veggie side I ordered separately was amazing. It came with mini zucchini and small toy top shaped squash(pattypan squash). I definitely loved my experience and would come to this place a third time if I could. I did come back a second time — ate here twice during my stay. I had the exact same thing and consistency was on point. This restaurant is located on the Loews Coronado Bay Resort property. There is a no patio but amazing bay /marina views. See my other reviews of Loews’ venues: — I reviewed the hotel itself — Cay’s Lounge — Market Café

I was very disappointed by my meal. My vegetarian couscous was dry, unappealing, and tasteless. My mom’s shrimp dish came out all wrong. The shrimp tasted soapy. She was afraid that she would be sick and stopped eating. Dad seemed to like his ravioli and caesar salad, though. Nevertheless, I think the view is spectacular and the dining area is gorgeous. I was also very impressed by the friendly service and the maitre d’s commanding, stern, and all-business demeanor.

Came here for our anniversary dinner. I had made reservations and asked to be seated close to the window. When we got their they were very polite and sat us at a gorgeous table. The waiter made some excellent drink recommendations for wine. We had the steak and fish raviolis, which were pretty good. The sauce on the ravioli was good and creamy, the fish was a little dry but good. I felt their prices were actually really good compared to downtown, but the ambience was very relaxing and nice. I want to come back for HH for sure. Recommend as a date spot. They also have a bar downstairs with a great patio and a view of the city. Overall great chill date or relaxing spot.

We came here for a wonderful Valentines dinner. First course I had the hummus — wonderful flavors. Second course, mushroom purses. So so good. Third, the risotto. I am confident that I could eat only that for a meal and be very happy. Fourth and best, the filet minion done medium. It was seasoned well and was melt in your mouth cooked to perfection. Last was the lava cake which was warm childcare heaven. Great service as well! From being seated to being waited on everyone was more than welcoming. Our only complaint was that the food was slow coming out– however this can be understood given the crowd that night. Thank you for a wonderful night. We certainly plan on coming back.

Absolutely everything about this restaurant is 5 star worthy. Ocean views: gorgeous! Staff: Intentional, kind, attentive and awesome! Food: Incredible, fresh and mouth watering! The chef comes to every table to check on the food, which is a huge thumbs up for me! Our waiter Daniel was familiar with every item on the menu and could explain every ingredient in detail. Water and hot tea were refilled constantly with out request. We ordered the baby kale peach salad, gazpacho ramen, cedar plank salmon, sizzling steak and shrimp, asparagus risotto, seasonal roasted vegetable, Pom frittes and the milk chocolate bomb for dessert. Order the milk chocolate bomb! Do it now… You won’t be disappointed!

I feel so bad not giving a better review, because the service was excellent and the staff was so so nice!!! The food just didn’t measure up, though :(My husband and I came for dinner before seeing Chicago at the Coronado playhouse, and it really was a nice treat driving all the way out here; we’d never been to this part of Coronado and it was so beautiful! The restaurant is located at the Loews hotel, kind of isolated and pretty far down Coronado Island. It’s very tranquil and just gorgeous there. The restaurant is pristine and the VIP treatment is evident from the moment you arrive. The host greeted us and walked us to our table, where we were attended to immediately. Here’s what we ordered: — beet salad with arugula, goat cheese, and candied pecans(fresh, good, not the best beets I’ve eaten) — seared salmon with gnocchi(salmon was pretty much raw in the middle, which made me a bit uncomfortable as it was just kind of weird. Gnocchi on the side was good) — squid ink risotto with calarmari(good, but kind of a large portion and became one-dimensional after several bites) — lobster pot pie(lobster tail was good but the creamy soup it sat in was just too much… too rich and thick) — truffled mac ‘n cheese(my favorite part of the meal… I love truffle :)) — beef cheeks(pretty good) — sorbet trio for dessert(good, standard) Overall it was expensive, which on the surface you might expect though I don’t think the food really warranted the price tag. Service was amazing, however. I think the restaurant has so much potential in terms of the wonderful staff, innovative menu, and amazing location; some of the dishes just need a bit more attention in terms of execution. Still a good night, though I probably won’t rush back!
