They wouldn’t accept my gift certificate there claiming you have to use it at the location you bought it at. Total BS. The food was good though so that’s why I didn’t give 1 star.

The selection is great. I had the BBQ chicken salad and an iced tea. The half salad is a nice size and filling — comes with bread or an apple or chips. Great location and a nice choice for something other than a sit down restaurant. Casual yet super comfy.

1. The staff here were extremely friendly. 2. The food is a no brainer so no comment there. 3. The restaurant seating was in extreme need of being cleaned up. I don’t quite know whom to blame for this. Are the customers supposed to clean their own tables? If so, I didn’t see any clear indicators at this particular Panera. It was truly a disaster with more than 12 tables littered with left over sourdough bowls, old sandwiches and so on. This was mostly on the side of the restaurant near the men’s restrooms. There was a young man hanging out and a couple sitting back there, otherwise the tables were dirty. I’m not wanting to fault the staff because I can see that they were really busy at the counters. If there are areas where customers can toss their own trays and trash it would be nice to do so. Give the employees a break.

Almond chicken salad sandwich wasn’t so appetizing, it tasted more like lettuce and tomatoe

Fantastic smaller Panera located close to the beach. Came here before hitting the beach today and we were pleasantly surprised by the service we received. The girl behind the counter was very nice and helped us out in a great way. We ordered you pick two meals. I got the broccoli cheddar soup and Fuji apple salad with a pecan roll on the side. I then ordered a chai iced latte as wells the food came fairly quick and we ate in peace. There were a lot of people in there, but they moved quickly to get people’s orders. Overall, typical Panera quality(which is good) and the food and service were great. Recommend if you don’t feel like taking a chance on any local spots before or after catching some waves at the beach!

I was extremely disappointed with the service at this Panera. Usually I’m a fan, but unfortunately this location fell short. When I first walked in, I saw a line of about 10 people. Pretty long for a fast casual restaurant, but I wasn’t in a hurry. After waiting in line for about 15 minutes, I was really looking forward to a breakfast bagel. When I got to the counter, the cashier rudely told me that breakfast was no longer being served. I asked him what time it stopped, and he replied 10:30. I glanced at my watch. 10:32. I pointed this out to him, only to be shot down once again. I wanted to walk out without buying anything, but I was too hungry! I ended up getting oatmeal(they serve that all day, but not bagels?) that was soggy and cold. Will definitely not be returning.

I was in Coronado in San Diego, CA… went for lunch since I’ve been to other locations in Texas, but very disappointed with quality and service. Ordered a chicken chipotle panini. Bread was hard, meaning it didn’t feel toasted, soggy, felt like it had been standing for half hour just waiting for someone to order it. Flavor was just not there. Tomatoes were all stacked up one on top of the other, in other words, presentation was awful. Potato chip are in a bag nowadays, not like before where they would give a good amount of chip on the plate. Also, the panini was on top of this paper looking pad, it just looked like one of those frozen paninis you buy at Walmart. Went to talk to a manager, didn’t even acknowledge me, until a cashier was around there and ask me what was wrong. She apologized and asked if I wanted a bag of chips to take! Seriously! To begin with, those bags have like three potato chips inside so what do you expect me to do with that, feed the birds or something! 2nd a bag of chips is not a replacement for lunch you dummy! And last, she didn’t even offered a full refund, just half because apparently I had eaten into it! Lame, lame, lame and poor customer service!!! Bottom line, first and last time I visit this Panera.

You had one job Panera. Phoned in my simple Chipotle chkn and had to wait over 20 minutes to take my order and jet out of there… Meanwhile people are getting their orders who have ordered after me, at the counter! I stand there patiently waiting, with my complimentary water… I work in Coronado and won’t be back anytime soon.

Boooo. Not fresh ingredients/home-made or whatever they claim about their soups. Found a BIG chunk of plastic IN the clam chowder. Yuck. I WILL post the photo«plastic, Booo!!»

Parking is a total turn off but while in Coronado that’s to be expects. There is usually a lot of people here mostly people from the base. Their hot chocolate is delicious and packed with calories. Yum. Their sandwiches are alright.

Panera is Panera, & I love Panera! :-) This specific Panera is in a perfect location, right near the beach/dog beach & a cute patio(that should probably up it’s game with umbrellas for shade). Friendly staff & delicious food. Iced green tea’s always perfect on a hot day at the beach. :-)

Stopped by on a busy Sunday afternoon. The pastry selection was atrocious. Only had cookies and blueberry scones. No croissants or even bread loaves. It’s a bakery they should make fresh pastries all day! Will Never go back!

Had lunch today at Panera in Coronado. Good experience. Short line, fast service. My tomato soup was delicious. Tables were clean, and empty plates removed promptly. Great place for lunch. Inexpensive, too. Special mention: The bread sold by the loaf is extraordinarily good! Yes, they will slice it for you.

So panera is panera. It’s a chain. The reason I’m giving it 2 stars is because of their tendency to steal from customers. We placed an online order and paid for it online. When we went to pick it up they said«sorry we don’t have what you ordered and paid for here» It’s not so much the fault of the store employees but the corporate system I’m assuming. We asked for refund they said sorry can’t do that bc you paid online. Terrible.

This year has been the year of bad Panera experiences. As a 8 year patron of the chain, I am more and more disgusted. How do you run out of silverware? You offer a dining in experience. You should have a dishwasher. If someone is ordering, you know they need silverware. Being served a cup of hot soup with a plastic spoon is unacceptable. And every empty table was dirty. As seems to be the norm. I will not be back to this location.

This place is an absolute dump! I’ve been to other Paneras that weren’t too bad, but the Coronado location seems to be the bastard child of the Panera family. Yes little Susie, Coronado truly is the island of misfit toys. We came in around 7:15PM and there were only a few other customers(that should have been a red flag on a Saturday night, holiday weekend). There was trash and food scraps on the floor throughout the dining areas, and almost every table was dirty. The bathrooms, OMG, well, I won’t even go there. Literally. Then, I asked kid that delivered our food if he could clean the gooey substance off the most appealing table. He only cleaned HALF of the table and left it soaking wet with old dish towel funk. I had to get some napkins to dry it off which left my hands smelling of nasty mildew, just perfect for eating the $ 9 tuna sandwich with. Which leads me to the sandwich… The serving(or should I say lump) of tunafish was so skimpy, I couldn’t spread it over the whole width of the bread. The taste was just average, nothing spectacular. I would think a $ 9 tuna sandwich should curl your toes with excitement. On the way out, I noticed a plate of bananas next to the register that were for sale. The three remaining bananas were nasty, bruised and black. Seriously, Mr. Panera cashier guy, you’re standing there staring at the freakin’ decomposing bananas ALLDAY. If you’re looking for a good sandwich place, you still will be after you leave Coronado’s Panera. My advice, hit the gas and head somewhere else on the PENINSULA(sorry Coronadonites, it’s NOT an island. Get over it).

Be forwarned, if you go for lunch during the week, a lot of the local high schoolers gather with their non-Panera lunches and occupy the booths & tables. So if you are meeting someone for lunch, not only do you have to hope for the best with street parking or the 45 minute limit on parking in the rear you may have to be a tad bit territorial on your preferred seating until you can get up to order. The area was clean and the the people who work there were nice enough. Their menu rotates to accommodate seasonal items. I had the pick 2 combo of cheddar broccoli soup with the chicken avacado cobb. Both were of good size and taste.

EXPIREDHAZELNUTCREAMCHEESE! On Sunday morning, August 3, I went to Panera to buy 13 bagels and two tubes of cream cheese. Of course the bagels were fresh and delicious as always, but the cream cheese on the other hand wasn’t. My brother was complaining his stomach was hurting and the only thing he ate differently from everyone else was the Hazelnut cream cheese spread. I checked the tub and it was EXPIRED! Make sure you check the cream cheese to avoid future stomach aches! :( *UPDATE* I told the manager and he replaced both of our tubs of cream cheese! The worker and manager were very apologetic and kind! They even upgraded one of our Mac n Cheese! But overall, they handled the situation well. :)

Choosing to eat at a chain restaurant has its advantages and its disadvantages. On the plus side, if you have eaten there before, you have an idea of what the atmosphere, service and the quality of food will be. The downside is if there is a dramatic change in service or quality, it is almost always bad. Having eaten at several Panera Bread restaurants, I have a preset expectation of the service level and food quality for this chain. As my group drove down Orange Ave., parking was sparse during the lunchtime rush. Lucky for us, Panera Bread has an entire parking lot just behind the restaurant reserved for their customers. Walking into the restaurant, I see it is the standard Panera Bread layout with the cash registers in the middle. Unfortunately for this location, the space between the main entrance doors and cash registers is limited and creates a traffic jam of customers moving from the soda machine/coffee area to the dining area while people are in line to order. All the while, servers are shuttling food through the same small area. Ordering was a little chaotic as there are no defined lines, but I placed my order, got my bio-degradable plastic cup and moved on. Nice selection of drinks, from the carbonated soda, to coffee and three fresh brewed iced teas. Acai Tea for me. Back through the throngs of people to the other side of the restaurant and out to the patio. When dining on Coronado, you just have to eat outside. Food was quickly delivered to our table. I ordered the cheese pasta with chicken and half a sandwich as my choices for the«Pick 2». The pasta has great cheese flavor and steaming hot. The sandwich was ham & Swiss on rye. Very good again. Pretty simple items, but good flavors and enough to fill me up. The food was very good, the restaurant clean, service was quick and friendly. So why the four stars? The confusion and congestion created in the entry area. Maybe Panera Bread post a hostess there during busy times to keep some order. But I will definitely be back.
