All I have to say is $ 4.32 bottle of water(which is their own name brand, so you know it’s glorified tap water), only 2 choices of ice tea(soooo boring, black and green), no other cold drinks except crap soda, AND no WI-FI. Wow, what a huge disappointment. Time to step it up

I’ve eaten here several times. I hesitated writing such a low review so in fairness I came back to try it again and again. Each time I had the same experience. The restaurant is very clean and has a warm ambiance. The fresh breads and baked goods are attractively displayed. The table arrangement is very inviting. However, The guys behind the counter were less than friendly(being from Coronado, I am very sensitive to representing our city with the friendly and warm atmosphere that most of Coronado offers). When I asked about prices, they seemed put-off and were rude. When I made a small order, they would be the same way, mind you the small restaurant was nearly empty. The first couple of times that I visited, the waiters never bothered to come to my table to get an order. It’s not clear but maybe this is a self-service restaurant. I dont know but I was left waiting a long time. Regarding the food, it was ok. The baked sweets aren’t fresh each day. The breads are but not made on location. I found everything overpriced and very average. I was really hoping for a fresh bakery on Coronado. This isn’t it. I wouldn’t recommend this place to people I like. It’s not horrible but it’s definitely not worth the price and bad attitudes.

Tartine is a great spot for a quick bite — their pastries are delicious! If they have the mixed berry scone, get it! I only gave 4 stars because their entrée’s are over-priced.

Food is great. Pricing is insane. I live on the island and I can’t believe how much they charge for salads, food, etc. Service is bad, rude, unfriendly, condescending — placed an order on the phone and the person was so rude I actually couldn’t comprehend that they charge so much and could be so rude. We used to place family orders weekly at Tartine — spending $ 100s. I will never order from them again.

I was around area, I need some coffee. I came in this restaurant and just hoping that I could get some good coffee. However, This is a worse coffee place, I ever had in my life. I came in the restaurant, no one was greeting me and I found myself a menu on one of the table. Then, I stepped up to the cashier and waited. This was my first time at the restaurant so of course I had some questions about the menu. The cashier was very rude and she seems not happy and didn’t want to answer any question. I should have walk out with order, but I need the coffee. I ordered my coffee 2 espresso shots and came out of almost $ 5. It taste really bad and worse than regular coffee you have it at home without spending time to do it.

You know it’s good when there’s a line out the door and around the corner. Great coffee and gorgeous pastries. I had apple something bread that everyone was all hyped about but I thought it tasted more like eggs and was just too spungy for my liking. I grabbed a little shortcake bite and that definitely satisfied my palette. Yumm! Don’t go if you can’t handle an extremely overcrowded bakery.

FANTASTICSERVICE and excellent food is why we come here for lunch. My wife and I had not been to Coronado for nearly 2 years for our Sunday bike ride until yesterday. We know there are stacks of options for lunch in Coronado but we love it right here at Tartine. Pepe our charming server made us two terrific double shot cappuccinos while we mulled over what to have for lunch. In the end my wife picked the Gorgonzola Tartine and I chose the Croque Monsieur. We enjoyed the lovely breeze on the covered patio while we savored our cappuccinos. Before very long our impressive looking lunch orders were whisked to our table. Our meals were delicious to the 10th degree. Of course we left room for dessert so we ordered a piece of Expresso Chocolate Truffle Cake to share. We enjoyed every moment of our lunch at Tartine and hats off to Pepe and Lauren for spoiling us rotten.

Just not the same place as in 2010. I stopped by for dessert and coffee and walked away not impressed. This is a locals-only type of place but it wasn’t always that way. I remember a friendlier bakery and friendlier service. Tartine came off as pretentious so I’m wondering if there has been a change in ownership. It’s interesting that you walk and try to order some dessert and a cup of Joe and you’re rudely shut down and told to find a waitress. Many of the tables in this mostly empty bakery have names on them. You know the drill, it’s the whole«Yeah, the place is empty but those tables are reserved for the VIPs» bullshit. Dinner did look good, but most people were drinking coffee and eating pastries. We ordered a Pavlova and some Apple slice bread. The Pavlova was amazing as always, the bread was dry and bland. The coffee was terrible and lukewarm. It had been sitting in it’s thurmos all day apparently. I wholeheartedly agree with the negative reviews for this place. I grew up in Coronado and it doesn’t need a place like this. If you come here, you must get the Pavlova and only the Pavlova. Oh, and get yours to go.

If you go anywhere in the area for deserts, go here! We ordered the ricotta and hazelnut tart, coconut cheesecake and walnut brownie. It was so good it was enough as dinner!

Deaserts!!! Pavlova: meringue topped with whipped cream topped with fresh berries. Goodness graciously good! Chocolate coconut cream tart: not too sweet, with light buttery crust and thick wonderful chocolate. Soooo good!!! Coconut cheese cake: very pretty. We ate the other ones first and so we were more critical. It was good though. Too full to think straight or judge fairly. We definitely came to the right place for desserts. Brittany served us and was friendly and efficient. Their menu offers breakfast and lunch as well.

Was craving a pavlova and theirs is tops. That’s about where the good things stop. I ordered a sandwich before my pavlova, so I didn’t just have the pavlova for lunch. Although I wish I had done just that. The pear/gorgonzola tartine sandwich was barely half a sliced up pear and an overwhelming amount of cheese. It definitely needs more pear and less cheese. The bread it was on was good though. After my disappointing sandwich, I was looking forward to my pavlova and a latte. I’m amazed that you can screw up a latte, but they did. I can’t even explain the taste, but it’s beyond bitter. 3 packets of Splenda couldn’t even sweeten it. The service was also so-so. Not sure what the hold up was but things moved slowly. All very nice and polite staff, though. In the future, I’ll just get a pavlova to go!

I am pretty much addicted to their Turkey Panino. The dressing that comes on the side of field greens is fantastic, but the sandwich itself is probably the best sandwich I’ve had in years. I can’t get enough of it! Also, the service is great! Everyone has always been very friendly. The other day I called in a sandwich to go, and the guy behind the counter recognized my name(on uniform) and had my order waiting for me by the time I got to the register. I have not tried the desserts, but they all look amazing.

This is a pricey and trendy little place where the family stopped for breakfast one morning. Their breakfast menu is pretty limited but good enough. I had a ciabatta roll with cream cheese and home made raspberry jam — 6 bucks — a pretty hefty hit. Their fresh squeezed OJ is wonderful and their cappuccino was significantly better than Starbucks. We also splurged and bought a ridiculous number of pastries one of which I just tried and it was decadently delightful and rich. The service was pretty good and atmosphere is comfortably upscale without pretention.

Stopped in on a Sunday morning for a quick pastry run before a golf tournament at the Coronado Golf Course. First impression, nice ambiance with a decent display of pastries. Second impression, less than welcoming servers. Most other coffee shops have very friendly servers, so it was a little off putting. In terms of pastries, one of the servers recommended the scones so we ordered a blueberry lemon scone, a banana walnut scone, and a berry turnover. All 3 were not very good and COMPLETELY forgettable. The blueberry lemon scone was probably the best of the 3 and was just mediocre. The other 2 were bland, and the turnover even tasted a little stale. Pretty unacceptable for a coffee shop with their prices. Definitely would not return.

This review is only for the desserts. I found this place quite some time ago when visiting Coronado at night and heading for the park down at the water. We stopped off to pick up something sweet to eat while we viewed San Diego Harbor and Skyline. Now it has become a regular place for me and I don’t live anywhere near here. They are located right across the street from Centennial Park and regardless if I come here late at night, early evening or daytime I have always found parking less than a block away and you have to love Coronado metered parking. Twenty-five cents for an hour! You just can’t beat that. My most recent visit all I wanted was Crème Brulee, my favorite. I was going to just take it to-go as usual but they recommended that I sit down. I felt bad because I didn’t want to dirty up a table just for a single dessert, but I obliged them. I also went ahead and had an iced tea(black). Although I was just having a dessert, they treated me as if I were a party of four having dinner. The iced tea was brought out in a tall glass and very very cold indeed. Then they brought over the crème brûlée in a traditional bowl. The top had a beautiful caramelized layer with fresh berries atop. I used my spoon and broke through to find the top caramelized layer very thin. I can’t say how many places I’ve been to, «fine dining» restaurants, that serve crème brûlée with an unusually thick layer which is not at all the way crème brûlée is supposed to be. There is a nice outdoor patio area you can sit and have the full menu. They are located right on the corner so there’s quite a bit of foot traffic and people watching. Or just take your order across the street to the park and enjoy the stunning view of San Diego Harbor and Skyline. We have had many desserts here and they have all been amazing. But my favorite by far is the crème brûlée and would have to say it is the best crème brûlée I have had from anywhere. Their service is very good. Again, my server gave me first class service even though I was only having a dessert. I don’t live anywhere near Coronado but I’ll gladly drive out of my way to come here just for the desserts. I can only imagine with the quality put into the desserts that their food is equally good and someday I will try it! But if you want some of the best desserts you will find anywhere in San Diego, you need to come and give them a try.

This place is popular for its desserts. We came here for lunch. Food is not bad, dessert was good, service(at least our server) was pretty bad. We had the quiche with fruit($ 10.50), croque Monsieur($ 9.50), and ricotta pistachio tart($ 8). The quiche was good. The croque Monsieur was way too salty. The tart was very rich and it would have been better with a little more fruit but still good. I also had a pot of the green tropical tea($ 3.75). I thought it was going to be brewed tea but it was just a teapot with a tea bag. Service was not that great because our server was just so slow and inattentive. The food and ambiance warrants 4 stars but I was just so irritated with the server that I had to dock off a star. Cute stop for dessert if you are in the area. Lunch was ok but I don’t know how the other food is.

We came to Tartine on a recent Sunday afternoon. We were trying to miss the huge crowds watching football and found this cute little restaurant! My husband and I both ordered the Greek Salad. We were both impressed by how good this salad was! With plenty of fresh tomato, black olive, cucumber, and mixed greens with a wonderful vinaigrette dressing, this salad was great! What was equally surprising was just how great our son’s pizza was. It was positively yummy. Normally we wouldn’t find such a good pizza at a restaurant that isn’t known for it’s pizzas! What this place is known for is their dessert. My son and I stood in front of that case(full the prettiest desserts ever) for a while, just trying to decide! Finally, with the help of a thoughtful employee, we decided on the Chocolate Mousse. It was rich and delicious. After looking at their wonderful menu, we’ll have to come back and try a few favorites: Coconut Cream Cake, one of the Cheesecakes, Chocolate Tira Misu Torte, or that White Chocolate Pistachio Bavarian! I think we’ll have to try each on our next visit… yum! We had good service here too! We had lots of questions about the lunch menu and desserts, and our waitress was extremely patient. Drinks were refilled quickly, and she checked on us fairly often. It was nice to find a cute restaurant with such pleasant service. We also thought the patio was wonderful here too. When visiting Coronado, Tartine was a nice place for a great lunch and a really wonderful dessert. We will have to go back and try all of those other dessert options sometime really soon!
