We love the Howards BBQ in Flour Bluff. Had seen it but never stopped going to some of the other eateries around. Then our son mentioned it and we went in. Well, done deal!!! The biggest problem with going there is you want to go everyday! The food is awesome, the employees are so friendly! My husband eats a variety of meat, me, I, eat only turkey or chicken. So it is hard to find PERFECTLY cooked turkey. You will find it here. If you haven’t been, go, give it a try. Everyone is different, but this is my favorite eat out. Even over the fancy ones! The End.:)

I really enjoy Howard’s. The service is fantastic and always so friendly. I really appreciate how active Howard’s has been in our community as well. The BBQ is ok. There’s nothing spectacular about it. But, the sides/salad bar is really nice and has lots of options. The coleslaw is a favorite of mine. The place is always clean and the food is always fresh.

My last visit here was a sit-down-inside visit. Gave it a three as we felt the meat was a little bland and a little dry. I used the drive-thru this time and got basically the same meals we got last time. One thing that was a little off-putting is that you order AT the window. If you aren’t the only vehicle at the window, you actually have to wait to give your order then wait at the window. Maybe they come out and take orders, but I can’t speak to that based on experience. The food was better than last visit and the sides tasty as always. Potato salad was good, but the potato chunks were a LITTLE large IMO. But it was all tasty and will keep us coming. We’re glad that there’s a southside location. The downtown original isn’t convenient at all except when you’re already down there.

I like the atmosphere and the idea of the all you can eat sides. The only bad part is that the quality of the sides was not great.

I was pretty disappointed. The pork loin and turkey was pretty dry. I did enjoy the jalapeño cornbread. When they asked my son if he wanted sauce on his meat, he said«no sir» but the guy was already pouring it on. He didn’t want to make them remake it but the guy obviously wasn’t really paying attention. The sides were okay but nothing exciting.

The food here is pretty good, especially the coleslaw. I recommend however, if you order takeout, check your food before you leave. More than once I have received potato salad instead of coleslaw, Brisket instead of pork loin… Just to name a few examples. They know how to cook the food, but need to work on taking orders properly.

I had a good meal here. I had the three meat plate with brisket, sausage, pork ribs. Gonna skip the sausage next time. The brisket was excellent and the pork ribs were succulent and meaty. All the sides are on a Buffett line and you serve as much as you want, so no need to get more than 2 meat plate. The pinto beans were excellent. The rice was fluffy. I am gonna skip potato salad next time. The corn on Cob was good too. I will be back for more!

Fork tender moist brisket, side o rotisserie chicken, beans w bacon, tater salad, green salad, moist flavorful carrot cake and a large glass of iced tea… private recipe for the sauce… according to the owner, they slow roast all meat products for two days. All sides are cooked fresh daily, including the deserts, and tea is home brewed. If this is how the guy starts a new business, he is on a roll… speaking of rolls, homemade fresh corn bread, and slices of bread in case one prefers to tuck that little slice of heaven brisket in a blanket with some awesome sauce… just sayin… If you are in Flour Bluff this is a MUST

I met up with a friend one day on just taking a shot at something new. I am new to the area and have eaten at many bbq places throughout America and alot here in Texas. We both are very impressed with the flavor of the product. Both ordered the big po-boy with a tea. Can’t remember the name of the sandwich but the flavors are amazing. Service was great and the staff seemed happy. The atmosphere is great and tables are clean. I will return.

The absolute best pulled pork in town. All of the food there is outstanding. I suggest the«jimmy» and a sweet tea. BBQ sauce is great too. Thanks Howard’s for another great meal for my family. I will be using the catering service first chance I get!

I was pleasantly surprised with this place. I was in town for some training at NAS and I needed to grab some lunch. I came across this place and figured I would give it a shot. The special was a pulled pork sandwich and sides for 8.95. The sandwich was huge! I couldn’t get over it. The sides come from a buffet line and I found them to be very good. The choices ranged from baked beans, coleslaw, pasta salad, and corn bread, to a full salad bar. They didn’t seem to mind if you went up for seconds from the bar; at least they didn’t say anything when I did… The staff was friendly and they engaged in conversation and made me feel welcome in the establishment. Just good ol’ T exams charm. The one thing I did have negative to say was that I found some kind of a bug crawling across the floor around the order station. I don’t think it was a cockroach, but it was a resident of South Texas that is better outside, rather than in. I found the restaurant to be clean, so I am sure it was just a pest that came in from outside(I hope). I highly recommend this place. I will definitely go back and try out other fixings!

Price wise this place is around the same price as bill millers bbq. The food here was fresh and really good. At Howard’s BBQ it’s all you can eat sides. You Order the meat you want and then help your self to all you can eat beans, rice, potato salad, green beans, corn bread, apple coleslaw, garden salad, bread and drink. Like the other reviewer said the apple coleslaw is sweet and might put off some people but it was good. Staff was friendly. Will be going again today and will post some pics.

Food was cold, old and not worth the drive, the stop and your time. The food high for the junk they serve you. So if you want good bar-b-que this is not the place for you.

The brisket and pork ribs were waay too overcooked and there was no meat on the ribs. The potato salad and beans had no flavor at all. The coleslaw was too sweet. The only saving grace was the sausage. One of the meals was $ 13.00 and it was a complete waste of money because it was mostly uneaten. We won’t be going back.
