This is, I believe, the headquarters of the two-store business. It is on a main southbound arterial and close to the downtown core but the parking meters discourage all-day parking so in all my visits I have never had to park more than two spaces away from the front door. One quarter gives you thirty minutes, two hours max. There is a bathroom for customers. Note — to turn the light on you have to look for switches on the corridor wall OUTSIDE, to the right of the bathroom door. In general the clutter in the store is such that a browser must be able-bodied. By that I mean no walkers, and fair physical condition(up and down off one’s knees). Perhaps one fifth of the inventory is very difficult to scan, being on floor-level shelving which is moreover obscured by bookpiles in the aisle. In a few rooms the overhead lighting is obscured and illumination is inadequate. These people know books and how to use computers: book prices, particularly for rare items, will reflect the national going rates, i.e. I’d be surprised if I found a steal here. By and large good quality inventory, but very hard to characterize. Store was in process of reorganization during today’s visit. I don’t know the staff well. Nice customer base — noone has ever elbowed me or talked loudly on a cell phone. No obnoxious Muzak.

The best part about this store is that it looks like a disaster at first glance! There are books stacked in all the aisles and there’s tons of random nooks and rooms where books are jammed on shelves. If you like real books(not the digital kind), and have some time to browse, this is the place for you. I just wouldn’t suggest small children or strollers!

I was reluctant to go in here since it looked like a tornado had recently been through, but I was pleasantly surprised once I started browsing. They’ve got all sorts of old and new-ish books that you’d never find anywhere else. I found myself sitting on the floor flipping through pages of book after book. If you do find something you want to buy, the prices are pretty cheap too. I’ll certainly be back to see what new treasures await me.

This is my favorite bookstore :) Their prices are fantastic(usually $ 1 – 3) and the staff are very nice. At least in the science fiction section, their selection seems to change quickly so if they don’t have what you’re looking for one week, they might have it the next! I agree with Gabriel’s comment: on first glance it looks cluttered and disorganized, but isn’t that the great part of a used bookstore? Although I don’t live in Corvallis anymore, I still try to stop in whenever I’m in town. I haven’t found another used bookstore that can match their selection and price.

This place is a mess, but in a fun way if you’re really a book fiend. Prices are all over the place, but for the most part, very affordable. Just keep wandering around, because even rooms that look like storage or office areas will have piles of books for sale.
