First off the food is pretty good. That’s why I’m giving so many stars– also this place has a nice atmosphere and a big menu with lots of organic things(which I appreciate). The problem is I have been here a dozen or so times and probably over half of those times my order has been made incorrectly, or missing something. I’ve tried and tried to make it work but there are missteps that point to a staff that isn’t paying attention or doesn’t care. I wouldn’t mind that so much except that the prices are high. For example, I was served a vegan pancake with real butter on the side(in the wrapping so I knew it was real) — not offended or anything, just perplexed by that one. It left me wondering if i was really given a vegan pancake. Another time it took them over 40 minutes to serve me a pancake and fries, then they forgot to make half the order. Today I branched out and bought a panini. I asked for it to have no cheese and I should have specified I was vegan. Anyway, it came with butter all over it and when I asked them about it they said it was too late to do anything and that I should have said something first. Yes, it was my own fault for not specifying but I felt pretty frustrated that I spent $ 9.00 on a sandwich that ended up in the trash(no one in my home wanted to eat it). If there had been any sort of customer service in any of these experiences I would be able to give a better review, but so far it’s been dreadful.

I should have been paid to eat here considering that I had to bust my own table, I had to pour my own water, I had to get my own silverware and I had to go to the counter to order my food. No I am NOT part of lazy America, this is simply not how you should run a business unless your prices reflect the lack of survice. Sunnyside Up charges outrageous prices and expect you to do total self-service. Just to reiterate you set yourself, you water yourself and then you have to clean up after yourself all while paying outrageous five-star prices. The order that my husband and I made was completely switched and mixed up so we had to wait another 20 minutes for our food, when my brother had to get out of town. Also worth mentioning, my brother ordered a side of peanut butter that cost him $ 2! Who charges $ 2 for a 1 ounce container of crunchy peanut butter? Let’s be clear it was crunchy just like the crunchy people who work there. Also black coffee refills are 50 cents, not complimentary like every other flipping restaurant in the world. DONOTEATHERE! Even if you fancy yourself a «free spirit», it’s not worth the price tag. Oh and the food, not that tasty either.

Comfy place to hang out with friends. Each time I’ve visited it hasn’t been very busy and we had plenty of seating options to choose from. The tea selection is nice. I’ll admit the food isn’t great, and it can take a while to get it.

Terrible terrible service(or un-service). My family and I came here on a whim hungry for breakfast. It’s basically cafeteria style — where you order and pay at the counter, and have to get your own utensils, water, etc. However, you don’t know this until you sit down, AFTER you ordered and already gave them a 15−20% tip since you had to prepay & charge it on your credit card. To make matters worse, the wrong dish was served to us. One of us ordered something with salmon in it, and they put tomatoes in it instead! Good thing they were nice enough to give us the correct meal, on top of comping the wrong one. On the other hand, I actually liked what I ordered, which were the sliders. It came with fried egg, bacon, avocado, and cheese. It was about 30 minute wait for a seat, and another 1 hour wait for food once order is placed. Good thing the«communal» table was available because that was first come first serve, and we ended up sitting there. To sum it up — the food is not worth the wait.

What a disappointment! The gravy in my vegetarian biscuits and gravy was basically a roux with some non-dairy milk, no seasoning, and some crumbled tofu. It was bland on bland for $ 13. Truly, the prices here are astounding given the poor quality of the recipes and the fact that there is no table service. My partner’s tofu scramble appeared to have no seasoning either, but at least his dish was just under $ 10. The only reason I would ever come back here is if I wanted to entertain some kids while drinking mediocre coffee. They did have a nice toy set up in one room, plus the general décor of the place already has the feel of a children’s museum(colorful rounded paint details don’t scream sophistication.

I hadn’t been inside this restaurant in at least 7 – 8 years. A friend asked me to join her for breakfast and I suggested SSU, as I knew Broken Yolk would be crazy busy. The fact that we have to order at the front counter, off of a detailed menu, was weird. We asked if we could take our menus to a table to look them over. I had the omelette with mushrooms, roasted red peppers, and bacon. My friend had just the simple 2 eggs, toast, and potatoes. My omelette was pretty, but cold. The roasted peppers inside were the kind from a jar and were not warm(probably out of the fridge.) My friend’s potatoes were cold, too. I guess the one thing that bothers me about this place is the fact that one is pressured, in a sense, to leave a tip. The way you pay is via electronic card reader. You are asked to choose an option for tipping and you’re on the spot, as the counter gal is standing there watching. I opted for no tip, as she just stands behind the counter, doesn’t take our order(we come to her) and seems to assume we owe her something. We bus our own tables, pick up after ourselves, and refill our own waters. Just an odd feel to the place, too, with people lurking about with their laptops, using the free wifi but not really doing much else. The initial opening of this place many years ago was exciting, as it was«the new joint» for breakfast. However, looking at the walls, it appears they haven’t been cleaned since opening in the 90s. Dusty and covered with spider webs! Yuck! My friend couldn’t take her eyes off of the mess. Because staff don’t clear the tables, ours was sticky upon first sitting down. I wonder how many people ate on this table that very morning before we arrived?

On a positive note, they have a great tea selection. Aside from that, I can’t recommend anything about this place, except perhaps the potential. But don’t we all have untapped potential? Doesn’t mean we should ever expect it to surface. I’ve been here before, so I am not sure why we brought friends here for breakfast. Because, on a Sunday, it was the only place without a line? That should be a clear message, but we’ve already established I can be a bit slow. Cashier was friendly. Service was slow. Order was not correct. Food was cold. Food did not taste good. Incorrect order was returned, and they didn’t actually say anything constructive, like ‘I’m sorry’ or ‘I’ll fix that’ or anything. They were apparently out of salsa for the huevos rancheros. About 20 minutes after our order was placed, someone came out and informed us of the shortage. They asked if we wanted to change our order(20 minutes after we placed it) or just have the meal without salsa. We took it without salsa. Not sure salsa would have improved it any. We sat there for another 40 minutes, and during that time heard the staff come out and give the same salsa spiel to at least 2 other tables. Makes me wonder why they didn’t just tell the people when they placed their order at the counter. WHY wouldn’t they do that? I heard the same conversation when we were walking out the door. WTF. It’s not performance art, it’s a restaurant AND a business… so step it up, Sunnyside. Ordered biscuits and gravy. Gravy was horrible. Looks like they make it with water instead of milk. Looks like a lot of things — none of them good. Food was cold. Eggs were cooked incorrectly, even though the cashier repeated it back to make sure she got it right. Returned the eggs, and 20 minutes later still didn’t have them back at the table. Told them not to bother, as my cold gravy was even colder. Sad. To top it off, some lovely child was banging on a toy xylophone most of the time. Fitting. We won’t be back. Even for tea.

For two very easy dishes, oj, and a latte I paid $ 34 including tip. My plate was super easy and wished I made it myself at home. It also was way too small for the price and the potatoes were inedible. My girl liked her French toast tho so that’s why they get the second star. Basically I’m broke and still hungry. Don’t recommend.

The service here was great but the food was gross. I had three items. A cappuccino, a gluten free chocolate chip cookie, and the Eggs Parisian or something line that. The cappuccino was excellent, the cookie was good but I found a white hair baked into it and the eggs were brown, missing the cheese and about a third of the size you would expect for $ 10. It was like one brown scrambled egg. The fruit that came with it was tiny and had a big, moldy grape in the middle.

Stay away!!! I was surprised how this place is still on business. I asked for hummus to substitute for their herb seasoning(on non dairy diet for breastfeeding), they will charge you extra, though I asked no cheese. If you want to change anything on a menu, they will charge you extra even for the bread selections! The food was okay, nothing good or bad! For over $ 9 for a breakfast wrap, it is not worth of it at all. They have a playground area for kids but do not think anyone ever cleans or sanitizes the toys. The bathroom was dirty and messy!!! It’s quite a scary and disappointing experience!!! Thumbs down(with two hands) !!!

The best review I have read on here about Sunnyside Up is that it should be called Sunnyside Down and I agree 100%! There really is absolutely nothing«sunny» about this place. A group of my friends and I came here and had the WORST service I have ever experienced. My friend and I decided to share the regular stack of blueberry pancakes which, at the time, costed $ 12.50. At first we thought, wow this must be a large set of pancakes if it costs nearly $ 13! So we decided to split the cost and share this order. There was about 10 people in our party so of course it was reasonable for us to expect them to take longer on our orders. However, there was NOONE else in the restaurant but us and another smaller party. It was almost empty. As we waited for our food, an HOUR went by. so we took a peek into the kitchen through the open window and saw the chefs CLEANING… not making any food whatsoever. So I got up to one of the chefs, told them we had been waiting for an hour and that we would like to have our food brought to us once it is made. They confirmed our order number which they had previously known about and then tell me, «oh yeah we are gonna start that soon» after we had already been waiting for an hour! We then go to the front counter to complain about our orders and they reassure us that it will be «coming out shortly». Then, they tried to bribe us with some free pastries. Keep in mind, the café is nearly empty, not a single bit busy with other customers. After another half an hour, our orders finally started to arrive. And the $ 13 «stack» of pancakes my friend and I had split turned out to be the size of my palm! It was even served with a small stick of cold butter, not a single bit of effort was put into making these pancakes look somewhat fancy. To make matters worse, another person in my party was not satisfied with the way her waffle turned out in comparison to another waffle order in our party so she called our waitress over and asked for a new one. The waitress then stood there and tried to ARGUE with her about how her waffle was exactly the same as the other waffle and how it was perfectly fine! Absolutely ridiculous! What ever happened to «the customer is always right?!» She then, very snobbishly, took her waffle back to the kitchen without saying a single word. She did not even apologize for the poor quality of the waffle! As I was also not satisfied with the size and quality of our pancakes, considering we had paid nearly $ 13 for them, I went to the front counter and asked for a refund. They then told me that that could not be done because they«had already closed the cash register», so the chef said he would make us another batch with larger pancakes. When our rude waitress came back with the larger pancakes she literally slammed them onto the table right in front of us. We were completely speechless! The rest of my party turned around and looked at her in shock as she walked away and a couple of them told me they saw her ROLL her eyes! «Sunnyside Up» is the most terrible breakfast/brunch place in Corvallis. If you are looking for a great breakfast place in this area go to Les Caves or Broken Yolk.

I was a little concerned about trying this place… When we first walked in there were multiple signs that basically said«order at register» and«bus your own table»… Which would be okay, but the place wasn’t set up for it. The girl at the register was impatient while we flipped through the menus at the register to order. Seemed weird for a place that’s not«fast food», it was kinda high pressured for a sit down restaurant. I ordered coffee and she handed me an empty mug, but I didn’t see where the coffee was, so I asked and she impatiently pointed around a corner. The coffee was cold, like the pot had been sitting out for hours. The good news is the food was good. Which at this point I was really surprised by, after such a cheap setup and lazy service.

An infuriating dining experience. Hour and a half wait for our food with approx. 10 other people in the restaurant. All I can say is, there’s a reason why there’s an hour wait outside of broken yolk across the street. 10⁄10 would not recommend.

1 hour wait for breakfast. Don’t go here unless you have a couple hours to spare. Not even that crowded on a Sunday morning at 9 am and it took an hour for food

It’s not the ‘90s anymore, but sometimes I want it to be. Sometimes, I’m also in Corvallis, Oregon, eagerly awaiting my first chance to see Natalie Achonwa in person. What does one do? One goes to Sunnyside Up. Since I just dropped a bunch of Notre Dame boohoo – or should I say Domer swizzle? – I’ll see your Sunnyside Up in December 2013 and raise you a Lula’s Café circa November 2001. Is it rainy? Check! Is it delicious and homey and full of not-quite-primary colors that it was very popular to paint individual walls in 1996? Check! Is the service slower than it needs to be but also strangely endearing, like your friend’s girlfriend with the extremely lopsided smile and the mother who is always trying to set her daughter’s boyfriend’s friends up with her way-too-old spinster nieces? Check! Check, check, check. All in a line. So what did Natalie do? She showed up in warm-ups, but I was scared because she had been hurt, and I didn’t recognize her right away and thought maybe she hadn’t made the trip. But I was just trippin’ because she looks way shorter in a basketball arena because six-three really isn’t that tall from far off. Relatively or otherwise. Sunnyside Up filled my belly before Notre Dame women’s basketball lifted my soul. Was driving 1,840 miles round-trip for a single non-conference women’s basketball game in late December worth it? Absolutely. I’d do it again, except this year they’re playing at UCLA. The commitment won’t be as great, but love is love is love. Thank you, Sunnyside Up, for giving me something delicious to chew on.

Ditzy waitress lost our fucking order. We waited there for over an hour, as our waitress passed us, delivering people their food(many of them had arrived after us). Ended up leaving, and by then it was lunchtime. Horrible, horrible, horrible.

Quite possibly the slowest, most inefficiently restaurant(and I’m using that term very loosely) I’ve ever encountered. It truly baffled our party to sit, and sit, and sit, and sit for an hour and ten minutes for two breakfasts of eggs, potatoes and toast plus a bagel and cream cheese. No, just no.

Waitress was super nice. Coffee is pretty solid. Definitely some high quality product. Refills are a suggested $.50 which seems reasonable but free refills are the best. We ordered and after about 20 mins the waitress apologized for the long wait and brought us free coffee cake. That alone puts this above the rest. Bummer part though. We arrived a little before noon on a Saturday and they were OUT of eggs Benedict. That’s my favorite thing so minus points for that. I ended up getting the bananas foster French toast which I would eat again. The two people I was with ordered the huevos rancheros and weren’t impressed. I wound stay away from that.
