I have been going to this place for 2 years when it was actually tasty! I went today 6÷25÷2016 and paid twice the price for three items and the food is twice as bad. Al the owner is rude and when I mentioned this to him he just hung up on me. NEVERGOINGBACK! there is some really good Chinese food in Orange County, his restaurant is not one of them!

This place is the best Chinese food ever! I love the Special Gai Kow chicken, pork fried rice and we never leave without a side order of pan-fried noodles. We have brought so many people to this tiny little gem, you will never be disappointed.

In the year 1500 B.C., a lovely lady by the name of Ma-Thu Al brought into this world a young boy who would turn out to be a culinary sensation for not only her small residential province of Shandong, China but the ENTIRE world. His name was AL. Since the day he took his first steps at the prime age of 3, Al was in the kitchen cooking up the meanest Egg Foo Young that you could ever imagine. He was a prodigy in the kitchen, and the locals would call him«the Father of MSG». When Al turned 16, the great General Tso(you might recognize his famous dish, General Tso’s chicken) presented him with a 55 acre palace complete with a massive kitchen fit for the work of 100 men. For 22 hours a day Al served delicious meals to hungry travelers, ravished soldiers, and beautiful mothers out of his luxurious palace. Some of the greatest Chinese philosophers have written novels about the savor you could taste in his beef pepper steak, sweet & sour pork, and moo goo gai pan. Fast forward to today, Al’s legacy can be found in SoCal’s very own city of Costa Mesa. With an average of 3.5 stars from 211 Unilocal reviews, it is obvious that Al is still the most revered oriental chef around. A wise man with questionable decisions named R. Kelly once said, «My mind’s telling me noooo, but my boooodyy, my boooody’s telling me yesssssss.» Yes, R. Kelly was in fact talking about drowning himself in MSG at Al Palace. MSG = manly source of gainz

I have been coming here for over 10 years. This place is amazing, great staff amazing food. Only downside is it gets busy, other then that it’s a must eat at if you are in Costa Mesa. Spicy chicken full of flavor and very fresh.

The food is really good but the waiters are the worst! You can’t ask for anything because they get upset. They have attitude and make you feel a bit uncomfortable. But the food is delicious so I mean if you don’t mind rude people totally recommend it!

My first visit and probably last. It isn’t because I’m dissatisfied. It bugged me that their rice plates don’t come with soup. Haha yeah the first Chinese restaurant that I’ve been to where there’s is no soup included; that’s for a price range over $ 10. The service was very pleasant. The man respects his customers, very proper. My bad I didn’t bother ask his name. I had observed, there was a customer that walked in to pick up ‘a usual’. The exchange of manners between them reminded me of small neighborhood type friendliness. It’s very clean and almost fancy inside. Traditional art on walls, and lanterns hanging from ceilings. I will say it can be a good place for group lunches. They’d have to pull tables together, they do have the space for it. I found it cool that there is a peeping window from the kitchen to look out to the dining area or entry. Anywhobees, I want to rave about their garlic chicken rice plate! In my case it was buckets, since I ordered to go. Rice was separated. This dish had boasting garlic flavor with generous amounts of chicken pieces, and loaded with veggies: onions, green onions, mushrooms, broccoli, snow peas, bamboo shoots. If they could add one more thing, I’d vote for chestnuts to add a little crunchy texture. The bucket for the garlic chicken I’d say is a large. It could feed at least 2. And if prepared onto a serving plate, I’d say it’s about the amount you’d get when ordering family style. I waited for my order. Cooked fresh, so it was hot! I had to suck in air to cool the chicken down, cuz I didn’t blow off the steam enough. That happened even later while in the car already. The food was still that hot 10 minutes or so later. I’ll give this place yay points for quality.

It just dawned on me how many YEARS myself and family have gone here, or picked up to take home. It may be a small restaurant, but that being small makes up big in other ways. Like quality. Taste, and price! Anytime I call in, no matter what phone I use, the owner remembers me, and always thanks me by name. Lil things mean a lot, and I can appreciate the attention to detail.

This is the quintessential«greasy Chinese» food that you want but are afraid to admit that you love to the health-conscious masses of Orange County. I’ve been going here for over 20 years, and it never disappoints… crispy egg rolls, shrimp with lobster sauce, Wor Won Ton soup… everything is delicious. Prices are great. Portions are huge. They even close out the meal with both an almond & fortune cookie. Yes, it’s small. Yes, the décor is minimal. Yes, it’s crowded… You don’t go for the décor. YOUGOFORTHEFOOD!

This review is based off of one experience at this restaurant. I relocated to Orange County from New Jersey 10 years ago, from coast to coast this is the most unimpressive Chinese food restaurant I have ever eaten from. Egg Rolls — Dry, wrap was far too crisp, almost brittle Soup — Bland, almost tasteless 3 ordered main dishes — very unappetizing. So unappetizing that after dining in, we left the leftovers on the table. We did not want to take them with us. Again, this review is based off of my lone experience at this place. Based on this experience, I will never eat at this restaurant again.

We have been coming to this little gem for about 15 years and the food is consistently Outstanding. The best Hot and Sour Soup ever. Amazingly fresh and tasty and made to order cuisine. Lunch specials are generous portions and very affordable but be prepared there is usually a line out the door. They are fast and worth the wait. The picture is a shrimp and vegetable noodle soup. My personal comfort food. Nothing in the area compares to this place for outstanding food quality. The only reason i waited to write a review is because I don’t want them to get even more busy. Infinite accolades

We’re new here in the area and was checking out if we can find a decent Chinese restaurant. The good reviews convinced us to try this place. Well, we ordered Pork Egg Fu Young and Chicken Chow Mein lunch special. The Egg Fu Young was missing the pork and the sauce was basically cornstarch and water with brown coloring. Both dishes had zero taste, the eggroll came with ketchup and mustard, there is an adder for sweet and sour sauce. The Chicken Chow Mein was coated with oil, I guess that’s the sauce. Go somewhere else if you like good Chinese food. Eat here if you don’t know any better.

We counted up the number of years my best friend and I have been coming here today– 34years! I live in Alaska but never ever miss a chance to eat here at least twice a year when I am in the state. We decided it’s time to write a review to share our big secret– amazing place. We were turned on to the restaurant as high school kids tagging along with my friends mom who immigrated from mainland China and knew what she was looking for in great food. Why? It’s a fantastic family run Chinese food restaurant! There is not a bad item on the menu. We usually get the wor wonton soup(expect lots of vegetables and delicious broth filled with LOTS of goodies) cashew nuts chicken, broccoli beef, shrimp with lobster sauce. Each of the main dishes are PLENTIFUL! Also, where else have you been where the egg rolls are homemade??? This is the real deal! Expect to bring home a bunch for at least one other meal. This makes the already incredibly low prices EVEN lower. Service may come across abrupt at first, because they are moving so fast to serve many just right. But hang around a year or two and they’ll warm up and you’ll soon be friends, hugging you when you walk out the door and asking about your kids. Super kind, efficient and sincere people. Just the type of place you want to fill your soul with great food and conversation. Don’t pass up going to this restaurant. It’s small, and fills up inside, but they are fast and it’s California, so eat at the outside tables and live it up!

I get lunch from here on occasion since I work close by. Seriously the amount of food you get for lunch could feed three people easily! I usually order online and it’s ready when I get there. Here’s a tip… if you order a lunch special have them package the egg roll separately from your food. That way it doesn’t get all soggy in there!
