Stop in here to take a break from shopping and pick up a midday snack. We ordered the oatmeal raisin cookie and croissant. The cookie was thick and cakey but stale. The croissant wasn’t flaky nor fresh. The bf didn’t mind it since he just liked the butter taste. Um nah… sorry boo. But Costco makes better buttered croissants and way cheaper. I wasn’t expecting quality from a restaurant at the mall but this was overpriced for its worth and there are better French bakeries at South Coast.

The service was awesome the place was different. When I entered I had to look around first to know what I wanted then go order. Has a narrow passage just to see what they have and what I wanted, since it was the first time I have tried this place, I didn’t know what I wanted. But other then that the pastries are good.

So sad this place, my hubby and I wanted to try this French bakery for a long time and finally got time to do so. We ordered the Croque Monsieur which we serve at home a lot, a staple food in Europe where I am from. It was such a disaster, the bottom bread was soggy, it was overly cheesy and greasy without any flavor to it. It literary sat on my stomach until the evening and I just kept burping up this food for several hours. It is a descries for the French to have this place called a French Bakery as in France we would never eat such junk. Service was pretty fast, what others complain about, but then again there was little crowd on this Saturday noon we went. Also, we ordered a coffee and water, and we received only a cup for coffee. No water cup was given. After we finished, nobody ever came by to ask how the food was, although some waiter roamed around the empty tables, but never approached any customer. guess they do not want to know how bad the food really is. It’s truly a shame that this type of place exists in South Coast Plaza.

Always a pleasure to dine here for lunch. Atmosphere is pleasant and music is relaxing. I always order the French Dip($ 9.89) because it’s so delicious. The strawberry white chocolate mousse($ 5.45) is also a must.

I went to the the small place on the other side of the mall to get a quarter sheet cake. I have a very small time window to get he cake and go to my destination. I was informed that they don’t have anything at the small place by Macys and that this location will have this cake. The sales associate actually went out of his way and called this place to confirm that they have the flavor and size of cake that I wanted at this location given how short my time was. The sales associate from this place confirmed that they have it and I came over to pick it up. When I got over here, the supervisor informed me that they don’t actually have it physically but that it needs to be ordered 24 hrs in advance. He continued on wasting my time calling the other store, while leaving me outside waiting for over 20 mins. Such a waste of time and energy!

I love the Champagne’s on Bison Ave in Irvine. Unfortunately this location in SCP is always a disappointment. The staff is so slow, the food choices not as good and the last time I cam for lunch, with no other person ordering food, I waited and waited for my sandwich– only to come back 15 minutes as all the staff was in the back talking– when I asked about my order– they simply forgot. I will not be back to this location as it is a waste of time unless you have nothing better to do but sit here, sip your beverage and watch folks walking by.

Was here earlier today, my tea and food did not come up right. My tea had a bad after taste and I only received less than half of panini which came up super soggy. I couldn’t eat it, a huge let down, the quality has gone down and I feel ripped off.

My soy latte came out pretty quick. Yay for making a quick latte. The other stuff though… It took about 30 minutes for our food to come out. I mean if it was a regular restaurant, I’d understand, but this was the kinda café you pay and then wait for your food. You made me pay already, Champagne. When our food finally did come out… It was really bad. Really bad for $ 20USD+ including the 20% off coupon I had. The food was cold.(Well, no wonder really it had been 30 minutes.) The bacon on our dishes were not cooked the same, his was brittle and falling apart and mine was OK. My egg and potatoes were cold. My eggs were not poached the same amount of time because one was nearly finished cooking inside and the other was runny like crazy. I am just so disappointed in this place. It had a really sweet looking display of desserts… But the food… Just horrible. We thought it was busy outside with all those people sitting on the patio, but turns out they were just waiting for their food. Service was great, food was very poor.

This is a great spot for a bistro-style lunch at Crystal Court(do they call it something different now??). I LOVE their combo with the Turkey Sandwich and Parisian Salad. I’ve been there several times, and it is always good! And I think it is really reasonably priced. My son ordered his first Croque Monsieur and he really enjoyed it. They are a little slow, and the bussing of the tables is definitely an issue. They need more bussers, and probably more room. All in all, a great spot for a quick lunch or brunch!

Service, food and atmosphere is great! Stopped in for lunch a couple of times and tried the Chicken Florentine crepes(didn’t love that because I don’t like cream sauces and it was a bit bland) but the Parisian salad and quiches are amazing! Pastries look so good too, so I will be sure to try them next time. Seasonal drinks are great as well — wish they had the hibiscus lemonade all the time!

The food is amazing, and the service was very kind. The draw back is the wait. It took 20 minutes to get my Togo order(half salad and half soup). I was in a rush to get back to work, since the food took longer then I had anticipated, so I grabbed the bag a left. Once I got to work I realized I had salad, no soup. That’s a long wait for only half my order!

I ordered to sit outside to enjoy the sunshine. I sat admits the first tables and waited patiently for my food. I’m writing this now as I STILL wait for my food! It’s been 45 minutes!!! How long does it take to put chicken salad on a croissant and slop some potato salad on the side? Normally I’m pretty patient but three people that came in after me have eaten left already.

This is my second time at this particular location and both times the customer service experience was absolutely incredible!!! Sky(a female employee) is truly a gem! She is warm, friendly and VERY helpful. She listens carefully and makes sure not only your food is prepared well(and as you requested), but she also goes above and beyond to make sure you have everything need. I’ve always felt the experience of a place is far more valuable than what ever it is you are getting i.e. services, food, etc. Obviously here its food and their food is delicious to! Highly recommend this spot for all interested!

Had to wait 30 minutes for order due to their system deleting it. Was told that they will refund the charge to credit card. The charge was never refunded and they claim that the«service» was received. I wish there was a Starbucks over there instead, you could get real«service» at least!

Aside from my spinach and goat cheese quiche being cold, I’m pretty sure I found a hair in my cappuccino chocolate cake. So I think I’ll just continue going to Vie de France for a quick bite when I come to the mall.

I asked for a lemon cookie, and Jesuit and she said«what about it?» Umm… Ill take one please. Then I asked for a fresh brewed coffee and I got looked at like I was crazy and was then told in a snotty attitude«eh, this sOo isn’t Starbucks.» I replied«Do you not have ‘fresh brewed coffee’? I’ll take one of those please.» I then asked for a green tea and asked if it was tropical, she said in the same tone«Um I don’t know. It’s just green tea.» So the folks by the elevator(before the bridge) are great, however, the main restaurant, seriously disappointed me and ruined my experience. Wow…

this is a good spot for a casual meal. in the mornings i like the egg bacon and cheese croissant. it’s a pretty generous portion and comes with a side of fresh fruit — actual good chunks of fruit not the remnants of fruit like at other places. the bacon is thick and crispy. the cheddar is super good. today i had half a spinach quiche and cup of onion soup. the half quiche was a nice portion as well and the goat cheese was tasty. but the french onion soup was a little bit of a let down. i kept searching for spoonfuls of onion and instead got mouthfuls of cheese. it didnt taste like gruyère either — more like mozzarella. and the baguette on top was soggy all the way through instead of having a nice toast on top. so i polished off the quiche and left the cheese soup on the table. i prefer pandor bakery but we were already at crystal court and i didnt want to drive. the meal was fine though.

Where to start… I always have an open mind when trying a new place and try to be pretty optimistic but there really was nothing good about my experience here. This bakery and café is located in a pretty convenient location right outside Tiffany’s with tons of nice patio seating. It was a great day out so we were looking to have a nice and what I thought would be a fairly quick meal. You order first and then seat yourself outside. It wasn’t really too busy for a Sunday afternoon at South Coast so it was easy to find a table. We got the eggs benedict and garlic chicken panini. It took 35 minutes to just get out food and when it came it was pretty disappointing. The food seemed like it was made across the street at the crystal court location and brought over(which would at least explain the wait). The eggs benedict came with roasted potatoes and they were extremely bland and didn’t have a good texture to them as if they had be sitting out. The eggs were poorly poached and overcooked too. The baguette for panini was soggy and didn’t have that nice crisp to the outside with a soft interior that you would expect. If I had to come back I definitely wouldn’t come to this location as the service was slow and food did not seem fresh. Maybe the pastries and ready made items are the way to go if you want something from Champagne’s.

This place is great just like every one said. Sunset under the bridge with your favorite food and significant other is just great here. BUT if you come on Sunday mid afternoon. 1. One worker only and the line is damn long 2. No one cleans up the tables AND you have to help yourself. They charge different prices for different sizes of coffee but you could refill. Well. Otherwise, enjoy the ambience !

Champagne was nowhere to be found, but then again, great taste was also missing. Ugh… a real disappointment and I can get the same thing, just about anywhere, for better prices, superior quality and taste. Sadly, nothing was pretty good or up. French Onion soup, barely decent-edible. Tuna salad sandwich on multigrain baguette, boring, too dry, very, very little tuna and my whole sandwich consisted of bread, and for a bakery, it should have been a far better tasting baguette. The side of potato salad was clearly fresh, but how about giving me some?! Tiny portion and I didn’t personally like the Dijon used in it, but others may. Sunday brunch and they were out of quiche, but failed to mention it to my daughter till we were seated and waiting for food, hence putting eating off even further. She finally ended up with a Croque Monsieur, and I guess it was fine but she really didn’t say much, whereas I know she’s commented about the warmth and yumminess of this specialty sandwich at other French specialty bakeries. I’ll stick with Corner Bakery, or Le Pain Quotdien or Pacific Whey, or heck just about anywhere else.

Little great place on your way to the second building of the mall by the escalators outside. It does have that outside feel, and the inside looks even better. Came here to rest and get a snack. Macarons here were $ 2 a piece and that’s pretty good deal. The better part was that the macarons were delicious! I got the raspberry and vanilla one. Sat there a bit and relaxed. Then continued on to shop some more. Definitely recommend.

Friendly staff but the food left much to be desired. I found this bakery alluring on a recent trip around Costa Mesa; I was drawn into the place with their fresh pastries displayed in the glass case, outdoor patio seating, and Parisian vibe. The staff greeted me immediately as I walked in and was patient while I looked over the menu and peered at the desserts. I had my eye on an orange blossom macaron but wanted to try the breakfast croissant sandwich after reading through the ingredients. The wait was only about 10 minutes for the croissant — the perfect amount of time for me to try the macaron. After taking a bite of it however, I found the pastry too sweet and dry. At $ 2.00 a macaron, it wasn’t worth another one. The croissant sandwich was a step up in the right direction in terms of flavor, but was soggy overall. I did enjoy the egg white though! A very cool atmosphere, but I wish the food was more on par with it.

After a shopping trip I stopped for a bowl of soup. I stood waiting at the counter to order while 5 servers were chatting. After 5 minutes I asked if someone would take my order. The«manager» in a very surly tone said«what do you want?» I ordered and waiting for the onion soup to be brought to the table. When the server came the soup was spilled all over the baguette and on the plate. He said he got bumped bringing the order to me. I asked if he could bring it back on a clean plate. He returned with the same now half empty bowl of soup, soggy baguette, and wet silver/napkin. The nice crusty cheese abs bread top of the soup was missing. What a disappointment. With a manager who seems to care very little I guess I should expect the same of his staff. I won’t return.

I’m torn between 3 and 4 stars. Last 2 times I’ve gone, the food has come out differently. I got a bowl of soup and half a salad, their French onion soup is perfect. The salad was mixed greens with croutons and tomato with a nice dressing. Yesterday I got the French dip sandwich with half a salad. The salad was just lettuce, no tomato or croutons. What gives? That’s not a salad. The French dip was just ok. I enjoyed the caramelized onion but there wasn’t a whole lot of meat. They do put a spread of horseradish on it which is great, most places don’t include horseradish which is needed. Their half quiche is also very tasty. I had the goat cheese and spinach. It’s fluffy and piping hot. But be prepared to eat with birds. They take awhile to bus tables, which means birds on the tables eating bread scraps. Check your chairs before you sit. Sometimes they have poop on them.

I have no idea why it takes 15 minutes to bring out a sandwich and a bowl of soup that just needs to be out in a bowl. Way too long. Also, thanks for the dirty, food encrusted soup spoon.

A satisfactory meal in a relaxed atmosphere. For lunch, I tried the soup and sandwich combo. My order was the chicken salad on half of a croissant and a bowl of the corn chowder. We paid at the register, took a number and found a table. There are indoor and outdoor seats. Not too long afterward, our meals were brought to us. I thought the chicken salad was decent, but not spectacular. It included lettuce and tomato and the chicken to mayonnaise ratio was good. The soft croissant was all right but not praiseworthy. I would try another sandwich for my next visit. The corn chowder had plenty of corn in it, but the soup was too salty for my taste. I think the French Onion soup would have been a better bet. I tried a bit of my husband’s and it was superior to the chowder. I liked the ambiance of the restaurant. Mellow music was playing and the noise level was not loud. This is a good place for a break.
