There are many things to say about this restaurant, and most of them are good things. The pork burrito was great, I loved the sweet taste of the grilled pineapple inside the burrito, even though at first I was a little unsure how this would taste, but it was a winner. The pineapple and pork taste together was something I would love to try again, as the sweet went well with the salty pork. The rice was very good as were the chips and salsa, I really liked the green salsa, but the red was no slouch either. The service was pretty good overall, except when we asked for more napkins, we had to do twice, and when they brought them out, they brought 3 napkins for 3 people, as if we three were dipping into the personal napkin stash of the waiter. The music was a bit to loud, for a restaurant setting, even though we were sitting outside, and I felt that it could have been a little softer, so we could have talked a little easier. The outside ambiance was great, as the view was great and if the temperature is great, I would suggest to sit outside.

Sadly to say with all the hype and anticipation of this new restaurant, It did NOT live up to what it looks like it should. Every encounter from being seated to trying to pay the bill was absolutely horrible. I read the bad reviews but thought I should give it a try anyway. I realized that after encountering exactly what all the«bad reviews» said, I surely made a mistake and wasted my money. No need to continue writing at this point. Don’t go!

My girlfriends and I go to brunch at least one Sunday a month, and are always looking for new places to try out. The owners of Sutra bought this place, and are now doing a Sunday brunch/day party thing. We thought it might be fun so we decided to give it a shot. They sell tables and bottles, so we made a reservation for around 1130. When we arrived there were only a few people there and they seemed like they were just setting up. A hostess seated us quickly and we were given menus. The place itself is nice. It has a huge outdoor patio and a nice open and airy inside area. Aside from the nice layout and décor, our experience was not great. Our waiter was a younger guy who seemed very confused about everything. Maybe he was new, I don’t know. Anyway, we decided to order a nice bottle of champagne to start and some entrees. Turns out they did not have everything on the menu available, even though they were presenting it to people. We ran into this problem with both food and drinks. The poor waiter was always returning saying«Sorry we don’t have that today» If your not going to offer your full menu, stop presenting it to people. Make a special menu for the occasion to avoid wasting time and confusing people. We finally got our orders in and our food came out pretty quickly. Two of my friends got the enchiladas, another friend had a taco platter, and two of us had the huevos a la mexicana. The huevos a la mexicana were good, the tacos were decent, but the enchiladas were not the best. They lacked flavor and were very dry. We took our time eating, and ended up ordering another bottle of champagne and a few drinks along the way. When our plates were cleared our server immediately brought the bill over. We had not asked to close out our tab, and still planned to relax and finish our drinks. We found this odd, as he had never asked if we were finished. We decided to close out anyhow, not thinking it would be a problem. About 5 minutes after closing our tab, a younger guy who appeared to be some variation of a manager, came to our table and told us he needed to sell the table to someone else? Excuse me? He actually was pushing us to hurry and leave. Not only had we just bought another bottle from them, but we had bought a previous bottle, everyone had a meal, and we had bought other drinks as well. We were not exactly sitting there milking a 5.00 beer. As someone who buys tables/bottles frequently, and has worked in the club and restaurant industry, I have never had someone ask our table to hurry so they can sell it to someone else, and I have never pushed a table that was still enjoying themselves to leave. I thought this was a really bad way to treat paying customers. We ended up politely letting him know what we thought of his request and left. My friends and I will not be returning. Hopefully the new owner can pull it together and provided better training and standards for his employees.

This place looks awesome. But it’s not. We went here because all of the other restaurants in Triangle Square(like Saddle Ranch, Yardhouse) had an hour and a half wait. We were hungry, so Mexican food sounded just fine. El Corazon seated us right away with no wait, which should have been a red flag. The outside seating area looked like a really nice place to hang out with friends. But we were sat inside because it had no wait. The inside was smaller than I expected, but whatever. Anyway, we sat down and read the menu, and the waiter helped us choose our food. He highly recommended the Camaron al Mojo de Ajo, which sounded really great on the menu; tasty jumbo shrimp. It costed $ 23 alone, so I had really high expectations. I also ordered a bowl of tortilla soup. Well, this place gets their one star for their chips and salsa. We blew through about 3 refills. The jumbo shrimp dish was extremely disappointing. The shrimp were NOT jumbo at all; they were actually smaller than what I normally see. To be fair, they tasted pretty good, but there were probably about 5 shrimps in the whole dish. The rest of the dish was just filler, which again, tasted alright, but the portion was tiny. I feel like the dude tricked us into buying the most expensive plate on the menu. The tortilla soup tasted like tomato purée from a can that was watered down. I’d take Yardhouse’s tortilla soup(yum) over it any day. Overall: We should’ve stuck with the free chips and salsa and a drink. This was probably the biggest waste of money I’ve spent on food in a long time.

Well the only reason I came here was because the restaurant looked cool on the outside. I don’t really see anything on the menu for around $ 10 or less, so I thought this place was going to serve gourmet style Mexican food and was going to be something special being priced at $ 12 – 14 for a burrito. Before ordering the Carne Asada burrito, I asked the guy what kind of steak they use since this was a $ 14 burrito so I thought this not your average burrito. He had no idea thinking all steak is the same, showing no pride in the food like deep down inside they know the food sucks and is overpriced. And this burrito was on no level a gourmet burrito I thought I was ordering. Nor was it huge that you could take left overs home. The presentation was nothing special and could easily be a burrito that is served at an airport food court on plastic plates. Plus they forgot the guacamole which was the reason I ordered it, so you have to check and make sure your food is correct because the expo guy won’t notice if your guacamole is missing. They did get me the guacamole, but it sucked I had to wait to eat my burrito so I could enjoy them together. I had better burritos in those authentic hole in the wall restaurants for less. The only reason I came here was for the atmosphere and cool hut cabana set up that has TVs inside. So if I do decide to come here, it would only to drink and have some cheap appetizers and not to have a meal just so I can enjoy the cabana style seating area. So don’t let the cool set up fool you into thinking you’re getting a special gourmet Mexican experience like Javier’s. Because that is what I expected and ended up getting food that felt like was snuck in from Baja Fresh and put on a glass plate.

So it’s 530pm on a Sunday, this place is slammed busy, great music great crowd. We grab a seat, grab the waitress and ask for a menu. «Why» she says? Ummm because we would like some drinks and maybe an appetizer…, «Oh, our kitchen closed half hour ago» and the chips and salsa in her hands«oh these are the last chips and salsa, sorry» give me a break. This place has the worst service, attitude etc I have ever witnessed. The only reason the place is packed is because the promoters from Sutra put on the event. This place is garbage and people need to stop coming here, until then, this establishment will thrive from the overflow and continue to generate enough revenue to stay open from the overflow of the establishments that treat people well.

I absolutely love this restaurant. The food is great and filling; I love the atmosphere and décor. But what I loved most was our server Rocky!!! The best service I have ever received! Thank you for being the best in every way! Someone please give this man a raise ;-p. Thank you to everyone that was in on my surprise proposal El Corazon restaurant will forever be a special place for us. I don’t know why This place has such bad reviews. The feel of the restaurant makes me feel like I’m Cabo, and who doesn’t want to be in Cabo… The food is outstanding, the service is amazing and the price is not to expensive. Average entire is about $ 13, not bad. FYI, I don’t work for the restaurant, I just love to eat and I hate that this place only has a couple stars. I would also like to add Diedre(our server) was so personable. Love, love, love El Corazon

I’ve heard a lot of negative stuff about this place, but we had a coupon and decided to give it a try. We showed up one Sunday evening and chose a patio spot. The place was practically empty so we got our pick of the best spots under the heat lamps. They do offer blankets though to keep you warm as well. This is one of the best patios I have ever seen. Our server(I think may have been one of the managers) was great. He was very helpful and friendly without being at our table every 2 minutes. He knew how to make suggestions for us and check in when needed. We started off with a couple of their margaritas(they have a lot of interesting drinks options as well as build your own). The large is more likely the size you want and is slightly pricy to me at $ 12.50. While enjoying the free chips and salsa we perused the menu. I ended up getting the Fish Tacos and my boyfriend got the Carne Asada, both seemed reasonably priced under $ 14. His steak was cooked well and my fish tacos were fresh and I liked the avocado crema it was served with. After our meal, our server gave us a free flan trio unexpectedly. Nothing had gone wrong at the meal so we definitely were surprised, but really enjoyed each of them. I definitely plan to go back.

Back when I lived in Eastern Europe, I would approach my meals at a restaurant like a Amerikan durok, giddily ordering my food with an air of confidence, expecting that I would receive whatever my heart desired. My lessons were harsh, but effective– I learned that a reductive approach to dining prevented loss and sorrow– simply receiving a meal was cause for celebration. Upon returning from the motherland, I rejoiced my ability to get whatever I wanted, stuffing myself with meal after meal of freedom. That is, until we went to El Corazon… Already drunk with freedom, I opted for the $ 15 grande margarita, figuring this would be as good as any place to start. And just like the menu said, it was indeed grande(Spanish for sugar margarita). It had so much delicious sugar that I was able to drink two of them without feeling nearly anything from the alcohol. What a delight! As if sensing my Eastern European roots, El Corazon(Spanish for«out of stock,»(thanks for that one MM)) informed us that they were out of guacamole. They were also out of a few more of the items we ordered. Luckily for the rest of group, I was armed with training they did not possess, i.e. the ability to ask the magic question, «What DO you have in stock today?» Despite a shortage of guacamole, half an avocado did manage to arrive on one of my tablemate’s plates, begging the question, «couldn’t you mush that up with a little lime and call it good?» I started to chide her for her churlish behavior, but then I remembered that she had not received the same training I had. She should have been thankful to receive anything at all. The only reason I give El Corazon 2 stars is because our wait staff did their best to appease the situation. I should have scolded them too and told them to be proud of their establishment, frankly, that it was a privilege for us to even be dining there in the first place. We should have been thanking them for even talking to us! But what can you say to the untrained Plebeian? We were showered with free shots, free churros(Spanish for sorrow felt apology), and an eventual round of guacamole that appeared from the heavens. The bottom line is this: The food actually isn’t half bad, the patio is beautiful, the price isn’t outrageous, and the staff seems to be trying to make things right. This disappoints me. If you could remove those things, that would be great. 1.5 stars.

I came here with Drew M. after catching a $ 4 Tuesday movie at the Starlight cinemas. The place was pretty dead around 8:40 pm but they have Taco Tuesday specials from 4 pm — 11 pm. Score! Chicken or Al Pastor tacos are $ 2.50 each. Carne asada and shrimp tacos are a little extra. Two tacos along with their salsa and chips filled me up nicely. We asked for a side of diced jalapenos to spice up the salsa and food. Drew ordered the carne asada quesadilla which was really great. I really like how soft their corn tortillas were but you have a choice of corn or flour tortillas here which is also great. The Al Pastor taco came with a pile of pineapple salsa on top. The pork was juicy and the taco was tasty. The carne asada taco was topped with guacamole. The food was good and nicely priced. I can understand how busy they might get during happy hour or the weekend. The patio is equipped with plenty of heat lamps to keep this Cali girl warm on a cold winter evening. There are also blankets and plenty of fire pits that encourage lounging outdoors. Bottomless mimosas and sangria are offered during their weekend brunch.

Weekend lunch time fun! Unlimited sangria or mimosa for 9.75!!! How do you pass that up. To start out with we had the chips and salsa. Salsa is awesome and tastes even better with banana chips. Although they do have regular chips. The sangria is perfect. Not too alcoholic and not too sweet.

Came here for lunch on a weekday, and there was no wait. We were seated immediately. First impression: beautiful décor. Really clean. Makes you feel like your on vacation! I ordered the tacos Al Pastor that came with a side of rice and black beans. The pork was a little too salty, but overall really good. All meals come with complimentary chips, and two different types of salsas(yumm!). The service was quick and friendly. Our waiter even gave us complimentary samples of Horchata(rice milk). I also have to give big kudos the restrooms. As weird as it sounds, this restaurant has the best restrooms I have ever seen! Each toilet is in its own room(not a stall) with walls running from the floor to the ceiling, doors were wooden and super tall(no gaps where people peek in), music was playing loud enough where you can’t hear other people… doing their business…, and the sinks were like art! Overall, good food, good service, great ambiance!

Corazon, where do I start? –A waitress rolled her eyes at my friend when he requested a little more vodka in his red bull with no vodka. –My girlfriend ordered shrimp, they were undercooked, second order comes out and the shrimp were under cooked AGAIN. I have not had a bad experience here myself but I have a few friends that have. Their taco Tuesday prices are good and I like that the waiter brings you your tacos unlike other Taco Tuesdays(ehhh hmmm El Torito), drink specials end at 6pm even on Taco Tuesday(El Torito drink specials are until 9pm I think). Their Cadillac Margarita super stiff and I like it. Sure saves me money on ordering another round of drinks. I like the vibe, patio and décor is beautiful and that is probably why I cant give Corazon the two stars it deserves, you get 3 stars for impeccable décor.

Based on many reviews, El Corazon had an OFF day during Father’s Day brunch. I was one of many that had a horrible experience this day so feel I much share it with fellow Unilocalers. Trying to get a quick breakfast before heading to the beach ended up being a 2+ hour ordeal that still left me hungry. Everyone at my table of 6 said it was the worst dining experience of their life… it was hilarious in a way, not at the time though. Problems — Drinks took 30 minutes and water refills never came — Food took longer and was cold when it came out so seems it was sitting under heat lamps — One person at our table was brought 2 wrong meals and didn’t end up getting the right meal until 45 minutes AFTER the rest of us finished – Our server went missing I had to go inside to find her and remind her that 1 person still had no food — They randomly tried to give us food we didn’t order during the wait(which was probably another tables) and when we told them that, that replied we can just have it b/c they didn’t know where it went??? They were just handing out enchiladas all day! We were considering walking out but we didn’t. When I looked at my credit card bill I was charged triple what I signed for. On a positive note, I called the restaurant about the credit card charge and problems and the manager on duty was extremely helpful and fixed the problem right way. Too bad he wasn’t there on Father’s Day! This place has a great outdoor patio and ambience, I would hate to see it fail. I hope management fixes the problems and trains their staff more efficiently so this place could turn around.

Coming here was one of my most hilarious dining experiences ever. Bare with me as I go into great detail of this evening. I called in 10 minutes before arriving just to ensure it wouldn’t be too packed. I was told the wait to be seated outside would be 45 minutes, whereas inside there would be no wait; we’d be seated right away. We arrive to the restaurant, which seems to be divided between outside and inside because the hostess outside told us to go inside to find the other hostess. So we talk to the inside hostess about getting a table for 4 and she says they’re cleaning one off right now and it would take 4 – 5 minutes. Another hostess comes over and apologizes for the wait but offers to escort us to the bar to get a free drink for having to wait. We were like«Uh, ok.» and order 3 blackberry margaritas. They don’t have sangria… a Mexican restaurant staple next to margaritas and tortilla chips, in my opinion. There is nowhere to wait so we are just standing around drinking our drinks and dodging waiters and other workers. Maybe 20 minutes goes by and we haven’t been called back. My brother and I go back to the hostess and ask if the table is ready yet. SAME hostess from the start, gives us a blank stare and says«Have you put your name on the waitlist yet?» She doesn’t even recognize us… and no, we hadn’t put our name on a waitlist because she never asked for our names. So we put our name down and wait another 15ish minutes, which we are then sat outside… which confuses us because we were told it’d be much quicker to be sat inside… but we got a table. They brought us mountains of chips and salsa. We finished the salsa quickly and requested for more salsa but the waitress brings us more chips instead… Well, we ordered and waited about an hour for the food to come. This drove my dad crazy and as soon as the food came out he turned his plate of enchiladas completely vertical and said«These have been waiting under the heating lamp for way too long, I don’t want these.» and gives them back to her. She must have informed one of the managers of this and he comes out to address the issue. My dad explains all that has happened thus far and the manager apologizes«man to man.» MY dad says he doesn’t want anything anymore, and not to bother bringing anything else out for him to eat. 15 – 20 minutes later after the rest of us have finished eating, out comes a new plate of enchiladas! So even still after talking to the manager, there was lack of communication. He didn’t even go back to the kitchen to communicate my dad’s request to not bring him anything else. The food over all was really just okay. It’s not authentic Mexican food, that’s for sure. For 3 meals and 3 margaritas, the bill came out to about $ 37 to compensate. Overall, funny experience, but not worth trying again.

I recently dined here with a big group to celebrate a friend’s birthday. Sadly, this place did not deliver. In fact, we were quite disappointed with the food and horrible service. Positives: Atmosphere was dope! Loved this little Cabo resort feel in Costa Me-xico. The«palette cleanser-fruit sorbet» in the cute little margarita shooter glasses were super yummy! They were on it with the chips and the green salsa. Our server was cute aaaand… that’s about it. That’s the only positive compliment I can pay the service. Negatives: The service and food alone(I assume) will not keep this restaurant in business. To call one establishment El Corazon and spend so much on a Mexican décor, they don’t offer much else to their customers. I really wanted to love this place for all the right reasons, not just because it LOOKED cool. FOODWASWAAAAAAAAYOVERPRICED! $ 12.75 for 3 unauthentic«tacos» one can find in a restaurant in Nebraska. This is Southern California, El Corazon, this is not our first time having tacos: step it up! Having brussel sprouts and sweet potatoes as side dishes were one of the many disappointments. It’s so perplexing for a Mexican restaurant. Spinach and sweet potato enchiladas? REALLY? Their beans and rice were horrid! I ordered the enchiladas which were so bad! One giant chunk of chicken that fills not even half of the enchiladas? C’mon guys, get it together back there! Tableside guacamole: the avocados were so under ripe they left huge-chip-breaking chunks; even when we tried to mash up the avocados, it was seriously impossible they were so hard and flavorless!!! Our servers kept disappearing! It took them 30 minutes to bring the plates and utensils, and when they did bring them they were dirty and disgusting. We asked 5 times for napkins! We waited a half hour just to ORDER drinks and then maybe another 45 minutes to place our food order. Womp womp. A friend asked the waiter to skip her(as he took everyone else’s order) and come back to her after he was finished taking their orders. He bounced and totally forgot to take her order entirely. We had to send out search and rescue team to locate him, only to be told by the hostess that she would have to PAGE him! Where did he go? Perhaps they should hire better, more experienced staff to handle a large party so we don’t leave so disappointed. Perhaps they should also keep in theme with their menu and offer more authentic dishes. We felt like this place was scamming us for our money. Looking at the reviews of this restaurant, I hope this establishment takes into heart(or this case, el corazon) the constructive criticism to keep this place alive. Otherwise, this place is doomed to fail. El Corazon does NOT have my corazon. We left the restaurant with a bad taste in our mouths and clearly disappointed.

I loved the ambiance of this restaurant, and our server was very friendly and very knowledgeable about the menu. Unfortunately the service was very slow and the food didn’t blow me away, though I would return to try more things. We ordered: Spicy Tuna Tacos: These little«tacos» are filled with raw tuna and a papaya slaw in a thinly-sliced jicama«shell.» Two thumbs up for creativity, and they tasted very fresh, but were missing some kick, like they needed a salsa or something to liven them up. Pork Tamal en «Manchamanteles»: Tamale filled with shredded pork, topped with chorizo and pineapple in a mole sauce. This had great flavor, but the masa-to-filling ratio was a bit off. I would have liked less masa and more filling. The mole sauce was great, though, and the addition of the chorizo and pineapple gave the tamale a lot of flavor. Rice and Beans: Standard, nothing special. Mexican Coffee: This dessert concoction is a mix of coffee, tequila, and kahlua served with vanilla ice cream. They make it tableside and put on quite the show by lighting the alcohol on fire and pouring it back and forth. Very cool. I am not the biggest fan of boozy desserts in general, but it was pretty good, and seeing them make it was fun. Unfortunately, although our server was very attentive at first, it took FOREVER for someone to come clear our plates and get us our check, and after we ordered our Mexican coffee it took so long for the guy to come over to make it that we thought they had forgotten about us. Hopefully as they work the kinks out of their system the service will get more efficient. I’d love to come back for happy hour, they have some good specials and some very interesting-sounding margaritas.

Went for dinner tonight which I believe was opening day. We(party of two) got there at 6:15 and were told it would be a 30 – 45 minute wait. I gave my number since they notify you via text when your table is ready. It’s now 9:30, we’re back at home and STILL have NOT receive a text that there is a table for us. Unbelievable. I understand it’s opening day and it was pretty busy but don’t estimate 30 mins if you’re not sure. Just be honest. House margarita was not good, too sweet. Got a second one w don Julio which was much better but not worth $ 12. I spent $ 50 to eat chips ‘n salsa, black beans and rice(when I ordered refried beans; not sure what happened there but needed something to eat), and a few drinks. Looks like another overpriced Mexican restaurant like Javier’s w subpar food. I’d personally prefer mi casa or el matador although I guess I can’t be sure since we didn’t have a chance to eat real food. Best judge of a good Mexican restaurant is the chips n salsa and their salsa wasn’t good. Red was too thick and like tomato pasta sauce. The green was too sweet/citrus-y. The layout is nice but there is clearly not enough tables and they were very disorganized. There is too much open space/standing areas and the bars are too small. I might be will ing to try it again in a couple months if they can get their act together and work out all the kinks. The only perk was They were giving out horchata/rum shots on the house which was nice and they were tasty but I’m pretty sure there was only a splash of rum(very weak).
