Couple pool tables. Tunes on the jukebox. And some really strong drinks. What more do you want from a neighborhood Dive :)

Love this bar its a dive bar but its very open lots of sun light and nice bar stools to sit on not all ripped up I personally love weekend Kaysee shes the best always is very nice and pleasent and funny shes def. my favorite bartender. Pool tables, ice cold beer it comes out of a cooler but that just makes it even colder, the drinks are great and cheap they even have champagne which I love, great new jukebox, lots of locals the owner is very nice too its worth checking out oh and they also have hot spot which is a major plus.

3.5 Cheap drinks… cash only… they have small bags of chips that you can munch on… I heard there was no door on the bathroom but I didn’t actually go after I heard that… a pool table(or two, can’t remember, things are hazy now)… and a jukebox that took my money but never played my songs. What more could you want from a dive bar?

I love madalyns. Bartenders are very nice. I love Kaysee the am bartender, she’s always happy. Sue, is always super nice, and professional. Love her!!! And Laurie the night time bartender, has to deal with a lot… She’s the night time… She’s so strong and professional, the best!!! she’s kind to everyone, she deals with way more than she should! She’s great! It’s a dive bar that I love to come to. There’s also mike… 2 days a week, awesome man, I love to see him too, and there’s another Casey, sweet girl also, works weekends.

This bar cracks me up. It’s a dirty dive bar and when I ordered a beer they pulled it out of a cooler that you would use when you go camping. Also, the lady behind the bar is pissed off that she has to come to work. I won’t be going back.

The spot does have some bad reviews but it’s a local neighborhood bar you got to understand the clientele but I love this bar

Really crappy(but fun) bar. It’s old and rinky dink. A definite dive bar. They serve only sutter home wine and their beer is from a can sitting in a cooler. You really go for the liquor I guess. But the redeeming quality is the pool table, cheap drinks, and jukebox.

In response to the post on 12÷6÷14: I was there and saw everything. First, you and your 21 yr old friends took beers & cocktails outside(illegal) the bartender told you not to do that, yet you did it again(disrespectful). Second, someone in your party spilled a drink on the pool table(deliberate or accident?) as you walked out the door snickering and watching her clean up your mess. The crowd was under 50 yrs old, everyone was having a good time until your party showed up, maybe if you tip the person making your drinks and follow bar etiquette you might find this local neighborhood watering hole to be a fun place to hang, but then again you are still young and have some growing up to do. Next time you post a review try to come up with the truth and a more descriptive word than«shit». :)

I went here for my first time last night, and it was a great time. The crowd was very friendly and the pool tables were actually decent for a dive. I play a lot of pool, so that is very important for me. I plan on visiting here everytime I am in the area in the near future. I felt extremely welcomed by the bartendress, she was very quick with a drink and never let you sit thirsty. I can not wait to visit again!

Awful. Not good awful. Awful-awful. You know those recon guys on Bar Rescue? That’s what I felt like. Just needed a drink. Strolled in and ordered an old fashioned. Was told, «can’t make that, we don’t have sweet vermouth.» Please kill me. First, there’s no sweet vermouth in an old fashioned. Second, what kinda bar doesn’t have sweet vermouth? I’m now enjoying my maker’s on the rocks. I’m also listening to everyone in here blaming all their problems on obamacare. Please kill me. I then tried to order food off the wall menu scrawled on glass with a grease pencil. Was told, «just so you know, it’s all microwave food.» Ok, I’ll pass. At least she had the decency to tell me her bar sucks. But I wasn’t coming back anyway. I like dive bars. I also like a properly constructed cocktail. Do yourself a favor and skip this place. I see no reason whatsoever to come here.

I came here on a Friday night with my boyfriend and one other guy friend and quickly left after being served by that blond broodwitch that other Unilocalers aptly identified as the bartender. The locals are… interesting and by interesting I mean they looked like they wanted to shove a chainsaw through each of our crotches and zip it in a quick and upward fashion, a la Gears of War. Cash only? OMFG what century are we in??? One of the local ladies even came up to us when a Sublime song was playing on the juke and asked if we smoked ganja and started feeling up my buddy’s leg. The teeth on that woman… my god I thought they were moving! And my poor buddy… his leg had to be amputated. Should this bar be the last standing bar in town in the year 3539, I will leave a foolproof moonshine recipe for my future self hidden in a secret spot that only said future self would know about and create bathtubs full of shine and have myself a good time, listening to Sublime in peace. Or I could just go to the Harp.

Came here for the first time and unfortunately it was the older blonde bartender that was here that people have Unilocaled about before. Everything about her is true… We ordered a pitcher of beer that cost 11.25 and she wouldn’t take any change unless they were quarters. And it’s not like they were pennies, I was paying with nickels and dimes. At first I thought she was joking but I looked up and she had a cold look on her face… anyways we needed change to play pool and my friend asked her for a quarter and she snapped ‘I told you before that we don’t take other change than quarters.’ Totally rude, I don’t know how it is with the other bartenders… but if she wasn’t a total bitch then I’d actually back here. I wouldn’t recommend this bar to anyone at all…

This is a tiny local bar. Nothing really notable. The bartender wasn’t very nice, which is important for a bar this size. I wouldn’t recommend it. There are other local bars around that are so much better.

Tiny little neighborhood bar that’s right off the 55. This spot is cash only with zero music playing unless you pay to play it on the juke box and a bathroom tinier than a hall closet. The owners n bartenders were nice enough n I noticed food for sale but overall this strikes me as a spot you go to do your own thing, not to be social. I enjoyed myself with my friends but I’d most likely never return unless the boys brought me again.

I miss this place. I used to go here because it was the closest bar for a drink. But, it was more than that. Yes, it is a dive, but a good dive. The bartenders are cool to talk to, they have a good happy hour and there is usually pretty good people watching, sometimes a bit sketchy, but mostly friendly and entertaining. I like this place because you can just show up wearing whatever and no one shows up to try and impress anyone like a lot of other places in Costa Mesa, Newport Beach area. Oh, and they have a jukebox with some pretty good tunes which is always nice.

Madeline was supposed to be my new favorite bar, I talked about wanting to go there for MONTHS before I could convince any of my friends to go. So on one of our many date night, bike rides, the man and I popped into Madeline’s. I was so, so excited, I absolutely love small, dive bars; they are small, darkly lit, charming and you never know what kind of people you’re going to run into. Unfortunately, we met the female bartender; she was so incredibly rude, it was unbelievable. We handed her our credit card, to pay, and she snapped at us. Listen, I understand you don’t take credit cards and I have no problem getting cash, but she did not have to act rude about it. So she directs us to the ATM outside and my man went to go pull out some cash. He tried for about 5 minutes before figuring something was wrong with his card. So, he cam in and told me to get cash out with mine. I tried, I tried, I tried again and it was not working. After about 5 mins of me trying my card, I went inside and explained to her what was happening, asking is she could give us any advice on another close ATM that I could run to, and again, she snapped. She made an incredibly snide comment, which I can’t recall right now, and huffed and puffed her way outside, all 20 feet, to show us how the fickle machine can only read the card if you run it slow. Yeah, bitch, a little heads up would have been nice. We got our money and paid, and at that point, we honestly didn’t even feel like finishing our drinks(but don’t worry, we did), because the bartender was so hostile towards us. We tried not to let it ruin our time there, but there was no getting away from it. We quickly finished our drinks and headed home. It was honestly such a bummer, because I really, really wanted to love this place, it’s so cute, so convenient and seemed prefect, but if you happen to go in on a night when this woman is working, you’re going to regret it.

WOW !!! You can hear the blues and smell the booze in this dive from way across the street. The men’s room doesn’t even have a door, for cryin’ out loud !! I am quite proud of my bird, so the door-less restroom is alright by me. Madeline’s Bar in Costa Mesa, is a laid back, little neighborhood bar with a friendly following of locals and friends. The bartenders are very nice people & the drinks can be strong as rocket fuel, so plan on not driving, unless you have a car. Madeline’s has recently been painted and renovated. 2 pool tables with plenty of players, hi-def screens with sports, jukebox with an eclectic selection of randomness, vid-games, keno, outdoor smoker’s patio with hi-def screen, microwave-pub grub, cash only, ATM, restaurants within staggering distance„ laundromat next door so you can get ripped and wash your underwear at the same time. Meet, Socialize, Party. Madeline’s Rocks !!! Drink On, my drunken friends, KROTCHHAMILTON, Professional Lounge Lizard
