I’ve been to Sutra multiple times, but it’s one of the best dance clubs in Orange County. The promoter Yuriy is awesome and was making sure everyone was having a good time.

I used to frequent this place whenever I went up north. Sadly, it’s one of the few options if you want to avoid Downtown LA’s clubbin’ scene. I’ll just add onto the negative reviews. Not like it will make much difference to the establishment. They obviously don’t care about their reputation. Boo. –Ridiculously always over packed — looking for trouble here –Small dancefloor — can be hazardous; so many rude and obnoxious drunks(including bouncers) shoving people. Uhh keep the capacity at a minimum to avoid this duh. –Bouncers are d! cks. most are, but this takes the cake ! Ego-driven !! –Pricey — get your drink on next door if you want a nice buzz; they are located near other restaurants –Bartenders are hit or miss; if you are a regular then they’ll hook you up with more alchy than ice. Joy ! –No guarantees you’ll get in whether on a list or not. They pick and choose their clientele. Unless you look like a hoochie, you’re better off hitting the bars nearby. Why did I go here again? Oh yeah, the ex always wanted to. If it wasn’t for him, I wouldn’t dare step foot in hurrr. The stress just isn’t worth it.

Place is really small. Even when you get a table people are still very close since space is limited. The dance floor was a bit tight too. They have a second room for another dj in the back corner but it’s a third of the first dance floor. Place gets really pack so expect a lot of people bumping into you. The bathroom is a pretty decent size. A few friends and I got a table outside, the servers we’re very nice and kept refilling our ice and juices. I recommend getting a table if you want to go here. They offer comp tables, find a promoter !!

Always heard about this place cause of the edm artists that come and perform here and actually got to come here this past weekend. Its located in a nice plaza on the top floor, I guess you can say rooftop. Surrounded by many restaurants as well. It was no hassle or long wait to get in. I thought dresscode would be strictly enforced like no jeans or sandals but I saw a lot of people dressed casual. The dance floor is very small, so it gets pretty crowded. Dj serafin did a pretty great job. And their drinks were strong as well, which is great because a lot of places water them down.

One of the worst experiences I have ever had at a club. The management was rude, especially a short white guy named Urie? They were rude to us entering the club, 7 girls, as well as rude as we were leaving, meaning I was shoulder chucked by this particular employee. This was the first and last time I will ever go to this club. Employees need to be taught a little something about customer service, especially in this booming business.

I can see why people like this place, but I’m not a fan of Vegas so I think this club just isn’t for me. The DJ was great though and I danced the night away! The cover is outrageous and should not be that much. I would chose a local dive than go here again unless I know the DJ.

Great DJ’s and artists but after spending $ 1000’s on bottle service I expect MUCH better service compared to other nightclubs. A bunch of random people sneak into VIP and try to steal your bottle. When it did happen, I brought it up to my server and security and they told me I was lying. Security were complete dicks saying I was drunk when I don’t even drink and only came here to bring my clients. First of all, if I spend 2k a night on MULTIPLE bottles and complain about ONE, don’t call me a liar when everyone knows you guys(along with any other nightclub) marks the bottles up 20x the amount, you could of at least checked your cameras rather than calling me a liar. Sorry Sutra, I’ve been coming here for years, but NOTEVERAGAIN!

We got a table and ordered four bottles and they only gave us two but tried to charge us for four on two separate cards. I’m not sure if it was due to a lack of communication between the employees because New Years is busy, but it was frustrating. The redeeming quality is that the manager was patient and worked it out for us.

This is the most disorganized club! Horrible service! We waited in line for 45 mins despite reserving bottle service. Then when we arrived at our table there were people seated there so they tried to split a table that seats 8 between two separate parties. They had obviously over sold their tables. Worst bottle service experience, you’re better off going all the way to LA.

Visiting for the first time December 4 for Julian Jordan. Had always heard this was an «intimate» space and thats no lie. Has all the bells and whistles of bigger clubs but in what’s essentially a mall. Like the patio and smaller back room to get out of the main room for a bit. Drink prices werent bad either. Coming from Vegas it’s always interesting how early and quickly the SoCal kids turn up. Makes for fun people watching. Did guestlist and got there about 930 and was in the door with free entry by 10. All in all a good night at a good laid back venue. Would definitely go back if the right DJ is there and we got guestlist again.

Alright, I’ve been here several times. I give 5 stars for the staff! 1) If it weren’t for the security guards, I probably would be kidnapped by now. 2) the bartenders are excellent, and I’ve never had a watered down drink. The staff put up with quite a bit here, and trust me, the one part that is true is that there are a LOT of sloppy drunks and guys who think that they’re mighty mouse and will literally grab your arm and pull you… which happened in my last experience. This guy was incredibly drunk, I was incredibly sober and that right there, is not a good mix. He came up to me, grabbed my arm, and asked me «want to get phở»…why? Because I’m Asian and Vietnamese? I told him«yeah I like Phở, just not with you». I’m pretty straight forward. he obviously didn’t get the hint, because then he proceeded to grab my arm and pull me in the direction of the exit sign. I was able to get out, thanks to security, and the entire night, the security made sure that he was nowhere near me… it wasn’t until the end of the night when everyone had to leave that we found out he had been waiting the entire time outside for me. Kind of scary, pretty creepy, and well… thank goodness for the security. The problem isn’t the people who work there… it’s the people who come in. There’s not really a mix of different types of people, just one… sloppy drunks/people who like to start fights(even women)/ and classless individuals. I remember Sutra years ago, they were actually a bit strict in who they let in, how people could dress etc. This specific night, I saw a total of 4 different fights. There shouldn’t be fights period. I now only come here if there is a really good DJ playing like Brooklyn, etc. other than that, I try to steer clear. Please do not blame it on the staff, they deal with a lot of crap, respect them, because they’re human beings, and if you treat them with respect, you’ll get respect.

Sutra, you and I have a love-hate relationship. +Sutra is awesome because they host plenty of events with world famous EDM DJs. I’m a trance head so I’ve attended couple Sutra events with Irvine friends and had a great time. +One of the few clubs in OC area and located in a plaza with restaurants and free parking. +Guest list available but if you don’t make it before 10PM, must pay cover fee. –Howeverrrrrr, I really hate how small this venue is. EDM’s been mainstream for years now so Sutra just gets more and more packed each event. I really cannot move and I feel like I’m suffocating or there are plenty of douchefaces that shoves and pushes. BTW, dude, please don’t act butt hurt that I shoved you back when you freaking shoved a girl first. No surprises there. –Did I mention you will wait in line for a longggg time if you don’t come early? I never wait as long at Exchange LA. Not down to party like a can of sardines with lots of assholes. Sutra, stop overcrowding the dance floor and regulate the max capacity!

You’re kidding me when a club takes HOURS to let people in. It’s a total SCAM to come to this place and wait forever to get in and then get to the front and be told that you have to pay even though you were in line for 30 minutes. But wait are you telling me you’re doing me a favor by charging $ 30 a person«with a round of drinks» yea get over yourself. This place is a fucking joke. Just avoid it at all costs before you give them any of your hard earned money. If no stars was an option I would choose that!

The most popular club in Orange County and it always has surprises with big artist and DJs on Thursday, Friday or Saturday. The club is small but fun and very convenient since it’s located in a plaza where parking is included and restaurants to be found for late night snack after the club.

Sutra is an ok club… It’s on the smaller side. I’ve been here numerous times. It gets pretty crowded the later you go and that’s including the outside patio. It gets hard to walk anywhere. Guestlist is a hit or miss. Sometimes they let people in fast from that line and sometimes super slow. So if you get guestlist make sure to go super early. There are like 4 bars there and some are smaller than others so depending on what you drink you might have to go to another one. They don’t have patron(womp womp). Bartenders are usually nice and attentive to their surroundings. When something is spilled on the dance floor or anywhere else it takes a while to get cleaned and the floor is SLIPPPPPPPPPERY. So be careful if heels are involved. A lot of cool headliners play here which is why I come here… And also because it’s closer to home

Came out for my friends birthday and it was super fun! It was my first time here even though I’m local, but I actually had a much better time than I had expected. We got there sometime past 11pm and they told us it was crowded so it’d be a long wait. The wait actually wasn’t bad at all. $ 20 entry at the door and the music was mostly edm so I really enjoyed it. Overall a cool night, thanks sutra!

OC can be a quiet place… don’t get me started about the lack of nightlife! But thankfully there’s one little beacon of dancefloor debauchery in the OC — SUTRA. Yes, Sutra is totally the typical club. Bouncers, expensive drinks, crowded space, lines for bathrooms… all that. But, HELLO — it’s a club! Don’t come here looking for a mellow, cerebral crowd who’s kicking back with craft beers. Ain’t happening :) Sutra perfectly satisfies my occasional strong craving for a real night out. Having moved from LA& so desperately missing the plethora of things to do past 10p, I’ll even forgive Sutra for being part of a shopping complex with a 5-star view of Sprouts Market from the VIP(like I said — OC nightlife makes for beggers, not choosers!) However Sutra has one very special component that most LA clubs don’t have — the staff at Sutra is super nice. Like, surprisingly nice. From bouncers to managers, promoters to waitresses, everyone is so accomodating & friendly. Their promoter Kat comes through with the hookup everytime & makes our nights super fun. Manager Clint’s also great & always makes sure our tables are excellent. So basically if you’re looking for a ridiculous & fun night out that’s still pretty easy-going considering it’s a club, go to Sutra. You can dress up, get a little crazy with your crew, and still only be 15 minutes from home. WIN-WIN!

Do you love clubs that are filled with snobby, arrogant and stuck up ladies? Do you mind being hit on by desperate men who have no game? Do you enjoy the feeling of being packed in like a can of sardines? What about overpaying for waterdown alcohol drinks, do you not care? If you answered Yes to any of these questions than Sutra is your place! A club in Costa Mesa, one who has never been would assume fancy, right? It’s not all that bad with it’s stylish décor, three bars, DJ’s who play good music but throw in overcrowding, bartenders who are rude, spilled drinks on the dance floor, pushing, shoving and a room full of the most obnoxious people, all the positives easily go out the door. I’m ashamed to admit I’ve been to Sutra a few times to celebrate my girlfriends birthdays. The sacrifices we must do to please others. Each visit has never been a positive one. Even VIP with bottle service is a joke. They see customers as dollar signs and nothing more. Service: Bouncers here are cool but the rent a cops, oops I meant security well forget about it. If a fight breaks out at Sutra, save yourself. As for bartenders, some of them need a personailty check. They pick and choose who to serve first. Tip: Those on the guest list are free before 10:00pm, after 10:00pm it’s $ 20.00. I would never pay to go in Sutra as hell would have to freeze over before I give them an Andrew Jackson bill. Parking: Free parking in the structure Overall experience: Instead of wasting time you can never get back, go to a club in LA or SD. Club Sutra definitely No. Two stars

Its been a long time since I came back to Sutra and… when i say long i mean, Omg has everything changed?! Dress code is Casual for Boys and girls — i saw sandals to baseball caps. Its like a lounge really with club like atmosphere. My friends always gets tables and as an old lady returning back to the club scene, we can’t do clubbing without a table. Place behind the DJ, I can see pretty much everything and as exciting as it is… Its def. not my scene anymore, that’s all i gotta say!
