The food at Pom&Olive is excellent and the price very moderate. Their meat skewers(chicken, beef, fish etc.) come with a choice of rice and salad. Try the rice with lentils and raisins for a treat. The prices are in the $ 10 to $ 12 range for a full meal. They have several soups and of course other salads. I think if you try this fairly new restaurant once you will return. The restaurant is on Bristol(near Red Hill) in Costa Mesa and it is located next to a motel. They don’t have a liquor license yet, but you can bring your own wine. The interior décor is pleasant, but it is obviously from a previous restaurant.

Large, delicious portions, reasonable pricing, and lightning fast service with a smile make Pom & Olive my new Mediterranean go-to. The Salmon Kabob($ 14) is seriously exceptional, and the Cucumber Refresher($ 4) is as delightful as it sounds and appears in the photos! For dessert, the tiramisu($ 5) is totally worth it. Pass on the chocolate cake. — — — — — — — — In my opinion, Pom & Olive’s very generous Unilocal check-in offer alone is reason enough to at least give it a whirl. Checking in grants you your choice of what appears to be a full appetizer: — Pita Fries Served with side of hummus($ 6 on the menu) — Tatziki Chopped cucumbers, yogurt, fresh garlic & olive oil serve with pita($ 4 on the menu) If you have 2 Unilocalers at your table who both check in and ask very politely, your waiter may even allow you to try both! ;) — — — — — — — — Bonus: AMEX accepted!

Having the baked lamb shank and tatziki for lunch seems great. Not too busy at this hour so service is fast. I am so hungry that I’m going to dive right in. Later!

Have been looking for an on point place to get kubideh, and we have a winner. Stopped in on Valentine’s Day to pick up some picnic food and this my boys is the perfect spot to grab the perfect sunset dinner for you and your love. From what I gathered, they’ve been on the scene for 6 months or so and have a super friendly wait staff. The Cucumber & Honey water is a must try. During Winter/Spring, If you stop in here at around 3:30 on a Sunday, you can hop on the 73 South and make it to Salt Creek Beach Park in time for $ 2 parking and an awesome Sunset. Bön Apetite indeed. It’s all bout the food here. If you need a drink to eat, consider somewhere else or AA…

Came here on their steller review on a Friday night. We made reservations thinking it would be packed. There was only 3 other families there. It was very empty. They had no liquor license either. We were recommended to go to 7⁄11 to get bottles. Then they simply gave us a cork screw & wine cups and charged $ 6 per bottle for corking fee. The food was mediocre. Nothing special for the price range we were paying. Service was average too. Considering how little customers they had I would expect better service and more attention to customers needs. Maybe there’s been an owner change. But whatever happened I’m disappointed. Definitely not the 4.5 star Unilocal review quality I was expecting.

No alcohol license yet. I should have known something was off when looking at the menu and not seeing the traditional lamb dishes or Kafka or swarma, etc. I Ordered the chicken kabob entrée, spicy hummus and tabouli. The 4 small pieces chicken were very dry and bland. The grilled onions and green bell pepper were cooked properly but the rice tasted old like day old rice. The hummus was spicy, really spicy. The 6 triangles of tough pita bread per serving didn’t do any service to the hummus. The tabouli was the only dish I thought was decent; not enough for me to come back. They offer a free appetizer if you rate them in Unilocal or google. Is that why they have 4+ stars on Unilocal

This is a lovely casual-but-elegant restaurant with delicious Mediterranean and Persian food. But the unusual thing is that it’s really inexpensive! Expect to see many single-digit prices. The quality and quantity of the food is equal or better than more expensive restaurants. Try the house-made soups, the pomegranate stew, salads, falafel, appetizers… At these prices, you can afford several!

I hate when I have to give less than stellar Unilocal reviews but occasionally you run across a place that you start wondering how they got such amazing reviews when your experience was a far reach from what the almost five star reviews portrayed. I just had to say something regarding Pom & Olive because I’m pretty sure I’ve got it all figured it out… To start, I love Unilocal. It’s my bible. I run every restaurant I visit through the Unilocal test. I’m a self proclaimed Unilocal snob and I’m not embarrassed to admit it. I don’t normally go to restaurants that have less than four stars. There, I said it! Ever wondered why most of my reviews are five stars? Am I easily pleased? Do I give out five star Unilocal reviews like candy? Sort of. But Unilocal has done most of the filtering of these places for me, so I’m only going to the best of the best places. And for the most part, I’m happy with the places that y’all have rated four or five stars. But not this time… Au contraire mon frère!!! So, I read all these great reviews of Pom & Olive and I’m intrigued enough to check it out. I ignored my first warning sign when I pulled in and thought that this restaurant was in a rather odd location. It’s located right next door to a Travelodge and I’m guessing this building once belonged to a greasy spoon type of diner but they sold it. I was hungry so against my better judgment I decided to stay. I enter and the atmosphere continues where the outside left off. It’s a small step up from your basic Denny’s on the inside. Again, not at all what I was expecting, but since the other Unilocalers don’t usually steer me wrong, I give it a shot. I check in on Unilocal and immediately notice they have a check-in offer. They offer free Tzatziki or Pita Fries. Cool… Don’t mind if I do. I got the Tzatziki and it comes with pita. It was pretty mediocre. I hardly touched it… I decided to order the lamb. When it arrived, I was very surprised. I’m on a special diet these days so I don’t really do sauce and the menu did not mention anything about it. The lamb was smothered in sauce ala cafeteria food meets someone inviting you over to Grandma’s house for dinner when Grandma is not that fab of a cook and it’s time to pack it up Granny but you have to eat the whole thing in order to make a good impression. Talk about torture! So yeah, I’m like great, I got tricked into eating here and I’m not liking what I ordered upon sight at all. Kicking myself for not listening to my intuition. I decide to just eat it rather than send it back since I’m starving and the waitress is nice. And yep, just as I suspected, it didn’t taste any better than it looked either. Bummer! Fatty gristle on the meat. Bland and tasteless. Not to mention that gravy is getting all over my salad and I’m a food separatist. Gross! I barely ate my meal. After I was done, it was hard for me to flag the waitress in order to get my check and then they lagged on getting me my change even though the place wasn’t busy. It’s like they didn’t want me to leave. Come on people, let me do my walk of shame on out of here already. Unilocalers, you lied to me. I get it though! They’re friendly and they have a check-in offer so they know how to kiss the right butts in order to get these awesome reviews. And then when you receive your bill there’s a little blurb about how if you write them a review on Unilocal then they give you something for FREE on your next visit. Aha! Now all this five star business makes a lot more sense. Boy do I feel like a sucker! Fantastic job rigging your reviews, Pom & Olive. Bravo! Only now your great Unilocal reviews have attracted the likes of ME and IDGAF if you’re trying to bribe me with FREE stuff. It’s not good FREE stuff and I won’t be back. I’m going to tell it like it is too. This place blows. Don’t even bother! Listen to your gut(literally and figuratively speaking) and walk away. Trust me! At the very least if you are considering the lamb, do not order it!

We’ve driven by several times and finally stopped. We split a chicken shish ka bob with basmati rice with lentils and raisins. Everything was superb. To quote Arnold, «I’ll be back» The hummus and pita fries hit the Bullseye.

Great food and hospitality. We checked in for the free pita fries, which is fried strips of pita bread with a side of hummus to dip. The nice lady server offered us hot sauce and we loved it. The hot sauce is very spicy and delicious. The Greek salad that comes with the entrees is amazing and worth coming back for just for the salad. The feta cheese is soft and creamy, not dry like the normal store bought feta. Chicken kabobs are juicy and very flavorful with a great char. Perfectly cooked. Beef koobideh is flavorful and you get a lot of meat. The rice with lentils and raisins has hints of rose water and saffron. Very fragrant. Lamb shank has a tomato based sauce and is very tasty. Turkish coffee is super strong! Will definitely come back and try the shawerma, and bring wine for the $ 6 corkage!

I was craving Mediterranean food and I stumbled upon Pom&Olive, it was close-by so I decided to give it a shot. Upon entering the place, it really just looks like a work-place turned into a restaurant type of feel. It had a lot of open space with just tables and chairs, and I had to check if I actually walked into the right place. I ordered the Boneless Chicken Kabob and checked in to get my free order of Pita Fries. The Boneless Chicken Kabob came with salad and grilled onions, along with my order of Basmati rice, which sounds good, but when I opened my order after waiting about 15 minutes, it looked very underwhelming. The chicken to rice ratio just looked wrong, and I had to be very conscious of my portioning so I don’t end up with an enormous leftover of rice and salad. Surprisingly, what I got for free and for kicks, I liked the best. The Pita Fries and the Hummus bumped this rating up to a three, but if I had to pay for the entire order, I probably won’t be back at this place.

I found this lil gem while traveling in SoCal. Yum… I love the lentil soup, beet and their cucumber salad… The salmon kabobs, koobideh kababs. Delish! The rice is great, the basmati is good and they also make one with raisins that is fab… the servings Are very generous… Prices are super reasonable. They deliver buy their minimum is 40 $. The customer service is next level. I’m a picky eater and don’t venture out much but my cousin and pals love their hummus, tatziki. pita fries. I could go on and on… Bonus… they have an awesome deal if you«check in» on Unilocal. And they are so nice ! Ask for sheila!

This place is amazing! I used Door Dash to order from here for myself and a few coworkers. I got the chicken sandwich(chicken pita) with the Pita fries, coworkers ordered a Falafel sandwich & pita fries, and a Tabbouleh salad with salmon. My chicken sandwich was AMAZING. The chicken was delicious, the ingredients tasted fresh, the whole thing was just delicious. The pita fries were totally delicious as well and dipped in a side of hummus = heaven. My coworkers both loved their meals as well! We will be back for sure.
