I came here recently to see the group show«Animal Instincts»(Nov. 7th) which was benefiting the Humane Society of the United States. If you don’t know what the ARTery is it is a small gallery inside of steel box like containers. The kind that you can see on a train. This minimal urban gallery has some pretty good exhibits. Animal Instincts has to be the best show that I have been to at this gallery: 1) 80% of proceeds went to the Humane Society of the United States. 2) Over 25 donating artist showed at the event. 3) The beautiful Chris Sicam was busy pouring away at the bar. 4) DJ and sandwiches courtesy of Veggie Grill! 5) Raffles.(we left early to see Mum so we missed out) 6) Photo booth by
7) Amazing list of sponsors like Urban Decay and Element Skateboards. These are just a few of the perks! The event was packed! Tracey Taylor curated a great show! Some of the artist were Industry Giant, Glenn Arthur, Alex Chiu, Ryan Clemens just to name a few. You can catch this show until Nov. 15th. Closing reception is Sunday Nov. 15th from 3−6pm! Come out and BUY a rad piece of art for a good cause! I am excited to get the owl crayon piece on the 15th when I get to pick up the piece my bf surprised me with(just one of my many rad b-day surprises) !! Pics to follow!

i came here this past saturday for group show i’m involved in [[http://twitpic.com/53pa3]] i have no shame in plugging this show because 1) the theme is awesome and 2) there are some really fantastic artists who contributed work for the show and 3) the curator did an amazing job in putting the whole show together for opening night. the gallery itself is adorable and sits at the lab anti-mall right between the urban outfitters and the parking lot next to memphis… it’s a converted 8′ x 40′ shipping container that now serves as a walk-thru art gallery. it’s an interesting little space that has a nice flow and is surprisingly not claustrophobic considering it’s teeny size… they even have a small outdoor area with pebbles and stepping stones on the ground, that also serves as a great spot for sitting and watching the live artists! there are bathrooms for use around the corner next to the japanese fusion place that are really clean, and of course, there are some really great places to eat very close by. the gallery runs new shows every month and continually works to promote and support the up and comers of the artsy fartsy community!!! :D
