Pizzas are standard CPK. But I do NOT recommend getting their antipasto salad. Had to pick up something quick at the last minute and opted in trying this since usually antipasto salads are typically pretty good. Nope not here. Crappy cheese and spam-like cold cuts, nope spam tastes better. Way overpriced piece of salad, even with my 15% discount from KCRW Fringe Benefits card, should have just gone to Trader Joe’s for a cheaper and better salad.

My parents and I were feeling the mid-day hunger pangs and were thinking of leaving the mall to grab some food outside. But we decided to stop at Z Café because it looked at an affordable food option at South Coast Plaza. This is an order at the counter and find seating kind of place. There is an outdoor seating patio, or you can seat in the mall. The waiters bring you the food, plates and utensils. Menu consists of salads, sandwiches, soups and pizza. Thai chicken pizza — We got the smaller size(~$ 13) that is made for 1 – 2 people even though we were a party of three. The size of the pizza can comfortably feed two. Very tasty. With a thin crust, layer of cheese, chicken, julienne carrots and cucumbers. It came out nice and fresh. Steak salad with lemon vinaigrette($ 12) — I thought this salad was pretty plan and simple. To me, it wasn’t too memorable. The steak was cooked medium rare and there weren’t too many pieces. It was a good supplement to the pizza. Garlic knots($ 4) — Great. Nice and soft with good garlic flavoring without being over powering. I especially like the marinara sauce that accompanied the knots. It almost tasted like a tomato bisque. I could have guzzled it down. =P I think all the food came out pretty fresh. I had a satisfying meal and my parents liked it too, which is even more important. Picky Asian parents approved!

Stopped by for lunch on my way to the Apple Store at South Coast Plaza. Ordered a small mexican style pizza and an IPA beer. The pizza had good flavor, but the crust was a bit too thin for me. As you can see from my picture, part of the crust was burnt and inedible. Other than that, the service was good. They have a nice patio area where you can enjoy a meal when the weather isn’t as hot as it was today. For those that partake in adult beverages, they have some beer and wines to choose from. You can only drink in the dining area or out their patio. You can’t bring your adult beverages inside the mall. There’s a few table right outside of this place in the mall. I recommend the patio.

Zcafe is in my opinion a much needed addition to SCP. It’s a perfect place to stop and have a quick, not too unhealthy lunch as you’re shopping. The line is never too long(as it’s located in the SCP annex right at the bridge entrance on the 3rd floor) but the pizzas and salads are all great. Grab a pizza/sandwich/salad and sit on the patio and people watch :)

I’ve been here a couple times since it looks like a nice little restaurant to eat at while shopping. Their pizzas are good and I can see why they’re known for them, I don’t usually get them though and leech off my friends. I read someone’s review on the BBQ Chicken Sandwich so I decided to try it out and OMG! It was really freaken good! Honestly, Sandwich shops ain’t got nothing on this one LOL. This actually raised the bar for this place. I didn’t like how as a «café,» the coffee here isn’t that great. The lemonade was good, I would compare it to «Simply Lemonade.»

#100Reviews2015 — Review No. 23 Woootttt a tasty eatery near work that has vegan options! I typically pick something up from Pacific Whey Café, but since I’m tired of requesting their salads sans chicken, or just giving up and ordering their chips and salsa. That shit gets old after a while. Needing to make a return at Nordstrom, I decided to cross the upper level bridge and spotted ZCafe. And then, upon closer inspection, I noted it was by the creators of ZPizza, a pizza joint I typically really like since they have a tasty crust and sauce to their pizzas, and offer vegan options. ZCafe’s a lot like ZPizza, but maybe a bit nicer, more modern, and they offer pretty much the full ZPizza menu, which is cool. After 4pm, the pepperoni or cheese pizza bites go on sale for $ 4 as does the hummus plate. Score! Recommend!

During Mondays to Fridays after a certain time they have their happy hour specials, where you can get Cheese/Pepperoni Pizza for a reduced price, and half off one of their appetizers. I have tried this place a few times, once during restaurant week and once during happy hour. I had the Pepperoni Pizza one time and the Thai Pizza the other time. I also had lemonade from here on occasion. The pepperoni pizza just tasted like any other pepperoni pizza. I was expecting a bit of a better taste because of the nice oven they were using, but the pizza came out rather mediocre and plain. The Thai Pizza didn’t really come together all that nicely, and was rather boring. It was something I expected more from a large pizza restaurant chain. The lemonade was decent, it was refreshing, but even though they say it’s fresh squeezed(I think), it lacks the special something that I usually enjoy from fresh squeezed lemonade. The flavor didn’t really taste fresh squeezed to me.
