Went for a Celtic folk/Americana concert yesterday night, and loved the place and the food. We had a veggie burger and a BBQ pork sandwich, and the buns were the best! also they have giant fries, that you can’t stop eating. Perhaps service was a little slow but maybe it’s just the Saturday night effect. We’ll be back!

This place is so fun, good food, & freaking amazing! & if you’re in Cottage Grove & the world is sleeping, & this place looks closed – it’s probably not. Just walk right in lol! Beers were amazing. I love cider. I love their local brews. We had their burgers & onion rings. They have an entire library in the back! They are super community-oriented, always in the know about what’s happening around them. Some of the workers here are also involved in local plays that are amazing & hilarious. They also have a stage where local bands, comedy acts, & open mic can happen. Don’t pass this place by. Most of their calendar events happen wed-sat so stop thru after the Hump Day.

I don’t know, I haven’t gone there in awhile, maybe things have changed, But, the last time I went too many tweakers lurking in the corners for my taste.

Stopped for a couple of «adult beverages» after a walk in the Row River Trail. This place is a treasure in little Cottage Grove. Our server Kara could give lessons in how to make people welcome. We had other dinner plans but plan to come back to try out their new food menu. We enjoyed the beer selection.

Excellent burger and fries. Pretzel was solid. Ahi tuna special was cooked very well. Loud atmosphere without live music playing but overall an awesome little spot for the grove!

I had a lot of fun here. It was my one and only time so far but myself and my other guest really enjoyed ourselves. The art on the wall is great. You can even purchase the art if you are really interested. I love when restaurants support local artists like that. There was a performer and he was great too. I enjoyed the food and the drinks were great as well. Service was friendly and on top of things. What more can you ask for.

Passing through and stopped due to our inn keeper’s recommendation and we were so spoiled. Dinner was wonderful. I had the«bear» burger. not bear, but yummy sustainably grown beef, and it was lovely. My salad was huge as well. Drinks were strong and really good. We even had a special chocolate cookie. But best if all was the music. Service was outstanding as well. Thank you Axe and Fiddle for an awesome end to day one of vacation.

Great food and nice selection of drinks. They offer a restaurant style business during the day, kids are allowed. After nine the business reverts to an adult only establishment. They still offer the same great food and drinks, but without the presence of kids. Axe and Fiddle is known for bringing in great live music acts, so if you’re in the area and want to check out a unique establishmentin Cottage Grove. Give ‘em a try!

Unfortunately I can’t give a higher rating because customer service was so rude and that’s huge to us. The actual space was pretty cool and seemed fun to hang out in but the second we walked in the door the girl seemed unhappy to have us and it was over an hour before closing– she couldn’t even muster up a smile or hello when we walked in … then walked up to the bar(she was not busy just chatting and standing behind the bar) looking to get some sort of service. We hesitantly ordered a beer each and a pretzel and still just kept getting scowled at and treated like we weren’t supposed to be there or something and then what topped it all off was great– the wifi shows up as axe & fiddle so we asked for the password just trying to quickly book a room for the night and she told us no it’s not for customers(rude again of course) because they were using it too much… Ok… She then told us we were more than welcome to use the bakery next doors wifi … But told us we had to stand in the bathroom entryway to get the signal … Seriously? Your telling me I have to go stand in front of the bathroom door just to use to internet for ten minutes while I patron this place? Why would you give away someone else’s wifi? Pass through this town all the time on my way back from bend or portland but I will Never go back here. In case the owners care it was April 1st around 9 pm. Maybe it was an April fools joke to treat the customers like you don’t want them there…

I don’t mean to sound bad upon the Axe and Fiddle, for I guess we really didn’t eat there. We entered the Axe and Fiddle, sat in the area by the stage for the Axe, and ordered from a menu that was very similar to the axe’s. We chose it because the on-line menu showed a Ruben sandwich. We were not aware that 3 different organizations offered food from this building,(Axe and Fiddle, Backstage Bakery and ???), and that the A&F didn’t start serving until four pm. I am not sure who really served us, but it reflected bad upon your name. We were seated, offered water and a menu– discovering there was no Ruben. We ordered 2BLT’s. The BLT’s were very dry and no suggestion of other drink was offered. He refilled the water at the end of the meal. So my experience in the Axe and Fiddle for lunch, although I wasn’t really eating there was a disappointment.

A hip little joint on Main Street in downtown Cottage Grove. Great beer selection and awesome intimate music venue. When we visited they were supporting a local female rock festival which promoted bands with powerful young lady members. It was very inspiring.

Great name, great setting, overall it’s a good pub. I love the shared space with the book store too. Drinks: Not really a cocktail place, you can get one there but better make it a simple one. The beer selection is what you’re there for, check out the cork board for more details. Food: Reliably tasty but I wouldn’t go here to go out for a meal often, I like the sandwiches quite a bit but the wedge fries are always hard in the middle. The upstairs has darts and one pool table with tables around it, this is a good place for groups. There is also a stage and commonly live music of some sort. Overall its a little bit folksy and a great place to hang out and have a beer.

Excellent music venu! We got to see our boys Left Coast Country right up front. I love the nice open atmosphere and all very friendly here. You do have to keep after your own drinks though, it’s a bit of a trek from the bar to the front. I didn’t have anything to eat here, just booze, but I’m sure the food here is probably good. I wish I would have indulged, but I was not hungry after a big fried chicken dinner from KFC. Wasn’t too crowded and enjoyed the nice open feel so that we could enjoy the entertainment. Would go back here if they were to play here again. Job well done!

Just great! The atmosphere is nice and the people are great! I bought a groupon for this place way back when and I finally redeemed it on the day it expired and after a friend of mine suggested this place. I like this joint. It’s awesome. The bartender, Josh, and the cook, Derrick, are awesome. Two of the best guys in Oregon. My friend and I went on a quiet night. We hung out and played pool. The setup of this place is unique. There’s the bar, stage, upstairs area with seats and a pool table, and then next door is a bookstore/café-reading room. It was also pretty interesting to learn about the special currency they use in Cottage Grove. I didn’t know about it until I saw one of the other patrons paying with funny looking money. It was really nice to get out of Eugene for a night. Also, I recommend the garlic cheese potatoes! I love garlic so it worked well! I did get a chance to taste the chocolate cake shot, and yum!

This place is great, man. Why can’t we have a bar like this in Eugeneeeee??? Do we? If so, please let me know. I’m dying to find it. After an auction«win» of an overnight in a B&B down in Cottage Grove last year, hubs and I were delighted to spend a weekend in our neighbor to the south. There’s a lot to explore in terms of good hiking down in this neck of the woods. I also highly recommend the Grove as a stop for anyone trekking on I-5, with the Axe and Fiddle is a key watering hole. On our particular visit, no musical acts were scheduled. But, I gather that this is not the norm. Any perusal of The Weakly clearly highlights that most acts that pass through Eugene also stop in the Grove. Without a live band, Hubs and I were forced to talk to each other, the bartenders, and a few of the other locals who were there on a Sunday night. We drank good beer out of mason jars, and ate fantastic burgers made from Knee Deep cattle. I felt like I could have been in Portland, or the Bay Area, or Bend, Oregon all at once. Great vibes, excellent food, and high-quality microbrews. I cannot complain. For extra bonus points, plan an after-meal walk through the Cottage Grove downtown. There’s a bookstore, bakery, and coffee shop just doors away. Get your fix!

superb food — ya, you would not expect it but it is excellent. I had tostadas tonight. Fish tacos awhile back. Excellent. I am a picky eater and really enjoyed it. Staff is fun and friendly. The beer is cold and a huge selection, wine if that is your thing. But seriously I go for the food. Sometimes the music and the energy is off the hook there. Some great bands playing some toe tappin tunes with lots of fun local characters bouncin around the dance floor.

Best place in Cottage Grove for live music and tap selection. Several local and foreign beers on tap. Live music almost every night. Pool table upstairs, and they just got hard liqs. New kitchen setup, so the bartenders can concentrate on taking care of you. Can’t believe this is the first review. Love this place!
