Stayed two nights in motel next door and ate here twice. Excellent food; fresh, delicious, cooked perfectly, great presentation. The place is pretty and service was good. Staff attentive and friendly.

Awesome food, really authentic Mediterranean & Persian cuisine. Menu is not unique, but everything is very well prepared. Owners and staff are so friendly. Be prepared to be there a long time; they really serve slowly and seem to like to build a relationship with the diners. It’s also pretty pricey…$ 18 – 20 for chicken kabob and rice. But the quality of food is outstanding. An unexpected gem in a little town.

I didn’t even realize Farside Bistro existed until shortly before I moved from Cottonwood which is one of the sad truths of my existence. I LOVE Farside. Their hummus is to die for — super creamy, super flavorful. The lamb kabobs are also super yummy and my kids could eat a truck load of their saffron rice. The owners are super sweet, they make everything themselves(which equates to somewhat slow service, but is totally worth it. I solved that problem by typically calling in my order and just picking it up to eat at home.) and are really good at remembering you and your order after just a visit or two. Farside is one of the things I miss most about Cottonwood so if you are lucky enough to be nearby go and eat some for me!

We just celebrated New Year’s eve at this lovely restaurant. One of the owners waited on us and made us feel so welcome, like we were family visiting from afar. The setting was quaint and delightful and the food was one of our best meals during our week visiting the area!

AMAZING food. Honestly, at first we were a little disappointed because there weren’t too many vegetarian options like most Mediterranean places. So we decided to try the 3 side with 2 pita bread sampler(spicy hummus, yogurt with cucumber and garlic potato) and the vegetarian pizza. They were PHENOMENAL. Everything is so so so fresh and just perfect and delicious. The owners are extremely sweet, attentive and caring. A must try!

They served me when they were closed and the food is just perfect. Nice people too. I would give 10 stars if I could. Antibiotic and hormone free meat, good quality ingredients, etc…

I have become a regular because this is by far my favorite restaurant ever. You can expect food that is made from scratch, beyond delectable, fresh, exemplary quality and makes you feel good. The service is loving and nurturing, like being a guest of honor in someone’s personal home. This restaurant is very unique and we are so lucky to have them here in the Verde Valley.

We ordered the spicy hummus and cucumber yogurt with the olive cheese bread. We were very hungry and it was delicious. Presentation was colorful and flavorful. Our entrée was the chicken and beef kebab. I adore the roasted tomato and saffron rice. Our dinner tasted homemade. Service was great. We also had a Bulgarian Chardonnay and Persian tea also Turkish coffee with baklava. We were very satisfied with our dinner.

I love this little restaurant! I have been here three times, and every time I tried something different. Once I ordered the kebab sandwich, steak very tender, and delicious, I mean the best sauces I’ve ever had! I also enjoy Golab, the wife of this husband wife team, she is the best!

The Farside Bistro is an unexpected find in small town Cottonwood Arizona and its Persian influenced food is an even greater surprise. The building itself is small, but tastefully designed. Very clean and it offers a very peaceful environment. Being a huge fan of Humus we started with their dip sampler with regular humus, yogurt with cucumber, and garlic potato dip and two loaves pita. The pita itself was fresh, traditional, and tasty. The original humus was also fresh and some of the best humus I have had in Arizona. The garlic potato sip was my favorite of the three. The fresh garlic offers a nice little bite. I will say that I was disappointed with the yogurt and cucumber. It was simple and lacked any real flavor. We followed our dip trio with a chicken kebab salad. This chicken was easily the star of the plate. Cooked perfectly and extremely juicy. The salad itself was a little underwhelming alone, but paired with the chicken it was a satisfying dish. The only complaint was there wasn’t enough chicken. We finished the meal with the Persian ice cream suggested by our waitress. Vanilla ice cream topped with pistachio dust and rose water honey. This is a MUST have such a wonderful marriage of flavors!!! The staff was a joy to deal with. Prices seemed a little high but we will visit again.

The tiny, almost invisible bungalow is a family affair, with wife Golab running the front of the house, and her hubby Hojat in the kitchen. We only spotted it due it being next door to where we were staying at the Verde Valley Inn. Hojat greeted us with a smile and seated us(ordinary but pleasant dining space and décor), and then Golab quickly came over to take beverage orders — and thats where the pleasant surprises began. I’m a huge fan of craft beer, and over the past few years nearly every decent restaurant has caught on and has a few national and local craft offerings. Far Side Bistro has taken a different and refreshing approach, by offering(and recommending) very popular beers — but from rather interesting countries, and some lesser known beers from powerhouse brewing nations like Belgium. We had a Efes dark(Turkey), Atomium from Belgium, and Baltica Classic from Russia, all of which paired very nicely with our meals, which Hojat proudly wheeled out to us: ME: Steak Kabob, Saffron rice and shallot yogurt(23.99). Maybe the price is a tad bit high for the area, but its right on par in comparison with many of the Phoenix area middle-eastern restaurants. In terms of quality, taste, and presentation, the dish was an absolute KNOCKOUT, and I’d put his kabobs against anybody’s in Phoenix. Beef Flap(Skirt steak, I presume) can be a tricky thing to marinade and grill with this seasoning profile, and some kabobs I have had tend to let the marinade overwhelm the protein… but not Hojat’s. It was tender, flavorful, balanced, and gone within 5 minutes. The portion size was quite fair — five individual cuts of the skirt, probably 2 ounces each. I’m sure to have it again on my next visit. MYOLDLADY: She went with the Vegetable Kabob, saffron rice, Original Hummus and pita.(18.99). I liked the presentation and vegetables choices and sizes — BIG mushrooms, flavorful tomatoes, and the thick sliced bell peppers were seared perfectly with just the light tough of oil. I havent seen rice presented like this before — clever! :) The menu is well rounded with traditional starters and appetizers(and pizza? Why not!). The entrees clearly focus on kabobs… but lets face it, is that a bad thing? Kabobs should be on EVERY menu! If Golab is serving you, take some time and chat with her if she isn’t too busy. She’s very lovely and personable, as sharp as a tack on all things cuisine, and her tasting notes and recommendations were really spot on when it came to our exotic beer choices. Dinner for two including three unusual beers — $ 66.93 including tax. Well worth it. I really didn’t think I would find such a hidden gem in Cottonwood. As far as the reviews that accuse the place of not being«Persian enough», I call BS. Farside Bistro brands itself as both Mediterranean AND Persian. Cottonwood has a population of just 11,000 people, I don’t think any restaurant owner in a small town should try to narrow themselves to a single exotic niche, its much smarter(and more fun) to represent a region, as long as your kitchen skills are up to the task. And the vast majority of the Farside menu is certainly classifiable as belonging to the broader Mediterranean region. Therefore, I must grant one of my rarely given, extra shiny 5-star ratings to the Farside.

Excellent restaurant. We’ve been really impressed with the restaurants in Sedona and Cottonwood overall. OK so maybe this isn’t the most authentic Persian cuisine but they’ve taken some liberties to Americanize a bit considering the small town. That’s totally understandable. Food is excellent! The place is small but well decorated. The bathrooms are clean and nicely decorated, proving they care about their customers’ experiences. As for food my wife and I came here for a slightly late lunch on Friday. I ordered the chicken potato salad with Basmati rice and the spicy pepper sauce as the side & sauce. My wife got the spinach and cheese flatbread. Portions are generous and I actually thought too huge when I saw the big 6″+ half pita filling the plate. There were three fresh Romaine leaves in there — a nice foodie touch. Fixin’s and the potato/chicken salad were great. It’s not spicy at all other than the pepper sauce which had a nice kick. It tasted fresh and delicious. The large pita is thinner so it’s easier to eat without making s mess. I ate the whole thing and didn’t feel overstuffed on a hot summer midday. I definitely recommend coming here if you’re coming through Cottonwood, AZ anytime soon.

Amazing. That’s all I can say, to have such a superior Persian restaurant in Cottonwood is both a blessing and a surprise. The hummus, baba ghanoush, and kebabs, are simply amazing. All of the ingredients are fresh. The preparation is careful and authentic. The service is outstanding. We even got to meet the owner who came out from the kitchen as to find out how our meal was. I can’t recommend this restaurant strongly enough. The food is great, the setting is pleasant, and the owners are just phenomenal people.

I must say for Cottonwood they have hidden gem. I had dinner last night and the best dinner in the Sedona/Cottonwood area. The food was fresh and service was very good. This is husband and wife team that know what they’re doing. The chicken and steak was very tender.

What a great new addition to the area! (Original post on Facebook by S Broude) «Owner Goba, greets you like family and she and her husband make everything from scratch… Even yogurt! We had the veggie kebab which had 4 large pieces of red pepper, 2 whole white mushrooms and 2 tomato halves with long grain white rice and side of potato/garlic dip…$ 12.95 and the lavosh appetizer which is spinach and variety of cheeses… We shared the 3 variety of dips w/pita-we chose babaganoush, hummus and yogurt w/dill… All excellent. Authentic. They don’t fry anything and don’t use oil. Very healthy.» Another plus… they are open later than most restaurants in the area. We’ll be back!

My wife and I went in truly hoping for the best but prepared for the typical Mediterranean/Persian food experience you get in nor-AZ. This wasn’t even close. This place is an instant new favorite! Delicious sauces and melt in your mouth steak. The chicken is ridiculously good and the meatballs are perfect. We made a future reservation for 8 mid-meal. This place is legit!

My dad and I decided to stop by Farside Bistro for lunch on our way to Sedona. Being pretty familiar around Mediterranean food, I can say this was among the best I have ever had. We ordered the sampler platter, so we were able to try the different dips, chicken and steak kebabs, meatballs, and two types of rice. The dips were the best part: when i asked what the secret was, I learned that they make it all by scratch! Even the yogurt! The kebabs were very tender and well-marinated. I preferred the steak over the chicken, but that may be a matter of personal preference. The meatballs were unexpected of a persian restaurant, yet delicious nonetheless. The rice came with a grilled tomato. The saffron rice was among the best I have had. For dessert, we ordered the traditional persian pastry. It reminded me of baklava. Very sweet. The service was very personal and friendly. You can tell that the owners care deeply about the quality of food and are open to any suggestions. If you’re looking for fresh, sensibly priced, traditional persian/Mediterranean food, I highly suggest Farside Bistro. You won’t regret it.

Great food and service. My kids loved the chicken and stake. Wife loved the pizza and I tried the meatballs which was GREAT! We did get few appetizers and they where all great! I specially loved the Shirazi salad and their Saffron rice. Great care and love seems to have been taken in preparing the food and we could tell from the taste. Loved the tea and the honey covered dessert. We felt very satisfied at the end of our dinner. The food was fresh, light, filling and tasty. The service was another thing that we loved. The owners are very nice and we do wish them the best. I have recommended few others to this place and they also loved the place.
