This place is just awesome! Best food in the city’s friendly staff as well. Try it out I think you will like it

Three words. Out of Hollandaise. What? Drove from Omaha to order my favorite… eggs benedict. Omaha World Herald voted DQ as having the best eggs benedict and I agree. We went on a weekday early evening and when we arrived was told they were out of hollandaise sauce. Really? Make more? The very worst part is that I called ahead… right before we left the house to be sure they were not out of it because sadly it has happened before. Poor planning? Maybe they just don’t really care. Either way not cool.

I honestly wanted to like this place and even decided to give them my money once again. I just don’t get it. It’s overrated and my food just simply didn’t taste good. My home fries were not good at all. They had an aftertaste that I couldn’t even put my finger on. Stale? Sour? Honestly, I think the potatoes were going bad. I left them on my plate and ate around them. Since we are on the topic of produce going bad, we got a $ 9 Bloody Mary which wasn’t half bad but they used an old celery stick! One that had absolutely no more crunch to it. Come on! I would have accepted the Bloody Mary with no celery stick rather than having an old one floating in it. It was such a disappointing experience. My boyfriend who is from out of state came and was so excited to try out their Sexual Chocolate French toast.(According to other Unilocalers was tasty.) We were Wow’d initially when it was placed on our table! Very beautiful to the eyes but when we started eating it, it was simply just French toast that wasn’t soaked in an egg mixture long enough. We were essentially eating a baguette with a light coating of egg mixture with chocolate poured all over it and dusted with powdered sugar. The slices of French toast looked great but were overwhelming with the chocolate and tasted like bread. I don’t get it. Maybe I never will but this place is overhyped and overpriced for no reason. Perhaps I am paying for that extra hipster environment. To top off this disappointment in all of our food, our wait for our food wasn’t long but our wait for my credit card was. Our server kept disappearing off to I have no idea where and another employee had to take my check and run my card. But then also disappeared with it until I finally asked another women where my card was. I just don’t get it. Am I eating at the wrong times? Or am I ordering the wrong items? I’m sorry. I just find this place not worth the price. There are plenty of other breakfast places in Omaha that I have been to who are way cheaper and full of flavor.

Driving cross country coast to coast, ended up in Council Bluffs, Iowa. This little Southern influenced restaurant poured a great martini after a long day in the car, don’t miss their crab cakes, sautéed catfish was amazing with grilled Brussels sprouts. Too full for dessert. Service staff very accommodating and would definitely return!

It had been over a year since my last visit to Dixie Quick’s, so when friends suggested meeting there for a holiday dinner, I jumped at the chance. We discovered that Wednesday nights are their«fried chicken» night, and that they only prepare a set number of servings. We were lucky! Corn bread with butter and honey was served in advance of the entrée. Each plate had four HUGE pieces of chicken on them, fried to a golden brown but totally moist throughout. You get 2 sides… I chose black-eyed peas and mashed with gravy. Only the gravy left something to be desired, mainly taste. It was like a cream sauce, with no hint of chicken flavor at all. But it was a smooth accompaniment to the great jacket-mashed potatoes, and I will never hesitate to order it again. As always, service was prompt and attentive. Gotta go back soon!

Above average however their drinks are not that great. Food I could have made myself at home for a lot less. Hope they hire a better bartender in the future. The only thing I can rave about is the strawberry rhubarb jam.

Went for breakfast here with friends this past Saturday. Never having been here before, I was looking forward to it… I ordered the chilaquiles… I really liked what I got, never having had it before… And the server was great, never had to really wait for a water or coffee refill… However, it may be a while till I come back… I just found the whole experience way over priced for what I got… On this particular outing, I just felt that DQ’s was a bit overrated…

Love this place! Completely baffled about people complaining about a 30– to 40-minute wait time during the few allotted brunch days. If you ever set foot in New York, you expect 1 to 2 hours on average, and you just deal with it like a champion. Plus, they can’t control their popularity. It means you’re in the right place! We went on the tail-end of their morning hours and were seated right away. I had the sexual chocolate and holy moly, I felt like a kid because that’s what I would envision as an amazing indulgent breakfast if I were little(name aside, ha!). Finished every bite. Love the fun odds-and-ends décor and friendly staff. Would definitely love to try their evening hours since brunch was such a hit with us. If you love comfort diner food, come hungry, but not too famished because there might be a lil wait. :)

This place is retro, amazing food, friendly fast staff, and it has an art gallery. Rob and Rene the owners are the best.

I really really wanted this to be a good brunch experience this past weekend, but Dixie Quick’s fell flat repeatedly. First thing’s first: After reading some reviews, I made a reservation for Sunday at noon. I know Sunday is the most popular brunch day, so I thought I was doing right by selecting a specific time, and, you know, following restaurant rules. I’m not sure if there was a miscommunication with the host stand/seating staff, but we did not get seated until about 12:40 p.m. This is a completely unacceptable amount of time to wait beyond a reservation time. Yes, we also inquired about 3 times why we had not been seated, and we were met with responses such as, «you’re next on the list,» and other placating phrases. Once we had been seated, things were going all right. I was starting to think that things were looking up while drinking my $ 9 vodka cocktail. Then, about 30 minutes after ordering our meals, the server informs our table that the kitchen has run out of hollandaise sauce. Half of our group had ordered eggs benedict dishes(the reviews convinced us these were awesome), so that was extremely disappointing. Changing our order probably added even more time to our meal. You can right a lot of wrongs if you’re serving fantastic food, but the food at Dixie Quick’s, at least what we received, was average. One at our table was not pleased with the meal, but that may have just been a misstep in ordering, although the server could have recommended something since he/she knew it was our first time. I don’t know if I’ll ever venture to Council Bluffs for brunch at Dixie Quick’s again, considering this experience. Based on this visit, Dixie Quick’s seems to be overpriced, over-hyped, and overextended in how they handle the brunch crowds.

Dixie Quicks makes for a nice outing in Council Bluffs. i’ve only ever been there for dinner, but hear their breakfast is amazing. I’ve been their a handful of times and always get the salmon. It tastes very fresh. Their sides are unique and pair well with the main dishes. I love that it’s paired with a simple art gallery next door that displays local artist. Makes for a nice after-dinner walkthrough or while people are waiting to be seated. I would love to know the history behind the name as I don’t think it’s very fitting. Dixie Quicks sounds more like a diner rather than a trendy, classic establishment. Parking can be challenging until they get a parking lot made. Expect to walk on a busy night.

I fall more in love with Dixie Quicks with each visit. Last Friday I had the bow tie pasta topped with Cajun chicken and a thin layer of cheese in a delicious tomato broth with peppers. It was served piping hot, troubling only because the A/C happened to be out that day. That’s okay; I couldn’t stop eating(and happily sweating). Sides were mashed potatoes, which were creamy and with flavor unlike the bland and dry mashed potatoes served at many other places, grilled green onions with lime, and cornbread. The following day I visited for brunch and had the Dixie Scramble with salmon: two biscuit halves topped with a salmon filet and scrambled eggs and topped with a tomato butter sauce. My side was country potatoes, which stood out in flavor too. Once again, I brought leftovers home. Needless to say, it was a DQ weekend. Service both instances was phenomenal. And you can’t beat the cool ambiance of the space — tall ceilings, funky art(and art gallery attached), and sweet ‘90s tunes. The prices are a tad above normal for the area, but the quality and quantity of the food more than makes up for the extra couple bucks per entrée. I’m lucky Dixie Quicks is just a walk away.

It’s been a longggg time since I have been to Dixie Quick’s! I last visited when they were still open in DT Omaha, now they have moved to a cool space in DT CB-not far away at all. I found brunch at 9:30am on a Sunday to be very leisurely and easy. We were seated immediately and food orders and food promptly followed. I ordered a daily special(brisket hash) and my love got the eggs benedict. Both were good, but not mind blowing to me. I would say both of our dishes rank with A-OK but something was lacking. With the hash, it was not flavorful enough(a rare complaint from me). The Benedict was pretty good, but the fruit we ordered as side was a tin can esque nasty fruit cocktail that I was totally not into. Who cans and preserves banana? Texture an taste was not the greatest in my opinion. I was expecting fresh fruit from an establishment like this. Besides this, the food was fine. The fruit cocktail will never be ordered by me again and thats fine too. Easy fix. I am sure some people love it… but I just CANT. It’s a cute environment with a patio to have brunch and enjoy your typical breakfast foods with a fancier new american twist. I would give it another try and explore more menu items. The locale really is charming.

Have you seen a picture of the sexual chocolate French toast? That’s enough reason to make the trek to Council Bluffs for breakfast. In addition, I love art and you’re basically eating in an art gallery. Everywhere you look is another art piece. You can never get bored. Quirky place with incredible food. Love this place. Wish they had one in St. Louis.

This place has an interesting flair. Doors hang from the ceiling, photographs decorate the walls, Audrey II resides in the back corner. There is a lot to look at. The menu is extensive. Breakfast seems to be available all day. There are many reasonably priced dinners that come with two sides. There is also a chalkboard of specials. This is where I found my choice for dinner. I went with friends who have been here before. They treated me to split a crab cake. Nicely plated with a sauce orange in color, diced tomatoes, some greens and coleslaw. It was perhaps the tallest crab cake I’ve seen. The cake was full of crab with not too much filler. The outside was delicate and did not mask the flavor of the crab. Bites eaten with sauce, tomatoes and coleslaw were delicious. I ordered the Spinach Gorgonzola Ravioli. Sounds good, right? It was. The ravioli was green, so I think perhaps that was the spinach in Spinach Gorgonzola Ravioli. Each was filled with a green colored cheese. I believe there may have been a hint of spinach there, too. The tomato sauce was chunky and with chunks of bleu cheese, was the perfect compliment to the pillows filled with cheese. The Brussel sprouts were nicely charred and cooked to perfection. The collard greens were very heavily flavored with vinegar and a bit of heat. The greens were good, but what was interesting is any bite taken after a bite of greens seemed to explode with flavor, particularly the Brussel sprouts. What a great combination. With so many other tempting options on the menu, I think I just might have to come back a few more times.

Cleanliness 4 Service 3 Food 3 Likelihood 4 1 – 5(5 Best!) 3.5 I love Rob and I love Rene. I have been a customer since they first opened at 16th and Dodge in Omaha. It has been a «minute» since we stopped by for brunch. Long over-due. Our order taker was friendly, but not attentive. We had a third join us and it was a chore to get him service. She spent a lot of time at another table with friends/regulars. Most of the food was not hot, which is not typical for our experience. My personal love for both these men will always keep me coming back. They give so much for our community to be a better place for all. I like that.

I can’t hear for brunch this morning and it was so delicious! We couldn’t decide between which orders to pick off the menu so we got decided to just order two and share both– the breakfast quesadillas and the sexual chocolate French toast. The quesadillas were great. They had a fried top layer and with a layer of scrambled eggs, cheese, and a mix of onions and maybe cucumbers? On top was a light green salsa and crumbled cheese. We opted for a side order of the home fries, which were just OK. The quesadilla was pretty delicious though. Okay so the French toast… Umm amazing! We asked our waitress if we should get pancakes or French toast and she recommended French toast. We asked which style you should get(not very decisive here, folks)(berry, plain, or sexual chocolate) and she recommended the sexual chocolate. Four large pieces of French toast with bananas, chocolate chips, walnuts, and whip cream. Oh, and drizzled with chocolate sauce. Oh. My. Gosh. Like, you cannot go wrong with this order! Yes, you’ll feel so full afterwards, but absolutely worth it. Nice outside patio and friendly staff. Will definitely be back! Nice job, council bluffs.

How can anyone do breakfast wrong? Well, DQ brings breakfast to a while new level. Came here on a Saturday morning. Should have definitely made reservations cause this place is packed! Checked out the museum next door for 20 or so minutes and was sat — the wait was short for how many people were on the waitlist ahead of us! I got sexual chocolate pancakes — and if pancakes were sexy — this would be it. My pancakes were huge drenched in chocolate sauce, bananas, nuts and whipped cream. I don’t even know what anyone else ordered because I was too focused on what I was eating. The place is small, service is quick, and the décor is very homey and antique-y. The menu is on a chalkboard(very cute) and the tables are covered in vintage print. I don’t cross over to CB often, but only for Dixie Quick’s!

Ew. Ew. Ew. Blackeded catfish was way, way, way too fishy tasting, and yes I know it’s ‘fish,’ but was very foul tasting. Seasonings were off in the greens also, I think it was dill. Yuckie + Red beans and rice was tasty. The waitress asked me if I wanted a to go box and I politely said no thank you. She had to notice my meal was barely touched, but she did not even you bother asking me if anything was wrong. + I really enjoyed looking through the vintage items at the attached store. I will go back to browse and shop, not to eat. + I almost forgot to mention the place is very nicely decorated. I loved the unique counter.
