I have been here 4 times and this will be our last. Our waiter was horrible. Served the food and never came back. He never checked to see if our food was ok or if we needed anything. I was never even asked if I needed a another drink or wanted something else to drink. Very poor service.

Can’t go wrong here! They offer great vegetarian options and the margaritas are well worth it!

I have never had a bad experience at this place. The food here is amazing, and this is one of the top places my girlfriend and I love to go for a nice dinner. The steak tostado’s are phenomenal, and definitely my favorite dish. I am always full before my meal arrives, because of the amazing unlimited chips and salsa. Their salsa is probably the best salsa I have ever had. There are times I will just eat the salsa with a spoon and no chips, and I rarely do that with salsas or condiments. The service has always been amazing, and the waiters/waitresses go out of their way to ensure you are being taken care of. Overall, this is the best Mexican restaurant I have been to, and I will continue to be a loyal customer.

The food was merely ok but not terrible. Nothing to write home about. A little pricey for what you get. And the margarita came in a normal 16oz pint glass, Really!!! What’s the point then…

Giving this place one star is way more than it should get. The place is grimy. The carpets and ceiling tile are gross. There is a speaker blasting loud bad music in your face. Everyone«working» there are too busy playing grab ass than to come take your order. Go there for the margaritas only. The food is lousy

Best(read: strongest) margaritas in the area. Note: Wednesday nights, they’re on special. Tortilla soup, always with a bit of avocado atop, is tasty – as are the veggie tacos and salsa. Attentive waitstaff year round and a decent patio in the summertime. This is fast becoming my favorite Mexican restaurant in town. The only caveat: I wish it were(still) located in downtown La Grange.

Delish food and those margaritas… yummmm! Wait staff are mostly nice and fast service. Worth the wait on the weekends!

This is my second visit. I decided to bring a family member to sit down for a meal. The food is great. This is the only reason I came(again). But our waiter was absolutely horrible. He never smiled, never came to see if we were enjoing our food, let alone provided good customer service overall. I was disappointed & so was my family member. The place was not busy in the dining area. I didn’t like my experience at all. Will not be a future customer!

Their chips and salsa are amazing! I love their enchiladas– beef or chicken– never had the steak but I’m not a steak person. My husband loves it. I’ve noticed my last 3 visits we have not had the best service. The last 2 visits they have gotten the food order wrong(including tonight). I’d like to think maybe they just aren’t fully staffed with servers but at my visit last month there weren’t too many people in the restaurant(we went between the lunch and dinner rush). Not sure what the problem is. I keep giving them more and more chances. Wednesday’s they have half price margaritas but only the lime flavor. I think I may be putting café salsa on the back burner and sticking closer to home. We used to drive 40 minutes to get there when the service was decent, the orders were correct, and we didn’t have to ask for a drink refill. 3 stars is for the food but definitely not the service I have experienced lately.

Went there again last night to meet a friend for dinner. I suggested this place because it was so good the first time. Well, what a disappointment. Our waitress had zero personality, was close to being rude and the food was mediocre. What a disappointment.

I’ve been coming here for a while, and this place never disappoints me! Café Salsa is in Countryside, right next to Cocula Restaurant, which is another Mexican restaurant. I’d say it’s an okay location, but it’s pretty close to another restaurant that’s basically the same thing. The service was great! The waiter I had was very friendly! I never had a bad experience with the service here! I’m impressed by the friendly server I had! The food was great! The tortilla chips are excellent. After each chip, you would want more of it! It’s also warm, which is a good thing when it comes to food! I also had the steak tacos. It was just okay. The steak was just okay, and it wasn’t the best steak I had. My side of rice and beans was pretty good. I also had the fried ice cream for dessert. The ice cream was great! All in all, it’s a good Mexican place to try out. I will come back.

It was a warm summer night and my boyfriend and I were in the mood to sit outdoors and have a nice dinner along with some drinks. I remembered going here a while back and the food was good and they had a nice patio. So off we went… We walked in and asked to sit outside, luckily we had just missed the Sunday dinner crowd. We got seated immediately and I was pleased to see that the patio was just as lovely. Plenty of tables, nice lighting, pretty plants and the tables were spread out so you weren’t close to other diners. Water and chips were brought out right away. I’m a big salsa fan and this salsa is very delicious. Just enough spice and full of flavor. I love that they have a very extensive menu and there is lots to choose from. To drink we ordered a pitcher of the frozen mango margarita, yum! When I checked in with Unilocal I received a coupon for the half order of the guacamole so that was a nice bonus. The guacamole was ok, I like mine a certain way so I’m very picky. This one was ok and free so it was all good! For my entrée I ordered the carne asada. That did not disappoint! It was cooked perfectly and it was a nice size. It came with rice and beans and those were good also. My boyfriend had the grilled ribeye and all I heard was how tasty and delicious it was. He ordered it with blue cheese on the side and ordered veggies. He was one happy guy. It was a great dinner and our server was amazing. He was very attentive, friendly and professional. A great Mexican restaurant in the area, check them out!

This place has been around for a while. For some reason I really don’t get here much. Maybe because it is off the beaten path somewhat. That is too bad because I always enjoy my experience here. The service here has always been phenomenal. I have never been let down with the waitstaff My last visit was no exception. The best spot to dine here is on the patio on a nice day. Although it is very close to bust LaGrange Road, The entire patio is fenced in minimizing the sound and maximizing privacy. The food here is solid. I have never been blown away but I have never been disappointed either. I have always enjoyed my meal.

Nothing groundbreaking in terms of Mexican fare but what they do serve is fresh and tasty. The complimentary chips and two types of salsa were great. My Dad and I came here on a recent Saturday for a late lunch and we had the patio to ourselves. It was lovely, beautiful flowers in all four corners and enough umbrellas so the hot sun wasn’t an issue. The waiter was kind and sweet to my Dad. He kept referring to my dad as «Pops», it was cute. Service was great, quick but we didn’t feel rushed. I had the veggie quesadillas and Pops had a taco salad and a dark beer. The inside was a bit noisy, not in bad way but the patio was a perfect spot for me and Pops. We’ll be back. It’s like a little oasis off of busy LaGrange Road.

Not authentic Mexican food, but good Americanized version. Margaritas were a pre-made mix, how disappointing. Had the steak tacos and steak tortas. Meat was good, as well as the refried beans and rice. We ate at the bar and the bartender provided ok service-distracted by her phone. Not sure I’ll be back, too many other restaurants that have authentic Mexican food.

Most recent visit showed improvement in the quality of the food. We sat at a table in the bar, big mistake, it was really loud. Skinny Margarita was good. Service not as attentive as in the dining room.

Tried this place with a friend tonight. It wasn’t too busy when we arrived, but it filled up as our dinner went on. We received chips and salsa almost immediately after sitting down; they were addictive. The salsa provided just the perfect kick before our meal. Our server was initially very attentive and speedy, and brought out our mango margaritas right after they were ordered. Although our first choices of margaritas were passion fruit and guava, we were informed that these were no longer available. Fortunately, the mango margarita was strong, delicious, and filling. Our food came out probably five minutes after we ordered it, so we didn’t really have time to enjoy our drinks. The food was quite decent — I ordered the basil goat cheese quesadillas, which were oozing with goat cheese. My friend ordered two tacos and rice. She liked the tacos, but complained about the sauce on the rice. After we received our food, the place crowded up and the service got exponentially slower. I was promised guacamole with my quesadilla and didn’t receive any. By the time the server came around to fix the issue, I was almost finished with my meal. Kind of a bummer, but no big deal. It took about twenty minutes for us to get our check after that. Would’ve rated this place five stars if the service maintained itself throughout our entire experience.
