I eat there at least 2 – 3 times a week on dinner break from work. Food is usually very good. They have recently added sushi. They have also added a space heater but its too small to heat up the inside. Family owned by very nice people.

I don’t understand all the hate for this little Chinese restaurant. Things haven’t seemed to change since 2009 when it was noted that they don’t run the heat in the winter, but we were only getting take out so that wasn’t a concern. Additionally, some of the reviews below have compared this to another Tiogue Avenue restaurant which was closed down due to health code violations, so it looks like China Star can’t be that bad. I mean, that’s what Chinese food usually comes down to. There are very few places that make good Chinese food, and a ton of places that make okay Chinese food. Dragon Palace makes pretty good Chinese food, but all of their options are priced for someone who is eating in the restaurant. If you’re looking for take out prices, reasonable food, and this is the closest Chinese restaurant to your house, then China Star is the place for you.

More like China Blahhhh. This place sucks. I don’t even know how it is still in business with Mai Tai down the street which is way better. The rice is like yellow rice a roni looking garbage. I am not picky at all but this is not even edible. I would have rather seen this place go out of business then Spikes that was next door. sad sad chinese food.

As Ken points out… they do not run a heater in the winter months. I am sure it is hot back by the wok’s but up front it is down-right chilly while waiting for the food. I have had just a few dishes from here and I can say I have definetly had worse food from a strip-mall chinese place. While not a glowing review, this is not my first pick for chinese but it is the closest to my house and sometimes that is enough. I believe it is family owned and opperated, which I like. The boneless spareribs are pretty tasty and not overly fatty. They serve items like sweat/sour chicken with the sauce on the side. This is helpful to keep the chicken crispy on your drive home! It also means you can have as little or as much of the sauce as you want. If I saw what I think I saw, the chicken pieces were hand dipped. i have also witnessed them cutting chunks of meat by hand. I think this helps them with control the trim of the meat to not give too much fatty pieces out. Extra labor but probably cheaper and I like that it isn’t just straight from the truck in a bag or bin and into the wok or frier. Anyway, standard chinese food, nice people. Slightly dingy and COLD front area in the winter months.

They don’t have the heater on so you have to wear your jacket. My soda was 3 months expired. The food was acceptable at best.
