Living nearby we have been here many many times over the past 6 or 7 years. This morning because one of us is laid up with back pain I placed our breakfast order«to go» Wow…two thumbs down!!! I ordered the«Heaping pile of blueberries pancakes» It was more like a heaping pile of pancake The blueberries were virtually non existent and NOSYRUP… nada! Additionally we ordered our usual side order of Corned Beef Hash… it was less than half of the usual portion when dining in… why???

you would think that after so many bad experiences i would stop goin to this place but i guess i learned my lesson this time. i went there ordered two sandwiches and some stuffies. i asked them not to put a certain type of meat on my sandwich and surprise they not only gave me the meat i didnt ask for they gave me extra. i was on the way to bringing my son down to the beach and was not turning around. when i finally checked my bank account i noticed that i had gotten charged four dollars more than what was on the reciept. its not a big deal considering its only four dollars but i wouldve been pissed if they had made me overdraft. its just the point of why are they chargin me for someone elses tip. when i had talked to the manager laura she said she would take care of it right away and call me the next morning. i never got a call and when i called them she had apparently lied and decided to take the weekend off. then when i had asked why they were stealing money for tips out of whos ever account they felt like it they claimed that wasnt the problem. when i finally talked to the manager she claims they just hit the next button on the register and entered the tip incorrectly on the wrong credit slip and had charged me for someone elses tip. clearly this is a constant problem if she knows exactly what there doing but yet does nothing about it. i will not be coming back here that was the final straw you mess up the order than over charge me and top it off with bad customer service. ide give you less than a one if i could.

When out with my wife Saturday feb. 13 for valentine’s day. My wife had the turkey dinner. I had the 12 ounce steak. My wife’s stuffing was hard as a rock. I couldn’t even put my fork through it. I showed the waitress and she took it away. Also my mashed potatoes and my wife’s were so salty that I couldn’t taste anything else but the salt in my mouth. My waitress was nice so I still left a really good tip. But they should have taken something off the bill. I emailed them and let them know that we don’t go out often and that the dinner was disappointing they never even bothered to answer my email. Last time I go their for dinner ever again. 80 dollars for 2 people and it sucked!!!

I love this place! The breakfast is yummy, and I love the movie themes. I’ve been to the bar on the right side a few times at night. The drinks come fast, and the bartenders are really nice. The only negative is it could be just a tiny bit brighter to see the menu.

Had a gift card here which brought us in. Large location which serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner 7 days a week. We went in for breakfast on a Monday late morning. Their breakfast menu is extensive so whatever you are looking for they will have. We got 2 regular pancakes which were enormous, the Telly Sevalas greek omelet(spinach, tomatoes, olives, feta) which came with toast and homefries, and the western omelet(just know that the ham is more of like a ham steak so the pieces are thick). The omelets were good, what you would expect for breakfast but the homefries were really good. They are cut up large potatoes, seasoned really well and not that fried, crispy stuff, more like baked. The pancakes were nice and fluffy. Overall the place is a little cheesy with their décor and their concept but it is in a good location with plenty of parking. The food was good, I would definitely come back. It seems that they have a large pizza selection so I may return during lunch of dinner to try that.

So this Saturday night my family and I went to The Old Theatre Diner for dinner. The hostess starts off by complaining that she’s been there all day and she’s tired. After we were seated, the waitress takes our drink orders and returns with the glasses ¾ quarters full. She then took our orders, I had the 20 ounce prime rib with au jus, mashed potatoes, corn, and a house salad. The Italian dressing had way to much vinegar, and the salad had no color to it at all. The prime rib was flavorless, at least the au jus had more flavor. The mashed potatoes tasted like they were instant, the corn tasted like canned corn, and the gravy that was on the mashed potatoes was from a jar. My wife and my daughter’s ordered eggplant parmesan. My wife’s eggplant was soggy, and the pasta was overcooked, my daughters eggplant was also soggy, but her pasta was undercooked. The one thing that really pissed me off was the fly that had been flying around our food. The bathroom was disgusting. Needless to say we won’t be returning.

This place has great food… the décor, well. needs a refresh but the pizza, sandwiches, fries, etc are really good… the half priced apps and beers on the game side during the week rocks… but yea, the food is good.

The reviews are good and we have heard good things so we tried it out. Actually, we tried it out three times. The inside is decorated with old movie posters and vinyl records. The menu has photos of movie stars of the past. The wait staff and kitchen staff are all dressed professionally in black. There is a bar in the back that can be entered from the side of the building or through the dining room. A very ‘cute’ place. Our first visit was a Sunday for lunch. They had a large Sunday Brunch crowd and our waitress seemed ready to go home. She was polite, but not attentive. The food however was good. We both had sandwiches that came with chips, pickles and slaw and they were good. But it didn’t seem fair to write a review on that one visit, so we planned to come back. Our second visit was a week day evening and what we didn’t realize was the power had been out in the area and it seemed like EVERYONE came to The Olde Theater Diner for dinner! The waitress was very nice. She was friendly and attentive and let us know there would be a wait because they were so busy. She got our drink order and brought over rolls and butter and we were happy to wait. Things were looking good. My fav started with the New England Clam chowder and it was thick and creamy with lots of potato and clams. I had a side salad that was just the right size and we noshed on the rolls while we talked and waited. After a substantial wait, and a second round of drinks, the food arrived! Lasagna and baked fish. We both dove in and they were both over cooked. We couldn’t cut the lasagna with a knife and the fish was dried out. We were really disappointed. We just could not eat either one! The waitress stopped over and we showed her what had happened and she ran off the get the manager. Oh no! We hate to make a fuss! The manager was amazing. He apologized, said he could see the food was over cooked. We pointed out the kitchen staff were working their butts off(you can see into the kitchen from the main dining area) and he agreed they were busy, but that food should not be delivered like that. He went on to say he hoped this experience did not spoil The Olde Theater Diner for us. They have several customers who eat there several days every week and they pride themselves on serving good food. We assured him we would give it another try and he COMPEDOURCHECK100%! We thanked him and tried to pay for what we ate and drank but he and the waitress insisted we were ‘good’. We tipped our very nice waitress and headed home feeling very amazed at how seriously they take their customer service! So now trip number 3. Another week night visit, this time no power outage and it was bit late so there were only a few tables of diners. The rolls and butter show up as soon as you sit down and they are good. Since it was a ‘school night’ we had only water this time and since it was late, we passed on the apps. My fav got the chicken parm and let me tell you this portion is HUGE! He had dinner and left overs enough for two lunches! At $ 12.99 you can’t go wrong with this one.(Winner, winner, chicken dinner! and lunch) I had a grilled veggie wrap and substituted fries for the chips. The veggies are grilled, wrapped in a shell with a little mozzarella and then the wrap is grilled too so it’s all warm and the whole thing holds together nicely. The fries could use a little more crunch for my liking, but the inside is light and fluffy.(The vinegar is already on the table.) The slaw is sweet and tangy and the pickles are nice and zesty. The third time really was the charm. I hope not everyone has to wait three times, but we are glad we kept giving this place a try. It’s good food at good prices and I do recommend you give it a try!

Second visit here and will be my last. Went for breakfast today. Took 10 minutes before our extremely miserable waitress came over and asked«Did u want something to drink»… No hi, good morning, nothing. Food came out in 5 minutes and everything was cold. How can breakfast come out in 5 minutes and be cold. She never asked us if we wanted anything else until I asked for the check. Went 2 times… Won’t be back.

Excellent breakfast, good pizza and sandwiches. Grinders are toasted so if you don’t want wilted lettuce /tomato’s…ask them not to toast it. They make their own dough so the bread/pizza is delicious

Finally tried the food, after only seeing the bar side of the restaurant. When you order take-out their is a cool little section to the right to pick up your order which was very easy and fast. The girls at the counter were nice, very friendly staff. We got clam cakes which were pretty good, and fish n chips. The fries were on point and the fish was great too. Overall I thought everything was excellent and at a good price. Highly recommend this little Coventry gem!

Good American food, very big portions for the right price. I have been going here since they have opened their doors. The calzones and pizza’s are very good. I recommend asking for them to cook their pizza alittle longer to get a nice crunch on the crust. «So ask for well done!» Tuesday nights I had just learned that they have $ 5.00 burgers and $ 2.00 beers on tap. You get to pick from about 6 different burgers, which you get chips with and also a order of fries. They also have special menus for the different day’s of the week. I also have to say they have a killer pea soup for everyone that enjoys a soup like grandma made but Im sure they don’t have a granny in the kitchen! haha

Pros: A lot of choices, the unhealthier food looked like it was prepared better than what I got(grilled chicken and vegtables). If I were to go back I would get something along the lines of meatloaf or something of that nature. Cons: The healthy side of food that I got tasted dry like they do not have much experience making it. I would go here more if I did not care about my health.

Really good American fare at really good prices. A variety of menu choices. Entrees, burgers, sandwiches, pizza. If you ask, they will make you items not on the menu. I regularly order baked scallops or scallops Nantucket which are occasionally on the daily specials. Separate bar and lounge area. Plenty of parking. If you’re like me and prefer local mom and pop places over the chains then old theater won’t disappoint. The place is decorated with movie memorabilia and it actually was a movie theater when I was a kid. I remember seeing Star Wars on a single screen. tues was $ 1 night!

So this place was my jam when I lived in Coventry. I’m sure I enjoyed it more because I always went at off times, but I went on Sunday for lunch an it was brutal. Loud. Super loud, in fact. My mom kept thinking I was saying things or couldn’t hear me when I was. Coffee came without cream, and I had to beg for a refill. My omelette really wasn’t an omelette whoever cooked it seemed to give up and allow it to be a scramble. My mom got the usually suspects sort of breakfast and they gave her a handful of bacon– our dogs got a nice treat when we got home! And the potatoes were just as good if not better than always. We had to search for our server and getting the bill took some time. My mom wanted to pay right away and she wouldn’t take it til she did something else and came back.
